  • Pretty good!

  • One of the most melodic renditions I have ever heard! Great playing...If I continue to practice, perhaps someday I can sound like that!

  • wwwwwowowowowow

    amazing !!!!!

  • great song... great playing.... thank you LL!

  • King trumpet?Thanks..

    Nice playing ..

  • Actually, nice tone, good partials and intonations.

Now, take this in front of 1000 people up an octave and you will get the real life sensation of playing where most cannot!

    All the best!

  • Nice job man, interpretation and ton is everything and you have them in abundance. keep play and keep inspiring.

  • very nice....BRAVO!!!

  • Bravo!

    Nice job!

I enjoyed your playing...and your interpretation. That's what music is all about - letting each person express themselves!

Also, I believe you've posted lots of great videos of trumpet artists. Thanks! I enjoyed them too.

  • hey leather, i love your tone man. really nice

  • I really liked your renendition of this song.

I play a trumpet as well, bet you here that a LOT.

If you can take a bit of advise?

It would sound much better if you could give a little more emphasis on volume changes.

Try listening to this singer, I discovered her by accident on the radio. Her name is Eva Cassidy and she IS on utube. You will NOT be dissapointed in her music, and she demonstrates what a difference volume controll can do.

Let me know what you think ,if you care to.

  • @rlassy sorry, this made me chuckle :)

"i discovered her by accident, her name is eva cassidy"

shes not really a hidden gem ;)

  • Hello All,

Great Playing leather, nice tones like the echo, I noticed you pulled your slide ,what effect does that have? I am an aspiring trumpet player.

Check out Adam Palcewski (Exodus nice smooth jazz tones, great video, chris bottie rick braun feel. dolphinman8

  • Thanks for the kind words. Are you referring to the third valve slide? If so, "kicking" it out on the D puts it more in tune. The low D on the trumpet is normally on the sharp side.

  • whats good advice to make yur tone sound that smooth?

  • @dedios03 Legato tongued long tones.

    Deep but relaxed breath,

play F first space on the staff, "da-da-da-da", then E, F#, D#, G, D,G#,C#,A,C, continue the interval progression both up and down. Rest as long as you play. Take another deep breath, then play the pattern again.

Open your mouth cavity while playing this legato pattern, i.e., keep the back and middle of the tongue out of the way of the airstream, and don't scrunch up the throat while playing.

Tone will become smooth in due time.

  • thanx man I just got yur comment and im going to try it, keep up the good work.

  • @dedios03 Back in high school, a pro trumpeter was my tutor , and had me start my practice with the long legato tonguing , playing with a full breath until air runs out, rest and relax as long as you played, repeat, but increasing the up and down note intervals by half a tone each breath.

Sometimes , it's the more boring, labor-intensive, and non-musical repetitive exercises that give us the most marked results. Even when I was a very good player, I'd always start the day with this exercise.

  • Nice. I like the tone and how you have an echo in the room so it's sounds professional. I thought it was just you looking like you're playing with a recording dub, but it's legit for sure. That's how good it sounded.

  • Fantastic interpretation and performance.

It amazes me all these who ask......"what mouthpiece" and what Instrument you're performing on. I guarantee you, this man can pick up a student instrument with a "7C" mouthpiece and sound pretty much the same. I knew a young man who was a four year Texas All State trumpet player who played on a stock "Mendez" mouthpiece and had the best tone, etc. He finally "graduated up" to a Bach 7C in college.

He also played professionally for a while by the way.

  • equipment still has ALOT to do with you sound man.. not saying that his equipment will give other people his same tone, because more than likely it won't, but its still a big thing.. and sometimes i just ask what equipment people play on because i just like knowing... not necessarily because i want to try if for myself

  • nice echo in the room and nice playing

  • According to the description, the reverb was added later.

  • al mas puro estilo chris botti !

  • Muy pero muy bien,te felicito. Bello sonido, buena interpretacion.

  • beautiful tone man, what kind of MP and horn, thanks

  • great man, well done

  • with a name like leather lips i kinda expected u to take it up an octave for at least one verse, but it was still amazing

  • great sound man , what kind of horn and mouthpiece ?

  • beautiful playing!

  • Very nice! It's good to see some more playing of yours. I can certainly hear a bit of Chuck's influence.

  • absolutely beautiful, if I ever meet you in person, I'd like to steel your tone and musicality. Bravo brotha.
