But they lost... I wonder if people would fail to point that out had this been Kobe??? You don't have to belittle one player just to elevate another... Like dude said Jordan 49 Kobe 46 81 and a BLOWOUT WIN!! Let those numbers speak for themselves as well... Kobe been beasting as well.
@siyanur89 Kobe scored 81 vs the 2nd worst NBA team that year and 1st worst defensive team that year. This 64 pt game was against a team with Shaq & Penny that is a playoff team & would become an eastern conference finals team. Its different scoring on a defnesive team vs a non-defensive team. A contested shot is more difficult to make than one that is not. And thats not even comparing how a defensive team makes you work to just get the ball. These are facts as well.
Man, there was a rookie on the Magic this game named Shaq.
I think he got something like 29/24/2ass/1steal/5blocks this game and the bulls lost. 49 shots for 64 points is damned great. You'd need at least 70% FG if he wasn't touching the 3 in order to outscore a team.
I believe Jordan is the greatest basketball player ever(EVA!!), but I dont think none of us should diss Kobe, Lebron, Wade or anyone else. Its obvious that NO ONE compares to Mike but I appreciate the other players that came after him also. My only problem is the way some of our new guys think. All of the cute diva attitudes and the greed of some owners in sports needs to change.
@himovadere please dude. If Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, etc existed back in those years, youd have heard MUCH worse about Mike's attitude and how much of an asshole he was. That "cute diva" shit you're talking about TOTALLY applied to Mike...he just benefitted from playing in an era where it was much easier to keep shit under wraps.
@GrooTheWanderer80 Jordans level of hardwork and dedication to the game allows Jordan to be a diva whenever he wants to when it comes to basketball. Look at the clips of his highlights and accomplishments. This alone puts Mike in a different category.
@himovadere huh? You said the "cute diva attitudes" need to stop. I'm just saying, that exact statement applies to Jordan to the umpteenth power. If Jordan started playing in this era, he'd have been CRUCIFIED by the media for the way he treated his teammates. Mike was a ruthless asshole. Who gives a fuck about his "hardwork and dedication"...we know how amazing he was as a player. He's still an arrogant piece of shit. Always has and always will be.
@GrooTheWanderer80 Cute diva attitudes do need to stop. Unless you're MJ. Then your cute diva attitude is somehow an attribute. Jockers man, what you gonna do?
@GrooTheWanderer80 you sound like a bitter Laker fan, mad that the GOAT played in red and black and not in purple and gold. Jordan was mean, ultra competitive, and had that old school bobby knight mentality of berating his teammates verbally, yes he was an asshole but thats why he's the ultimate competitor. he was hardly a diva ala kobe, and ESPECIALLY lebron. I don't see how he's more arrogant or a piece of shit than ANY other great player. you have to have swagger to be great
@himovadere you should appreciate the players that came BEFORE him. jordan got his competitive nature from gettin his ASS KICKED UP AND DOWN THE COURT by larry bird . the same way people talk dominatting and never give BILL RUSSELL creidt for being the most dominate player ever , its even MORE DISRESPECTFUL to not give LARRY BIRD his credit as the best PLAYER (not athlete) ever . larry had SKILLS than jordan had ABILITY to make up for not having . jordan is jordan but he aint BIRD OR MAGIC
@liveamovie You assumed that I dont appreciate the players before him. Larry Bird, Magic Johnson and others as team players kicked his ass up and down court. I know enough NBA history to understand that the past creates the present and future. As an individual player no one has reached his level of play before or after him thus far.
@himovadere Do u realize that even Magic, Bird, Isiah, Dr J, Barkley, Olajuwon, Ewing, Reggie Miller, KG, Chris Paul, Pippen, Lebron, Wade, Iverson, etc...& even KOBE present MJ as the GOAT. Players have even stated that MJ in his early years wasnt surrounded by talent with the likes of Kareem, Magic, Worthy or Bird, McHale, Parish, Ainge or Isiah, Dumars, Laimbeer, Rodman. yotube Magic & Isiah on Jordan & u will see vid of them stating MJ didnt have enuff support in the 80s to win.
@himovadere Even when he got Pippen, the 1st 3peat was essentially him and Pippen with good role players. Then the 2nd repeat added Rodman and role players to bring up the ball, take outside jumpers or rebound/contest shots. Most other championship teams have had at least 3 All Stars. today teams are stacked like crazy. The Lakers had Artest, Odom, Gasol, Kobe. Shaq, Kb, van Exel, Eddie Jones. Then with Malone & Payton. thats just LA in the last 12 years.
