Our SGM came up with some punk-ass dumping water on the guy ceremony, but the NCO's added a 2nd ceremony where we punch the promotee in the rank. BTW, this is another example of what I've told my soldiers time and time again: "Never take photos or videos. You'll mess up and get on CNN and then your fucked."

This isn't blood stripes. Blood stripes are when a non-nco Marine is promoted to Corporal and gets kneed by Corporals and above while walking a gauntlet. Also when I received my chevrons, I was put against a wall so I couldn't back up. I did the same to people I pinned as well. Semper Fi. Glad to see traditions are still going strong. bulldogfarts1 is pretty funny hes got jokes you know. When I was in ramadi in 06 guess who had lost control of the city? the Army. and who had to take it back? US Marines. we had to waste our time back in Iraq because the Army couldn't do their fuckn job and keep control. just some knowledge for you Marines are not supposed to be occupiers, but thats what we've turned into because of the lack of good leaders in the Army.

A blood stripe is the red stripe down the seam of the dress blue trousers on the Marine Corps uniform. It's there for only NCO's and up meaning it's EARNED

I have all the respect in the world for any young man or woman fighting for their country, but when it comes down to it, just about anyone can say they were a soldier, but only a few select individuals can say they were marines. This isn't blood stripes. Blood stripes are when a non-nco Marine is promoted to Corporal and gets kneed by Corporals and above while walking a gauntlet. Also when I received my chevrons, I was put against a wall so I couldn't back up. I did the same to people I pinned as well. Semper Fi. Glad to see traditions are still going strong. For all the bleeding hearts that think this is hazing...walk a mile in our/their shoes before you judge.

Never in my post did I claim these to be Marines. Impersonating?Served from 94 to 01.I was a "PI" Marine who after SOI and MSCF training was stationed in Panama until it closed and handed back over to Panama.Later stationed at Yorktown Virginia (PRP command) until my time was up and stationed with my primary MOS fleet unit (3/7 Lima Co.).I'm not going to try and be the internet tough guy and look like an ass. they used to pin on the blood only on the collar, with the occasional knee thrown in to let you know where the stripe resided. the only time you got it on the chest was for airborne, air delivery, recon, and the comm freaks with anglico everybody else it was on the shoulders.... its all good though.
