Why are they call the Granthams if their last name is Crawly (sp)?

Because Robert Crawley is the Earl of Grantham; the title he inherited is probably hundreds of years old and could represent the town or area his ancestors were lord of, or in the past the title could have passed to someone whose last name was different. For instance, if Robert's sister, had had a boy as a son, he would be the next in line for the title "Earl of Grantham" though he would carry his father's last name. (girls can't inherit so his daughters would be passed over)

I think the wait was over last year. PBS is taking far too long to bring this wonderful show over so people downloaded the unedited versions instead. I mean really, in this day and age this should be a simulcast show.