@himovadere bulls did mroe with less. they just had more precise roles. Kerr, Beuchler, Paxson, Kukoc for shooting. Brown, Harper for bringing up the ball. Wennington, Longley, Rodman for rebounds & contesting shots. Pippen & Mj for versatility everywhere. Armstrong was the only pg that they had for scoring & bringing up the ball. The 2 major roles were for MJ & Pippen with VERY SPECIFIC roles to complement that basis. Lakers last year had 4 versatile palyers in Kobe, Odom, Gasol & Artest
@liveamovie you do realize who had the better teams back then?! Who had better talent & had better coaches?! Or do you not realize that significance?! Bird had skills but he also had a better team. Same goes with Magic. MJ in his early years nearly beat these guys with a nonplayoff team. Thats insane. He was a young guy that was dominating the league. Bird & Magic did mroe for their teams overall as they were more playmakers. But MJ did everything to win with scoring being the easiest.
@liveamovie So Bird, Magic, Mj would all look to score, Bird & Magic were more willing to pass. Be it they had better teammates or that MJ was just able to score more easily & didnt need to defer as much, Mj would score more & pass less. They all could score, pass, rebound but Mj could also provide steals. He was more athletic & more able to do physical feats on defense & offense. thats where the separation begins. Bird probably had the best method of shooting quickly & more efficiently
For those who talk about "eras", you probably started watching basketball in the 21st century. In the 80s, MJ faced the best NBA team ever, 80's Celtics. He also faced one of the best ever, Magic's Lakers. And MJ had to face 2 of the best defensive teams ever: Detroit Bad Boys & Riley's Knicks. He also faced the best team ever without a ring, Malone & Stockton's Jazz. He faced the likes of Magic, Bird, Olajuwon, Robinson, Ewing, O'Neal, Barkley, Drexler, Thomas, Miller, Kareem... So, plz, STFU
@yrogerg123 The most accurate comparison one can make between Kobe and Mike is that they both had injured wrists at at least one time in their respective careers.
I'm a mj and kobe fan but to me mj was the NBA the king of it the things he did his heart his refusal to quit on the team is unmatched and just my opinion kobe is after Jordan that's just me kobe do some amazing things too I mean come on I dnt care if it was the raptors that man dropped 81 in game lebron nor anybody in the NBA today might not be able to pull that off Jordan is the best to ever do it my opinion and kobe right behind him.
people thinks MJ hog too much and Lebron is a better floor leader...let me tell u ...as big as Lebron is...his fg% is not even close to MJ...kobe's arent as good either...when he can make them and win games...i have no problem with that...thats how he LEADS the team...rather than shying away
@WildWesttt7 the best player to ever drain a jumper. look closely. such skill and elegance in his jump and release. his arch to the basket is beautifully followed up with an orchestra of string music. dont try and undermine the one who has mastered the game of basketball. you dont win.
@k33n0n MJ has 6 rings (2 3-peats)... in 5 out of 6 of his finals appearances, he averaged 30 points per game.. he still won all 6, he just didn't average 30 points per game in one of them...
Not to mention that he probably wouldn't have been as impactful defensively if the hand checking rules applied to his bulls whose strategy was predicated on stiffling defense. MJ & Pipen would've been lesser denfenders and who knows how that would've changed the dynamics of their team....And their glorious legacy.
Yea- I i don't appreciate ppl knocking the hard work of players like Kobe. MJ was great in his time kobe is great in his no need constanstly compare and contrast the two....
@wannam01 dont compare and contrast the two?? what you talking about.. thats what people who love sports do.. compare and contrast past players to present. NBA 2K series has been doin it for goin on two years and im lovin it haha my point is, its what keeps the nostalgia of the game, the tradition, keeps people comin back, because maybe someday an athlete just as or maybe better than Jordan will emerge. if people could learn to compare & contrast in a civil matter, without the butthurt......
I'm saying that it's unfair to compare players who have played in different eras because the game, the personal and style of play have all changed so much that there is no way to accurently weigh one without unfairly giving the edge to the other.
@rohw0016 - lol, Kobe couldnt score then like he does now. He was cultivated in a MUCH softer league. Hand checking now is a FOUL. For the most part of MJ's career it was a defensive TECHNIQUE...hand check the offensive player toward the defensive help. But it doesnt stop there, off the ball chucking, wrapping players up & zones are a few things that have been changed multiple times to give the edge to the offensive player.
another perfect example of why/how MJ is the G.O.A.T.
he scored 64 pts against Shaq who's one of the top 10 greatest players of all time. top 5 arguably at his position. (even though he was a rookie here). majority of Jordan's high scoring games were against teams with Hall Of Famer's on it.
So although there were some of the best defensive bigs during this era, clumsy white bigs were more victimized in 1-1 scenarios than MJ who operated freely on a well-spaced court.
also grabing jerseys is really an early symptom of a defender ready to get lit--I'm sure that for every second of a footage of MJ having his jersey grabbed, there's a documentary on these same players getting lit
I keep hearing about the tough defense of the 90's but while there were prime perimeter defenders such as payton, dumar, pipen.... Jordan made a living off abusing clumsy white players with poor lateral quickness. Plus that hand checking rule benefiting players is complete crap when it comes to the elite, notice as soon as a player like MJ or kobe blows by he just has to stick his hand out and u can reach all u want, it happens so quick you barely have time to "check them".
