Robert Alexander Baron Schutzmann von Schutzmansdorff (if wikipedia is to be believed), or Bob Symes as he seems to usually be creditied. To my delight it seems he's still knocking about today.
Thanks for the info but I think you're talking about the music that starts at 4.23 - Take 5 that was made famous by Dave Brubeck. I'm wanting to know about the music that starts at 5.37.
Bob Symes is a God what do we have now, spotty teenagers..this guy lives for what he is presenting..i am sure he is dead now R.I.P. A walk down memory lane that iiiissssss soooooooo good...
Thank you!, Brings back so many memories of the golden age before the young became "Sophisticated:"! I used to love this show, I wonder if they have the complete series on DVD?
I remember the Beeb used to do a lot of shows like this, I remember one where they built a mirror class dinghy!
OH MY GOD! Cant believe ive found this clip. My grandpa used to have this show taped on video that i watched all the time as a kid. Brings back sooo many amazing childhood memories. Thank you so much for posting it.
I remember this from the 70s. The models seemed so out of this world for being so scale. I still wish I could have the skills to build my own models from scratch.
i drove round it today ,some of those blokes are still members ,that workshop burnt down some years ago .and the trees along the back straight are so big now the track has had to be rerouted . as for evening classes . i couldnt find any round here but willesden colledge were going to run a course but didnt get enough intrest..young poeple today are to engrosed in play stations to want to go out !
Last I read about the north London mob was it was all still there, I went for a whole summer 1987 and still remember Model world the first time shown. Tracks are growing while evening classes and creativity are shrinking for our young people. I still enjoy this hobbie. Thanks for uploading.
thanks for uploading this, superb,I wasnt even born then,I was still swimming around in my dads sack about then.funny how a 33 year old film clip knocks the spots of "the railway channel",I bet the line has been bulldozed and built on by now,no more eve classes either.
mental mate , gawd knows where you found the clip, when I was an apprentice I always ended up making bits for the Normanby Park (Scunthorpe) crowd. AND told top secret government job .
This is one of the greatest things I've seen in a long time. I honestly hope they still do this!

I like that 2.5" gauge 4F. Its at 4:50, running parallel to the type of loco I have- a 3.5" gauge "Maisie" Atlantic

What is the music used at the end?
sambwoy3 2 years ago
I asked a couple of months ago if anyone knows the music used at the end of the film - but no luck yet.
If I find out what it is I'll let you know.
Mike11913 2 years ago
@Mike11913 That would be Paul Desmond's Take 5 buddie
Jigen7490 1 year ago
@Jigen7490 I know it is Take five, but it does'nt sound like the standard Brubeck/Desmond version of Take Five that you get on most jazz albums.
I'm prepared to stand corrected, but I think the version of Take Five in this video was most likely recorded by the musicians of the B.B.C itself
has anyone got any other ideas?

I just keep imagining one of those trains derailing with one of those guys riding it. :P
olishant 2 years ago
@olishant What's the likely hood of that?
NewController01 2 years ago
@NewController01 I really wouldn't know, but I'm guessing the risk is not very high. However it would be pretty funny to witness. XD

Superb stuff. ModelWorld got me into modelling. I remember sending for the book which came with a load of scale model plans.
Anyone know what the outro music is in the clip?
