  • It was all in good fun. I thought it was great.

  • You can read it in Aaron face, RSterban is no competition, when doing the paopao...

  • @chowman007 your just a plain ole idiot.......

they are both excellent basses and its not a competition.

You can axctually read it in RSterbans face that this Aaron dude is a bass wannabee.....

  • @doudecad no...Sterb and Aaron are just having fun...you my friend are interpreting some sort of competition between them.

  • @doudecad Exactly!! You can see Richards face after his note at 1:58 that he knows that Aaron isn't near as good as him! It's like he's thinking, "I bet that kid wishes he coudl do that!" Richard Sterban is one of the greatest basses of all time and probably the best living bass out there today!

  • @chowman007 no question aaron is better...for his and sterbans age u can tell sterban knows this guy is far to good this young and is gonna be one of the best ever

  • @ashgruber1 First of all once again this isn't a competition, BUT if it were, I am a strong fan of both Richard Sterban and Aaron McCune, and Richard's name is the one in the hall of fame and I'm sure he will be in more before it's all over. I think that alone should for itself sir. Aaron is NOT better, but it also comes down to personal preference on their voices but Richard's range is fdeeper and his tone is far superior.

  • look at them at 1:24

  • watch them at 0:56

  • hmmm... i see them going down hill very soon, i give them two more years, sadly they were a great group

  • @HunterStump what the fuck? Why why would you think that. They are going be good forever. This performance is legendary!

  • @ChrisisBass13 now is that f word neccessary?

  • @HunterStump Oh, stop it with with it's a sin to have fun crap. I'm sick of narrow minded, judgemental people like you trying to tear others down. Elvira is a fun love song. Ever read the Song of Solomon? It's part of the bible, even though I bet you don't read it. And I know 3 out of the 5 people you said would be upset and you are DEAD WRONG! They would have been right in the middle laughing.

  • @beatapt5 hahahahahahahahaha

  • @HunterStump Well let's see. Golden is over 70, Allen and Sterban are in their late 60's and Bonsall is in his early 60's. I saw these guys in concert recently and they've hardly slipped at all. If you didn't look at them you couldn't tell the difference between what they are today and what they were 30 years ago. They've held up better vocally over the years than just about anyone else. If they retired tomorrow they'd be leaving near the top of their game. Give them some credit they're amazing.

  • wait a minute...??????? Gold City singing country music? one of the best Quartet's in Southern Gospel and going to do that, Oak Ridge Boy's they couldn't make up there mind anyway, and they are going to bring Gold City into it, Tim Riley, Brian Free, Ivan Parker, Jay Parrack, Mark Trammell would be so upset....

  • Am sorry, but Aaron took it by a mile...

  • Can you imagine being the group playing & Gaither brings in the OAKS,be like following a bulldozer with a spoon,no need.

  • GET IT STEVE!!

  • Say what you want... Aaron can hang with anyone. I didn't think so at first... but I heard him sing "Under Control" and now I'm convinced

  • i think he just missed the note because the C# was really flat and almost a C. It is really hard to drop down an octave and nail the pitch perfectly.

  • no it was a straight up C# in tune and all.

i believe he can go lower. it was just a stage "oops".

as long as you can stay in key, you can do an octave drop like nothing. or at least you'll be able to fix it in a heartbeat.

i love aaron's voice and technique i just thought it was funny that he missed that bad.

  • i agree with you on the first one but the second mow he was trying to bring it down it was just too late at that point. i have heard the guy sing a f1, he can definitely sing lower.

  • i don't doubt he can sing lower. i've heard the f1. all i'm trying to say is he did a classic stage oops.

  • Its seems like the singer singing the second verse doesn't know the words Is this true.

  • Joe's just doing that for effect.

  • yeah,& it works.

  • He probably doesn't as the song is older than most modern singers, and Gold City is strictly gospel where the Oak Ridge Boys perform gospel AND country. However, the Oak Ridge Boys tenor (Joe Bonsall) did a great job at "feeding" him the words, which is common at multi-group performances.

  • awsome song gold city is awsome with they Oak Ridge Boys

  • LOVE this song SOOO MUCH!!!

  • Great music from America's heartland, we need a lot more like this.........

  • I"ve never seen nothing like that before. Aaron is having the time of his life. I think the crowd being so exited is what did that.

  • Just STILL love this!!!

  • I wonder what old Tim would sound like in this song.

  • Yeah trying to picture that is hard! lol, that would be fun though!