@wannam01 you do realise that the defensive 3 second rule wasnt in place in the nba till the mid 90's, so even if jordan abused these so called "clusmy white players" they'd be a big waiting in the lane to clobber him. Also bare in mind he played in an era of power centers e.g olajuwon,shaq,robinson,ewing etc.
Handchecking wasnt really about on ball defending it was about off ball. There's hours of footage of MJ's arms and jersey being held by elite defenders such as your aforementioned ones.
I am aware of that, but clobbering MJ was actually counterproductive because that only fed into his foul line game. Everyone was so affraid that the NBA's golden child would get molested in public with no repurcussions, so calls on the bigs he got a lot of those. The bulls spacing on the floor was also so terrific that often promptly overhelping on MJ would enable him to set up his teamates and facilitate the triangle.
@wannam01 I concede that smashing MJ fed his foul line game, MJ defintely didnt live at the freethrow line like players of today. For example did you happen to catch the Bulls v Pacers series, in one of the games D.Rose got to the line 23 times!. Could you imagine if MJ had those rules, he'd be getting to the line 25+ a game. Team's and individuals weren't affraid of physicality towards him like the bad boy pistons of the 80's or the knicks of the early 90's.
Yea it frustrates me to see floppers like Ginobli get rewarded so often...But let's face it while Rose caught a lot of breaks on that night, Mj averaged nearly 9fpg in his last season in chicago when he was supposedly old vs 7 for rose last season. MJ is still the best ever but i dislike when ppl claim that MJ would average 25fpg or 50ppg. His average didn't shoot up to the roof with the introduction of the 3sec rule rather teams adjust accordingly to try limiting the damage.
@wannam01 Dam i hate hypotheticals lol. But you never know he could've, remember these rules were abolished when he was past his physical prime. But it's highly improbable even for MJ to average 25 fpg with today's rules. Also i reckon Rose' fpg is probably gonna sky rocket because he's becoming the "golden child" of the nba.
@wannam01 and even though every play you've seen where players are grabbing his jersey are of them getting lit up, still doesnt take away from the fact it would've been extremly difficult for him to get open. That's just the greatness of Michael Jordan.
I know that MJ is better than kobe....but I think the hand checking rule was most detrimental to point guards...PPl would often have no choice but to give MJ some space and he burned the league by capitalizing on good looks, he was also such a good catch-n shoot player that he minized opportunities for defenders to hand check him. In the post the hand checking did little to bother his trademark fadeway, and he didn't dribble nearly as much as kobe, AI or contemporary scoring machines
@1Eu4ic If you don't get the point then you're too slow to be included in this conversation LOL now do yourself a favor and shut the fuck up before i PWN you again bitch.
@balla4life215 but MJ was the only person on the team that could score consistently. Kobe is regarded as a bit of a ballhog because he doesn't have to take all the shots, Gasol, Bynam, Odom, Artest, they're all good scorers given the chance. But the Bulls had only MJ.
@farhannius Disagree! Never forget that MJ never won anything without Pippen. Pip was a scorer and he will be remembered more than any of the lakers playing besides Kobe today. For me MJ was a better scorer even though Kobe seemed to be best at shooting from beyond the arc.
@farhannius Scottie pippen was a top 50 player of all time, boasting scoring skills that none of the players you mentioned can hold a candle to. In fact the only somewhat consistent scorer out of all those guys you mentioned is gasol, and he is soft as hell lol
@balla4life215 okay yes Pippen was a beast, but it's like this: Lebron and Wade are both superstars, but they need to decide who is the main closer, the main man who'll take the shots. If they don't, then Miami will not win a championship in the Lebron-Wade era. Pippen and Jordan were both superstars and Jordan was chosen to be the closer, hence he took most of the shots and was rewarded with 6 rings. It's not that MJ was a selfish ball hog, he was the closer of the Bulls' offence.
And that soft player averages 18 points per game, a good 2nd option if you ask me. Granted he would struggle in the 1990s but you still can't downplay what Gasol did for the team, without him Kobe would have trouble reaching the Finals.
@iamhungey12345 hey it's really cute you tried to contribute, but your comment has nothing to do with what I actually said. The point was michael jordan took 50 fucking shots in this game, with talent around him that was a lot better than what kobe had when he was shooting the ball a lot for L.A back in 04 05 etc. Yet despite this kobe gets called a selfish ballhog while jordan gets praised for taking just as many if not more shots per game in his career. This game is the perfect example of that
If you want to know why MJ can get away with that, here's a part of the reason, efficiency. He generally has a higher field goal percentage where in his prime can exceed .500.
