Hey Ean Golden! I would really like to start DJ'in, but i am about to find the right product and this VCI-100SE seems pretty sweet! What would you guys recommend as a starter product?
@bidders77 if you go to djtechtools website you can download the tsi. Latest firmware for vestax vci 100 is 1.4. If you have a vci100 they also have the latest overlays to go with it. Really cool bit of kit. They are due to bring out a new overlay and tsi for traktor pro 2, so it might be worthwhile hanging on.

This is one bad ass controller, i happen to be on the road a lot and this can easily fit into a bag or compact place. @Play0nWord5 The VCI 100 SE is a custom modified controller by DJ Tech Tools. They sometimes come up for sale on their web site. They can also supply the components to do your own there are postings on youtube that show you how to do this. I have just customised my VCi over the christmas holidays by upgrading the firmware adding black arcade buttons and using DJ Techs overlay which matches the traktor map which you can download. Iam really new to " controllerism " and had never used traktor!
@greekeuroplayer01 well the sound card plugs into your computer via a midi cable, and then output of the sound car would be a PA system or some headphones. I'd get one of the external sound cards if I were you.
@dansilva1976 It's essentially a black VCI-100 with blue and white LEDs and a newer firmware (v1.3) without bugs (many, if not all, VCI-100s sold have a bug that prevents one of the effects on/off buttons to work properly).
Also, although the controls are the same the labels are very different between the stock VCI-100 and the SE model. This is because the VCI-100 is very generic and designed for Traktor 3. The VCI-100SE is designed for Traktor Pro and has a lot more features thanks to the custom firmware and custom Dj TechTools mapping. It is also a lot easier to use because it matches the software on your screen much better.
There's a mod kit you can get that'll convert any stock VCI-100 to an SE.

Hi Ean, I have this mapping and some of the bugs are, shift button makes audible clicks, and route fx button slows the track down. And if I use my mouse it messes with audio also.

Just wondering.. Can you plug headphones into this unit, or the soundcard.. or is there anyway you can use headphones to listen to the other track playing whilst not coming out the speakers? I would really like to learn to beatmatch, rather than just use the sync button, but am unsure if this is possible using Traktor Pro and this unit. cheers =)
@NeonStreak It is possible. You would either plug your headphones into your sound card or your mixer if your sound card is router to a mixer. This unit is independent of the sound outputs. It's just a controller.
@steingarden yea, the vci-100 is basically the samething i think but the vci se is the dj tech tools version, wich has the faceplate (that you can purchase for the normal one)

@greekeuroplayer01 well the sound card plugs into your computer via a midi cable, and then output of the sound car would be a PA system or some headphones. I'd get one of the external sound cards if I were you.

OK, stupid newbie question: I don't see a VCI-100"SE" version on Vestax's website... What makes it "SE" (assuming Special Edition)?

personally, i'm using a Native instruments audio 2 dj... its the cheapest of the family, but it does what I need and is really small.
this comes with traktor le which you can upgrade to pro for 119$US.
this controller is cooler even than it looks in the video. a must buy for the digital dj.
