Barbara Mandrell is the complete instrumentalist and vocalist -- performing professionally on about ten instruments -- Guitar, Mandolin, Banjo, Piano, Fiddle, Drums, Doghouse Bass, harmonica and a couple of horns.

She headed "The Mandrell Sisters" network variety show for about three years, until the 40-60 hours weekly put too much of a strain on her vocal cords.

She and some of her kids were almost killed in a head-on collision in Nashville.

She's about 5'1" and maybe 100 lbs.

Barbara's TV series was on the air for just two seasons, 1980-1982. Her doctor's informed her to cancel the show because she was suffering from exhaustion and other medical issues due to stress. Her car wreck happened in 1985 or 1986...so this was well before the car wreck. Marty passed away in December 1982.

She isn't on "anything" that I could tell...she was simply a lively performer, a few notches below Dolly Parton when it came to high-energy but what you see is vintage Barbara Mandrell...she's simply excited and full of energy...plus Marty Robbins was considered a heart-throb in his time...but no, she wasn't high on drugs or anything.

I'll also add that people aren't "on anything" if they're full of energy...I know a lot of people who, for example, think that this singer or that singer is on something simply because the singer is lively and spry but in Barbara's case, or Dolly's for that matter, I feel that neither of them are on anything other than a natural high from being on stage performing...and it's sad if people think somebody's doing drugs if the person appears chipper or lively.