@iamhungey12345 I agree with all the statistics you stated, but they hardly support whatever case you're making. kobe was around 45 - 47 % for most of his career, while mj was around 50%. 3% difference hardly means one player is a ballhog and the other isn't. The fact is people only call kobe a ballhog because they ride mj's dick way too hard. mj fanboys are the worst, and they're stench is all over this vids comments...
@buckda54 Never said he didn't, but kobe was backing his shit up to when he was shooting the ball all the time for the lakers. He did get 2 championships w/o shaq, still got called a ballhog...
@balla4life215 Kobe had paul gasol bailing him out last yr against boston with his tremendous rebounding, especially in game 7, Kobe went as far as going 6 for 24 in shooting in that game as well, Kobe only had two legitimate games that series when he was a ballhog for a reason, the other five, he needed a big help from Gasol, Odom, and even Fisher at the end of game 3 to close that game out. But Kobe was a legit ballhog the yr before against Orlando though, he did back it up that yr.
@nba2k11ism Wow, you're an idiot. Just one example of this ignorance is when kobe was highly criticized for being selfish when he scored 81 points. Yet he only took 46 field goal attempts compared to mj's 50 in this game and made 28 of them compared to the 27 mj made in this game. Yet despite this almost 2 million people watch this vid and call this an amazing game/hop on mj's dick, and kobe gets called a ballhog/selfish for an undoubtedly better performance. You mj homers are ridiculous.
@balla4life215 be honest do u think if the raptors had a young shaq in the middle he would of been so efficent or even scored 81? cause he shot a lot of free throws and got to the hope a lot. im not trying to argue like a kid on here and im not a jordan dick rider i really want to know what u think?
@kanyecheddar1 I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. What i do know is that a prime shaq said on numerous occassions kobe was the best player he had ever seen.
@balla4life215 He said that when Kobe was his teammate. Kobe's per game stats are second to Jordan. Almost everything, scoring, rebounding, assisting and stealing, etc. It is the perfect time to compare KB with MJ since Michael played 15 seasons( 13 with the bulls and 2 with the Washington) and Kobe has played that same number of seasons too. Jordan at this state of his career( remember 15 seasons) had more rings, mvps, scoring tittles, etc.
@Thinker9713 are you kidding Kobe's numbers dont even come close to MJ his scoring is much lower with lower %, less rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, worse defender than Jordan and even out of stats Jordan had a better postgame than Kobe like LeBron you can compare their scoring better cuz MJ is #1 all time LBJ is #3 all time in ppg, he's a better rebounder than Jordan, better passer and arguably will go down as a better defender since he shuts down not only perimeter players but halfcourt sets
@Arvin0212 Yea. I defintely know that Jordan is better than Kobe. But please get your fucking facts right. Kobe scored 81 points hitting 28-46. And when did Kobe ever took 40 shots scoring 20? GET YOUR FKING FACTS B4 HATING MIND YOU.
@Arvin0212 - Thank you....EVERYONE watch what Craig Sager said about the NBA's defensive pre-95 and post 95. So, even in MJ's time there were ERAs and he dominated the league whenever he played. Just look at Kobe last year....that wasnt dominating. Oh BTW, Kobe is the same age MJ was when he came BACK. So age is not a factor.
@troyiscute123 he scored that against the toronto raptors......i dont think i need to say anything else but that swiss cheese defense and just to add that soft ass defensive calls they have in the league today in comparison to when jordan played believe me scoring 81 is not that big a deal as good as it may seem....
@Arvin0212 Ya but then u gotta look at it like this. Kobe took 48 shots to get 81. So I feel where ur coming from but Kobe has had plenty of games where he shoots like less than 20 shots and gets 40+ points. MJ obviously has more but regardless i'm just saying u gotta see it from both views.
@NCSportsMan70 You jordan homers are RIDICULOUS. So in 05 06 when kobe's supporting cast consists of smush parker, chris mihm, etc. and he shoots the ball a lot, he's called a selfish ballhog. Yet when jordan does shit like this with a top 50 player on his team and wayyy better talent then kobe had, then he's "doing what he's gotta do." A message to all you faggots: HOP OFF. Jordan ain't even the GOAT, kobe is. Ya i said it bitches, and you know its true. Deal with it.
@balla4life215 Lawl that comment just ruined your credibility oh wait you already did that.
More than once,why don't you get off Kobe and stop talking out of your rear.
Funny thing is any sensible Fan in there right mind knows Jordan is the greatest,will be until someone steps up,and it isn't Kobe or anyone in this era for now anyways.
I'll give you this,Kobe has been the best player in the league from 2000-2009 or 10 but he has had many years when he suddenly isn't "doing it".
