For all you people who say this game is only luck it's not, u can change the settings in game so if ur coming 6-12th you get good items if your coming 1-5th you get shit items, the game is automaticly set to that setting if you dont change it, u can turn off boxes and shit but this game isn't all about luck. next time learn more about the game then comment

Wish I had saved my replay. Same track, I did it with Yoshi I think, playing on 150cc. Was last the entire race and I managed to get to first from last on the final stretch (towards the end of the mine, litteraly in the last quater of the track). This game sucks because the rubberband AI is stretched to a rediculas length. Mario Kart DS was actually fair, but for more competitive play and to make it easier for the less experienced, Nintendo introduced rediculas Rubberband AI

Can anyone tell me the advantages of using a smaller character (such as Toad/Baby Mario). I know that using a heavier character such as Wario or Waluigi gives you an advantage in terms of weight and pushing ppl around.

speed slightly faster can go to smaller places like when the car is closing and there is a small gap to the boost in coconut mall

smaller cars accelerate faster, say you and a heavy character fall at the exact same time. you will gain speed faster than them, but heavier cars have a higher maximum speed

Light charaters have much higher acceleration but a lower top speed. However their topspeed offroad is higher. The major disadvantage is majority of the oppisition is capable of knocking you allover the place.

2 things you have to keep in mind is:

1. The game uses rubberband AI, so the odds of winning with any charater is about the same.

2. If you are driving a manual, you don't loose speed when taking corners, so the acceleration boost doesn't do much if you are a good player.

Well, basically Mario kart wii is luck against the frigging computer and wifi. Only time trials aren't luck based. Its all down to the boxes. That's why when I play on vs with friends we always turn boxes off so its down to driving ability. good video

You can try to use bikes

because car is hard to turn

only if you are good at drifting

Don't use heavyweight character

because their car(bike) runs very slow

na, do use heavy weights, a heavy bike using Flame Runner, can give good competition to some light weight bike.

I use Funky Kong w/ Flame Runner and smoked 150cc and Mirror Cup. All the heavy weight chars have same stats so just use whatever looks best to you..

I use bowser and donkey kong too. But yes I know what you mean, just need to practice, I like the heavies because their drifting on bikes isnt sharp, and you can be really efficient with speed.

If you dont know the maps real well yet, then yes, dont not use heavy weights, because if you bump into walls alot, or fall off, it really hurts trying to re-accelerate to catch up to the light weights, like baby Peach on a bullet bike.

I remember at Mario Luigi Circuit, I got hit from first place on last lap near the finish line, got a gold mushroom in 6th place from last item boxes before finish line, used it, took shortcut, hit a pipe and got 1st place =)

you can use the short cut always, even if a mine cart is in the way, just edge around it. this is one map i think alot of people have to practice on to get good at, I now smoke most of my roommates on this because they always play the "flat" tracks like luigi circuit.

Hmm...never knew you can turn items off. I don't mind whether items are on or off. The only item I have issues with (as does everyone else) is the Blue Shell. Wario's Goldmine is one of my favorite tracks! :)