  • oh gosh yall. i cant get over this video, its amazing :)). love yall :)

  • you can tell Aaron is havin fun! lol

  • Just makes me laugh...no matter how many gospel albums the Oaks record, everybody still waits to hear "Elvira."

It's nice to see the GC boys cut loose and have some fun on stage. I think it's great that they don't take themselves so seriously that they can't let their hair down and just be normal people.

Gospel singers are people too, thank God.

  • With all due respect but Richard Sterban totally blew Aaron out of the water!

  • lets see.....Richard Sterban has sung this song in concert about a million times, and aaron none......go figure Einstein......

  • I don't care if you're a fan of Sterban... I like both of them, don't you have 2 eyes and 2 ears????????? you can barely hear Sterban... Aaron is lead bass... Sterban is only accompaniyng ! Of course... it's the battle on the microphone too... that also counts...

  • oh, and by the way... I know that everyone is on Fracmaster's back but I just want to add one more thing directed to him. Have you ever read song of solomon in the bible? It also talks about how beautiful a woman is (just like the song elvira does). So, I don't see what a big deal it is. What exactly about it offends you and why did you get so defensive?

  • Gold City's bass singer is stinking sexii! lol

  • WOW!!! I just LOVE IT!!!!

  • GREAT VIDEO

  • I thought that they did a pretty good job on the song. I also thought that I would never say anything negative about Richard Sterban (my #1 teenage crush), but he looks bad with his hair long like that. He needs a haircut bad. I think he looked his best in the 80's and mid 90's. He still sounds wonderful though. Would love to go see them in person again sometime.

  • Ok, people, now how about a group hug (lol). I will read over the words and then I'll comment on it. about the voices, the bass singer of GC, sounds better, eventhough, OB, sounded more mature. Great future ahead.

  • wow, aaron really sings it on this one

  • Quite enjoyable. Two of my favorite groups singing an old favorite. To Fracmaster, I will only say this, YOU NEED TO GROW UP!

  • Quite enjoyable. Two of my favorite groups singing an old favorite. To Fracmaster, I will only say this, YOU NEED TO GROW UP!

  • I find the song very amusing. My name is actually Elvira, so it's very funny to hear. :-) Never heard of them before until now but then ofcourse, I'm only 18

  • We need to be adults enough to accep whatever is said. But I have to say this. Christian means christ like. If we are Christ like, our attitude and actions reflect it, yes we try to say things not to offend anyone, but if the truth is spoken, and the truth offends, would you be offended by Jesus. Jesus called People Hypocrites. People now days would rather hear a lie than the truth, the truth will set you free if you let it. And if We are Christ like, we want to show Jesus Only, Not the World.

  • Whoever doesnt like this video must be gay!! The song talks about a guy going on a date with a girl and getting married. If you dont like Gold City singing about women you must be stupid!!! I love Southern Gospel music. My dad has traveled all my life. Its the only music I have ever known, but this doesnt bother me.

  • VERY 'mature' and Christian of you... how old did you say you were??

  • Who do you know that WOULDN'T want to share the stage with the Oak Ridge Boys during this song? I MOST CERTAINLY WOULD!!!!

  • Oh, yeah. And He may not ask us to sing it when we get to Heaven, but how many Southern Gospel songs do you think He'll have us sing, either? (By the way, I do love Southern Gospel, though, just trying to make a point!)

  • Why do you call this song evil. Have you ever actually listened to the words? All it is is just a love song to his fiance named Elvira and he's just describing how beautiful she is to him.

  • cool video! especially love the part aaron does the bow ow part...or however u say/spell it!

Love you guys! Yall toatally ROCK!

    <3

    Mandy

  • You can tell that Aaron really loves his part on the second time they do the oom poppa mow mow, when Richard and Aaron bury the mike!

  • Those heathens (just kidding)

  • I can only hear Aaron McCune on bass, where's Sterban??? He's out of volume!

  • my mom went to see them and she a big fan of gold city and oak ridge boys I wasn't able to go ty for posting this cause i wanted to see them sing plus I seen two of my friend in the video too.

  • Hey Gold City, just remember you are southern gospel not country.I really like you guys but think about the words you are singing in this song.Let the Oak Ridge Boys do their thing and you do yours.

  • Now That Was RUDE...Christians can have FUN you know...Nothing in the song Elvira is rude or offensive...It is a FUN song period..Christians non-christians love the song..I would love to see Gold City and the boys sing more with the oaks like Come On In or Dig a little deeper

  • It's good to have fun but the word FUN is not in the Bible.