@MegaSplash1 telling you to get off my dick and go get a life ruins my credibility?? Whatever you say kiddo. Seeing as you have tracked and memorized my previous comments, i don't have to repeat why kobe is the best. You know it. I know it. End of story. Hope you had a good time!
@balla4life215 Now I'm going to lay this down on you,and you better respond with something legitimate other than hurling insults and "opinions".
Back yourself up I have plenty of things to place here.
Heh..you might want to call your other delusional Kobe homers to Help you read,maybe you can read it faster.
I was gonna post fresh stats from one of my sources,but I'm to lazy I'll just let waff1eirontmacsplat pwn your a** when ever he see's you on this page,he owns you.
@balla4life215 Really I shouldn't even have to tell you,you should know already that Jordan is the greatest,I guess what all the other comments that prove you wrong are completely void to you,obviously Your in denial denying facts and accepting fiction,go and wallow in your fantasy world where Kobe is the greatest,don't forget to stop by reality we'll miss you!
Because between Michael And Kobe it would take Kobe 3 full careers just to fully eclipse Michael,and that is just the stat book,we can debate awards,Michael has him beat there too...like in everything :/
Your just ignorant of the reality that Kobe lost his shot at being "The greatest" if even if he is a "great"
His fanbase certainly isn't,sure throw more insults,it isn't changing anything.
@balla4life215 And no one said Jordan was not a ballhog,earlier in his career he was labled as one,would you always put the ball in the hands of Michael or Cartwright?
Would you put the ball in the hands of Kobe or Sasha?
I will add that Later in Jordans career he had "half" in fact not even half of a bench.(Kerr,Kukoc,and someone else I forgot)
Kobe's teams bench had capable Scorers the Bulls just didn't,they really didn't in 84/85/86/87/ in 88 they got scottie but even then the bench was-
@balla4life215 MJ always shot a very high FG% for a guard, unlike Kobe and Rose, and to score 60+ you're gonna have to shoot a lot, when Wilt got 100 he had well over 60 FGA and only shot about 56%, similar to MJs 64 pt %'ages
@balla4life215 How can they say they are Ball hogs and keep Kareem Abdul-Jabbar out of the conversation when he holds the record for Most field goals attempted in NBA History with 28,307?
@balla4life215 - to be the best player and most dominate scorer you gotta take shots. Compare apples to apple....would you want Kobe taking 50 shots or Jordan....the answer is Jordan. He's the GOAT
@01shan001 when you look up statistics, its important to look at all of them before you try to "burn" somebody... MJ shot 32% from 3 point, yes. Kobes at 33%, yes.. KOBES MADE 837 MORE AND HE'S ATTEMPTED 2397 MORE THAN MIKE!!!!! So like I said.. KOBE SHOOTS THREE'S, MIKE DIDN'T
@thehiphopdepot so at age 33 you can't even make a sentence other than "what's your point?" or "what does that mean?", pathetic.
what's your point with"kobe shoots 3s" then? you wanna prove he is a better shooter? uhuh. 33% vs 32%, can't see the difference. you wanna prove he has a better range? go see the video of mj's interview after his G1 performance in 92 finals. he doesn't want to sit out there to shoot 3s. he of course can make some 3s, if you know something about that 6 3s in 92 finals.
Love those OG Cardinal 7's!

Shermstyle23 1 week ago
@himovadere Even when he got Pippen, the 1st 3peat was essentially him and Pippen with good role players. Then the 2nd repeat added Rodman and role players to bring up the ball, take outside jumpers or rebound/contest shots. Most other championship teams have had at least 3 All Stars. today teams are stacked like crazy. The Lakers had Artest, Odom, Gasol, Kobe. Shaq, Kb, van Exel, Eddie Jones. Then with Malone & Payton. thats just LA in the last 12 years.
Shermstyle23 1 week ago
Shermstyle23 1 week ago
@Shermstyle23 You forgot Horace Grant for scoring and rebounding.
jason60152 5 days ago
@liveamovie you do realize who had the better teams back then?! Who had better talent & had better coaches?! Or do you not realize that significance?! Bird had skills but he also had a better team. Same goes with Magic. MJ in his early years nearly beat these guys with a nonplayoff team. Thats insane. He was a young guy that was dominating the league. Bird & Magic did mroe for their teams overall as they were more playmakers. But MJ did everything to win with scoring being the easiest.
