Lee = ESP V, probably also with Seymour Duncan pickups.

*But currently Gary uses a Hellraiser V from Schecter, and still with Seymour Duncan.

Hammet + Hetfield turned their back on thrash/metal in general!! Yes, in the 80s they were an awesome guitar tag team. Then then became boring alternative/county rock, then nu-metal, now they're yting to be metal again, and they just fail!! Holt + Altus should teach them a lessin violence!!

@nodnarbdoowron How about, they were never as good in terms of riff writing, solo writing, or making good music in general? Metallica sucks. Their old music was good, but selling out is unacceptable. Exodus sold out at one point, and they realized how lame it was, and started making some of the best music on the planet (Shovel Headed Kill Machine, the entire album).

@tdag100 What I mean, is that the band themselves made a record that even when they made it, they weren't really proud of. Force of Habit was a huge mis-step, and there are only two real reasons why they made it, the first is because they were running out of ideas, and the second is because they wanted to change their style, in a way that most metal bands were kind of doing. Also, the songs you mentioned aren't NEARLY the same as their stuff like "Fabulous Disaster" or "A Lesson in Violence".

@Bassbait dude the only difference between thorn in my side and cajun hell off of fabulous disaster was that thorn in my side was in D standard tuning as was everything to follow and architect of pain was absolutely different but not at all "sell out" different if u ask me that song sounds amazingly close to things to come especially exhibit A listen to that song and then listen to the song atrocity exhibition i think youll be surprised

@GrandRiffAuto73 There is such a high demand for them live that you don't see with smaller thrash bands like Exodus and Testament. It isn't a contest of who the "most thrash" band was, it's the "biggest". If that was the case the only band left in the big4 would be Slayer. Even Megadeth and Anthrax grew outside thrash(though they continued to make good music in the 90s). I like Exodus more than Metallica but you gotta admit Metallica's first 4 albums are some of the best thrash albums ever made.

I love Hetfield to pieces but he was made for arena rock. not underground thrash. even back then. Lars is a posing fuck. And Kirk is too. Even though he was in Exodus. He wasn't cut out for the shit. Plus Exodus are older than Metallica (band-wise, not the actual folks in the band lol). Venom, Motorhead, Priest, Maiden, etc. THEY created thrash. they didn't play it, but they made it.