  • Southern Gospel is not in the Bible either...

Bass singer, Baritone, Lead, and Tenor 1 is not in the Bible either...

Singing a "special" in a church service is not in the Bible either...

Does that automatically make it bad? David sang...so did many other prophets, Kings, and followers of God...Jonathan sang and David played a harp....I guess they didn't have "fun"???? lol

  • Being STUPID is not in the Bible but you sure got that covered.

  • So...because I disagree with you, you feel it necessary to name-call...oh, okay...

I must admit though, your last comment was funnyl

  • Psalm 119:165 says"Great peace have they which love thy law,and nothing shall offend them".I guess you got offended about my comment,so get over it.

  • On the contrary, I thought it was funny. Didn't you see my post??? It's very clear that I thought it was funny. Of course, Satan is the ACCUSER of the brethren...do you have any need to accuse? lol...nice try...fracmaster...1 Corinthians 13:6 tells us that "love rejoices in the TRUTH"

  • So what your telling me yhe song Elvira is the truth, and we should rejoice in it.Also my Bible does not say"love rejoices in truth",it says,"rejoiceth in the truth".

  • lol....it had nothing to do with Elvira...it has everything to do with you assuming that I was "offended" when I had clearly stated that I wasn't prior to your statement..love rejoices in the truth...yes..."rejoiceth" has no more redemptive power than rejoicing...God is not an Englishman from the 1500's...Jesus is THE TRUTH John 14:6, not King James...but back to these singers...I'm sure they had a great time together.

  • that sure was rude..if they feel they could sing it and it not bother them..then that's their thing.

  • I'd like to add that one group had to have asked them to do it with them and the other had to have agreed. That being said, fracmaster, butt out. You must be ONE RUDE PERSON. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • Yeah...fracmaster...are you a Christian? If you are then certainly this isn't causing you to "stumble" is it??? Others seem to be okay with this...The Oak Ridge Boys have done Southern Gospel songs too so I guess you'll be on those vids too....

  • You are RETARDED

  • I'm a Christian...and I have substance to my discussion.

What do you have? Condemnation....but Romans 8:1 gives me and the Gold City Quartet something that you don't have....

    Have a nice day....

  • Wy dont you read 1 Thessalonians 5:22,it says "Abstain from all appearance of evil".Last time I checked Elvira looked like evil to me.Also read 1 Thessalonians 4:11 it says"To be quiet, and to do your own business" so why don't you do what the Bible says, and quit condemning me because I have some convictions. Have a nice day....

  • that was TO YOU...not to everyone. if you have convictions then that's your thing and i respect you for it..but don't bust others over the head with a frying pan just because they don't have the same convictions you do.

  • Hey Frac,

"1 Thessalonians 4:11 it says "To be quiet, and to do your own business.", Maybe you should take some of that advice and stop condemning others for their beliefs. You are no better than anyone else here.

  • When did I condemn anyone.

  • Have you ever thought about girls dude?

  • Fracmaster,

Well, if u look at your past comments, you will note your condemnation towards GCQ about singing this song? you took a holier than thou attitude towards those who corrected you. Just b/c GC sung a secular song, you jumped them about it & you also jumped those who got on to you because of your remarks. You took the whole thing the wrong way and got bent out of shape over it.

  • not trying to be offensive but not everyone is religious so refering to the bible doesnt really help much

  • okay just kidding. i just read through the comments...yeah void my comment. sorry!

  • I just have one question. When we get to heaven do you think God will ask them to sing"Elvira",I don't think so.We will sing songs that praise HIM,not us.Also you only need one ? at the end of a sentence. Have a nice day...

  • fracmaster you seem awful judgemental just because someone disagrees with you. you'd be better off just leaving people that disagree to their own opinions and not bashing them for what they think.

  • Thats exactly what im talking about,I make one comment and everybody bashes me for it.Why dont you listen to yourself, and leave me to my own opinions, and quit bashing me for what I think. If you really meant what you said, then you would have let my comment roll off your shoulder, and not said anything.

  • I was just pointing out that your convictions are just that..they're yours...why even click on this video if you felt elvira was such an evil song. just leave it alone and leave others to enjoy this. the simple and plain truth is this: your intentions may have been good and true..but your words come off with a condemnatory note. think about what you're saying. you'll attract more flies with honey than vinegar.