Shermstyle23 1 week ago
@liveamovie So Bird, Magic, Mj would all look to score, Bird & Magic were more willing to pass. Be it they had better teammates or that MJ was just able to score more easily & didnt need to defer as much, Mj would score more & pass less. They all could score, pass, rebound but Mj could also provide steals. He was more athletic & more able to do physical feats on defense & offense. thats where the separation begins. Bird probably had the best method of shooting quickly & more efficiently
Shermstyle23 1 week ago

MJ was great in his time kobe is great in his no need constanstly compare and contrast the two....
wannam01 5 months ago
@wannam01 dont compare and contrast the two?? what you talking about.. thats what people who love sports do.. compare and contrast past players to present. NBA 2K series has been doin it for goin on two years and im lovin it haha my point is, its what keeps the nostalgia of the game, the tradition, keeps people comin back, because maybe someday an athlete just as or maybe better than Jordan will emerge. if people could learn to compare & contrast in a civil matter, without the butthurt......
rohw0016 5 months ago
@rohw0016
I'm saying that it's unfair to compare players who have played in different eras because the game, the personal and style of play have all changed so much that there is no way to accurently weigh one without unfairly giving the edge to the other.
wannam01 5 months ago
@wannam01 thats what makes it fun to think about.. could Jordan shred this era? could Kobe shred that era?
and people are allowed to have favorites. im obsessed with MJ but i give praise to Kobe as well.
rohw0016 5 months ago
@rohw0016 - lol, Kobe couldnt score then like he does now. He was cultivated in a MUCH softer league. Hand checking now is a FOUL. For the most part of MJ's career it was a defensive TECHNIQUE...hand check the offensive player toward the defensive help. But it doesnt stop there, off the ball chucking, wrapping players up & zones are a few things that have been changed multiple times to give the edge to the offensive player.
Listen to what Sager said: /watch?v=Hcy_x5IKgEo
bigblkdj 5 months ago
another perfect example of why/how MJ is the G.O.A.T.
he scored 64 pts against Shaq who's one of the top 10 greatest players of all time. top 5 arguably at his position. (even though he was a rookie here). majority of Jordan's high scoring games were against teams with Hall Of Famer's on it.
frusionnn 5 months ago
what type of jordens mj have on @ 5:03???
sledrigz 5 months ago
@randomaznpooper
So although there were some of the best defensive bigs during this era, clumsy white bigs were more victimized in 1-1 scenarios than MJ who operated freely on a well-spaced court.
also grabing jerseys is really an early symptom of a defender ready to get lit--I'm sure that for every second of a footage of MJ having his jersey grabbed, there's a documentary on these same players getting lit
wannam01 5 months ago
I keep hearing about the tough defense of the 90's but while there were prime perimeter defenders such as payton, dumar, pipen.... Jordan made a living off abusing clumsy white players with poor lateral quickness. Plus that hand checking rule benefiting players is complete crap when it comes to the elite, notice as soon as a player like MJ or kobe blows by he just has to stick his hand out and u can reach all u want, it happens so quick you barely have time to "check them".
wannam01 5 months ago
@wannam01 you do realise that the defensive 3 second rule wasnt in place in the nba till the mid 90's, so even if jordan abused these so called "clusmy white players" they'd be a big waiting in the lane to clobber him. Also bare in mind he played in an era of power centers e.g olajuwon,shaq,robinson,ewing etc.
Handchecking wasnt really about on ball defending it was about off ball. There's hours of footage of MJ's arms and jersey being held by elite defenders such as your aforementioned ones.
randomaznpopper 5 months ago
@randomaznpopper
I am aware of that, but clobbering MJ was actually counterproductive because that only fed into his foul line game. Everyone was so affraid that the NBA's golden child would get molested in public with no repurcussions, so calls on the bigs he got a lot of those. The bulls spacing on the floor was also so terrific that often promptly overhelping on MJ would enable him to set up his teamates and facilitate the triangle.
wannam01 5 months ago
@wannam01 I concede that smashing MJ fed his foul line game, MJ defintely didnt live at the freethrow line like players of today. For example did you happen to catch the Bulls v Pacers series, in one of the games D.Rose got to the line 23 times!. Could you imagine if MJ had those rules, he'd be getting to the line 25+ a game. Team's and individuals weren't affraid of physicality towards him like the bad boy pistons of the 80's or the knicks of the early 90's.
randomaznpopper 5 months ago
@randomaznpopper
His average didn't shoot up to the roof with the introduction of the 3sec rule rather teams adjust accordingly to try limiting the damage.
wannam01 5 months ago
@wannam01 Dam i hate hypotheticals lol. But you never know he could've, remember these rules were abolished when he was past his physical prime. But it's highly improbable even for MJ to average 25 fpg with today's rules. Also i reckon Rose' fpg is probably gonna sky rocket because he's becoming the "golden child" of the nba.
randomaznpopper 5 months ago
@wannam01 and even though every play you've seen where players are grabbing his jersey are of them getting lit up, still doesnt take away from the fact it would've been extremly difficult for him to get open. That's just the greatness of Michael Jordan.
randomaznpopper 5 months ago
@wannam01
"Plus that hand checking rule benefiting players is complete crap when it comes to the elite"
...sure...so do I...but only the elite that's used to it....Kobe and today's era never had to face it...
