  • I just got my kit in the mail and the die cast metal thing is plastic... I found I really don't need it for driving the screws, its more for snapping the head off... I found all my joists and drove in 19 screws and I still have not found that sweet spot. I know this product should work, but I don't know if my creaky squeaky floor is being caused by something else or what? Any advice? Thanks...

  • Wouldn't it be easier to pull the carpet up and find the nails?

  • This product sucks. Bought the hardwood floor kit from the US because Canadian stores stopped carrying them for years (ie. home depot CA). They stopped selling them in Canada for a reason, this product simply DOES NOT work.

First of all, it was virtually impossible to snap off the screw without leaving a giant print on the floor. Second, no matter how many screws you use, the floor still squeeks like before.

Now I got to spend another day to fill up the little holes on my floor too.

  • Shaddup all of you. I used this under carpet on my landing, which sounded like a tortured cat whenever we stepped on it. It's genius - worked perfectly without leaving any sign. I even had to use 5 or 6 before I found the spot that killed the squeak, but it doesn't matter - you couldn't find the screws if you tried, without maybe using a rare earth magnet or something.

  • lets just drill holes in the floor. solves squeaks but I'd rather not have holes underfoot.

  • Great description but video clarity is relatively poor..looks like a great product but you might want to put more energy/$ into video production...i'd buy it just the same though but you didn't mention where it is sold..?

  • I agree with that. It;s sad that they can't feel the joist as they screw into it. Great idea and product though. I will definitely will keep it in mind for my customers.

  • This is a great product. But I must say, as builders and professionals, should we not make sure we glue and screw the sub-floor, on new constructions, all the time, to prevent squeaky floors?. I'm glad that most do not, for the sake of your product, and my business, but, I'm just saying.....

  • @crossfireservice

Most builders here in Ottawa Canada offer screwed subfloors...the problem is that the supposed tradespeople screw most of the screws into air rather than the joists. Its come back to pride in your work

  • @crossfireservice This is true for NEW construction, but people like myself who live in a 40 year old house that has floors squeaking all day, every day, this product is our solution to end this problem. Apart from tearing up all the carpet and subfloors, what other options are there? 40 years ago, nails were it for installing sub floor.. no glue, no screws...

  • were can i find this kit at in So Calif ?

  • Used it this weekend - worked very well - It took more than 50 screws for master bedroom. - it was a special order item at Ace hardware in Orange , CA

  • This video is very informative. I live in Toronto Canada, where can I buy this product?

  • would be helpful if there's a demo for hardwood.

  • genius, i was thinking how i would do it without ripping the carpet, this a good solution. i may buy the product.

  • Jumpdance and 604carpenter, you are incorrect. This product does exactly what it's supposed to. I haven't tried the product they have for hardwood, but I used this on rugs and it is amazing. I went through more screws than I expected (yes finding joists can be tough) but it actually does work. And they give you a coated screw that is supposed to be used if you have berber type rugs.

  • I have a couple of squeaky spots in my new home after it was constructed. I did not want to pull up carpet to fix the problem so I purchased this tool and it worked great!!! Carpet did not get tangled and squeaks were gone with four or five screws properly placed. The hardest part is finding the joists. The joist tool really needs to be a bit longer to reach down through thick carpet and the subflooring.

  • I tried the floor kit on my hardwood floor. It worked, but was a little awkward because the floor is only 5/16" thick (it would have worked better with a 3/4" floor). I don't see the point with carpet, though. I would expect square-drive trim screws to work well enough.

  • I agree with jumpdance24 if you use screws with carpet, usually the screw will catch the threads and it will look really bad after. It has to be nails without removing the carpet

  • 604carpenter, you're wrong. The screws do NOT catch carpet threads, but more importantly, nails defeat the entire point; the wood warps slightly, and nails move or slightly back out with the warping, as demonstrated by the nails originally used for the subfloor and/or flooring -- that's why there's a squeak! If screws had been used in the first place, there would be no squeak issues!

  • Finding joists is more difficult than that !!

What about pipes and electrical cables !!!!

Carpets will catch and pull threads usually.

This product is a load of shit suitable only for the mentally ill !!

    ffs

  • I think its a good product.. Im a carpenter.. and your a retarded home own.

The screw he used wasn't long enough to hit pipes or electrical cables idiot. Its code to have any electrical cables and pipes like 6 inchs down from the plywood.. So stfu home owner retard.

  • You sound like a really successful carpenter. Thanks for that.

  • I just tried this on my persian imported berber carpet and it tore threads out for 5 feet across the living room door! Is that suppose to happen? Just kidding. Just wondered if it'd do that to loop carpeting.

  • In the kit you will get a sample screw that has a very simple two inch piece of scotch tape over the threads, the tape just covers the threads as the screw moves into the carpet, it will prevent it from catching the carpet loop and causing a run, a real simple thing yet it works!

  • what if you don't have carpet?

  • It is supposed to work for hardwood floors also.

  • I'm a carpenter. Looks like a good product. Can you upload a video of you doing it to hardwood please?

  • just cut the screw with a hack saw

  • This is a great video. Will it work on hardwood floors without making an ugly hole?