bainksta 5 months ago
@bainksta

Michael Jordan took almost 50 fucking shots??!!! Geez and they say kobe was a ballhog LOL
balla4life215 6 months ago 12
@balla4life215 but MJ was the only person on the team that could score consistently. Kobe is regarded as a bit of a ballhog because he doesn't have to take all the shots, Gasol, Bynam, Odom, Artest, they're all good scorers given the chance. But the Bulls had only MJ.
farhannius 6 months ago
@farhannius Disagree! Never forget that MJ never won anything without Pippen. Pip was a scorer and he will be remembered more than any of the lakers playing besides Kobe today. For me MJ was a better scorer even though Kobe seemed to be best at shooting from beyond the arc.
TheShazam76 6 months ago
@farhannius Scottie pippen was a top 50 player of all time, boasting scoring skills that none of the players you mentioned can hold a candle to. In fact the only somewhat consistent scorer out of all those guys you mentioned is gasol, and he is soft as hell lol
balla4life215 6 months ago
@balla4life215 okay yes Pippen was a beast, but it's like this: Lebron and Wade are both superstars, but they need to decide who is the main closer, the main man who'll take the shots. If they don't, then Miami will not win a championship in the Lebron-Wade era. Pippen and Jordan were both superstars and Jordan was chosen to be the closer, hence he took most of the shots and was rewarded with 6 rings. It's not that MJ was a selfish ball hog, he was the closer of the Bulls' offence.
farhannius 6 months ago
@balla4life215
And that soft player averages 18 points per game, a good 2nd option if you ask me. Granted he would struggle in the 1990s but you still can't downplay what Gasol did for the team, without him Kobe would have trouble reaching the Finals.
iamhungey12345 6 months ago
@iamhungey12345 hey it's really cute you tried to contribute, but your comment has nothing to do with what I actually said. The point was michael jordan took 50 fucking shots in this game, with talent around him that was a lot better than what kobe had when he was shooting the ball a lot for L.A back in 04 05 etc. Yet despite this kobe gets called a selfish ballhog while jordan gets praised for taking just as many if not more shots per game in his career. This game is the perfect example of that
balla4life215 6 months ago
@balla4life215
How many did he made it in?
If you want to know why MJ can get away with that, here's a part of the reason, efficiency. He generally has a higher field goal percentage where in his prime can exceed .500.
Highest Kobe had was .469
When you scored more consistently, it helps.
iamhungey12345 6 months ago
@iamhungey12345 I agree with all the statistics you stated, but they hardly support whatever case you're making. kobe was around 45 - 47 % for most of his career, while mj was around 50%. 3% difference hardly means one player is a ballhog and the other isn't. The fact is people only call kobe a ballhog because they ride mj's dick way too hard. mj fanboys are the worst, and they're stench is all over this vids comments...
balla4life215 6 months ago
@balla4life215

balla4life215 6 months ago
@balla4life215 Kobe had paul gasol bailing him out last yr against boston with his tremendous rebounding, especially in game 7, Kobe went as far as going 6 for 24 in shooting in that game as well, Kobe only had two legitimate games that series when he was a ballhog for a reason, the other five, he needed a big help from Gasol, Odom, and even Fisher at the end of game 3 to close that game out. But Kobe was a legit ballhog the yr before against Orlando though, he did back it up that yr.
buckda54 6 months ago

nba2k11ism 6 months ago
@nba2k11ism Wow, you're an idiot. Just one example of this ignorance is when kobe was highly criticized for being selfish when he scored 81 points. Yet he only took 46 field goal attempts compared to mj's 50 in this game and made 28 of them compared to the 27 mj made in this game. Yet despite this almost 2 million people watch this vid and call this an amazing game/hop on mj's dick, and kobe gets called a ballhog/selfish for an undoubtedly better performance. You mj homers are ridiculous.
balla4life215 6 months ago

kanyecheddar1 6 months ago
@kanyecheddar1 I don't know. Maybe, maybe not. What i do know is that a prime shaq said on numerous occassions kobe was the best player he had ever seen.
balla4life215 6 months ago
@balla4life215 He said that when Kobe was his teammate. Kobe's per game stats are second to Jordan. Almost everything, scoring, rebounding, assisting and stealing, etc. It is the perfect time to compare KB with MJ since Michael played 15 seasons( 13 with the bulls and 2 with the Washington) and Kobe has played that same number of seasons too. Jordan at this state of his career( remember 15 seasons) had more rings, mvps, scoring tittles, etc.
Thinker9713 6 months ago
@Thinker9713 are you kidding Kobe's numbers dont even come close to MJ his scoring is much lower with lower %, less rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, worse defender than Jordan and even out of stats Jordan had a better postgame than Kobe like LeBron you can compare their scoring better cuz MJ is #1 all time LBJ is #3 all time in ppg, he's a better rebounder than Jordan, better passer and arguably will go down as a better defender since he shuts down not only perimeter players but halfcourt sets

@balla4life215 Did I say that comment in particular ruined your credibility? No if you read that entire sentence.
I see you like to tell people to "hop off d***s" is that the only thing you can say when someone disagrees with you? Surely you can be more creative.
You are the only one besides all of those other "Kobe Homers" that fail to read.
Don't make me bring up the stat book,and don't fire back with that "weak A**" era" garbage the 90s was one of the if not the best eras in the nba.
MegaSplash1 5 months ago
@balla4life215 Really I shouldn't even have to tell you,you should know already that Jordan is the greatest,I guess what all the other comments that prove you wrong are completely void to you,obviously Your in denial denying facts and accepting fiction,go and wallow in your fantasy world where Kobe is the greatest,don't forget to stop by reality we'll miss you!
MegaSplash1 5 months ago
@balla4life215 then I want to add,can you do math?
Because between Michael And Kobe it would take Kobe 3 full careers just to fully eclipse Michael,and that is just the stat book,we can debate awards,Michael has him beat there too...like in everything :/
Your just ignorant of the reality that Kobe lost his shot at being "The greatest" if even if he is a "great"
His fanbase certainly isn't,sure throw more insults,it isn't changing anything.

@balla4life215 50 shots for 64 points is better then shooting 17/40 pffft Kobe.
MegaSplash1 5 months ago
@balla4life215 And no one said Jordan was not a ballhog,earlier in his career he was labled as one,would you always put the ball in the hands of Michael or Cartwright?
Would you put the ball in the hands of Kobe or Sasha?
I will add that Later in Jordans career he had "half" in fact not even half of a bench.(Kerr,Kukoc,and someone else I forgot)
Kobe's teams bench had capable Scorers the Bulls just didn't,they really didn't in 84/85/86/87/ in 88 they got scottie but even then the bench was-

@balla4life215 -Horrific.
I don't want to hear any more ignorant responses from you,if you cannot pull up the stat book you LOSE.
Stats is what gets players where they are,don't give me that "stats lie" or "stats can be manipulated"
Hell if that's the case,then why don't we say everyone isn't that good"despite what the stat book says".
Because that is what your saying,despite Jordans achievements he just "somehow" isn't better then Kobe who just happens to not measure up to Jordan.

@MegaSplash1 Pwned that noob.

1PedroAmor 5 months ago
@1PedroAmor
"unlike...and Rose"
...hunhhh!?!?
Rose is 22 years old and has been in the league for 3 years...why was his name in that sentence!?

@balla4life215 How can they say they are Ball hogs and keep Kareem Abdul-Jabbar out of the conversation when he holds the record for Most field goals attempted in NBA History with 28,307?

@balla4life215 kobe still is a fucking ballhog
the difference is kobe took 40 shots and only scored 20 pts
23ISLIFE 5 months ago
@balla4life215 - to be the best player and most dominate scorer you gotta take shots. Compare apples to apple....would you want Kobe taking 50 shots or Jordan....the answer is Jordan. He's the GOAT
bigblkdj 5 months ago 3
@balla4life215 haha yeah.. but hey, how else do you get 60+ pts? Do the math... unless you expect players to shoot a 100% FG

@bigbuzin555 Kobe shoots 3's, Mike didn't
thehiphopdepot 2 months ago
@thehiphopdepot Michael was a 32% 3 point shooter , kobes a 33%
01shan001 2 months ago
@01shan001 when you look up statistics, its important to look at all of them before you try to "burn" somebody... MJ shot 32% from 3 point, yes. Kobes at 33%, yes.. KOBES MADE 837 MORE AND HE'S ATTEMPTED 2397 MORE THAN MIKE!!!!! So like I said.. KOBE SHOOTS THREE'S, MIKE DIDN'T
thehiphopdepot 2 months ago
@thehiphopdepot with this much more attempts and still score much less than MJ, you know, don't tell people to go sleep when u are a kid
k13087911 2 months ago
@k13087911 yeah im a 33 year old kid, lol.. Can you please tell me what "with this much more attempts and still score much less than MJ" means?
thehiphopdepot 2 months ago
@thehiphopdepot so at age 33 you can't even make a sentence other than "what's your point?" or "what does that mean?", pathetic.
what's your point with"kobe shoots 3s" then? you wanna prove he is a better shooter? uhuh. 33% vs 32%, can't see the difference. you wanna prove he has a better range? go see the video of mj's interview after his G1 performance in 92 finals. he doesn't want to sit out there to shoot 3s. he of course can make some 3s, if you know something about that 6 3s in 92 finals.
