  • You sir, are the very essence of awesome-

    Instant subscription.

  • Haha, thanks a lot man, glad you enjoyed it!

  • It's baffling how low the viewing ratings of this series is. It's right up there with AronRa's Foundational Falsehoods, or TF00t's Why Do People Laugh. Amazing work, and a very distinct style all their own. These are the vids I wish I could make.

  • Wouldn't Homo Ergaster have been black? I was under the impression that all early ancestors started out black and then after migration out of Africa skin color changed. I haven't seen anything conclusive pointing either way, most of the time all hairless ancestors are depicted as white and I was under the impression that it was because the writer/director/artist was white and very rarely they are depicted as black.

  • Hey Percadan, I made the same observation! I'm guessing its just artistic license, as the video where I "borrowed" this footage tried to make a seamless transition from Ergaster, to Heidelbergensis, to Neanderthalis -- all of whom were portrayed as white. The producers shouldnt have strayed so far from reality, for humans didnt experience a change in skin color until parts of the world with less sun exposure became colonized, resulting in the diversion of energy away from melanin production.

  • Yes. Humans lost pigment as they moved north and had to absorb more light to generate vitamin D.

  • underneath chimp hair their flesh is white.

I seem to remember something from physical anthropology about why skin was white first.

    Me no remember....

  • Thanks! Yes, I realize it all depends on where you are and what your experiences are. For me, it seems unnecessary, but it is appropriate in areas with more fundamentalists.

  • Interesting series, but I personally find it strange that there is so much focus on Christian fundamentalism. It is probably because I am from Norway where Christians have no problem with science and evolution. I personally have never met a Christian who do, and I assume the vast majority of Christians in the world are similar. (The Vatican have no problems with science either, for that matter.)

  • Thanks for commenting. In America 50% of Christians believe in "Creation" -- that Adam and Eve were real people created at the beginning of time, when the Earth and Universe were formed. I'm not sure if the Pope has flat out denied the story of Adam and Eve, but the Vatican has officially recognized the Theory of Evolution to be an important scientific concept. However, there are many Muslims that do not believe in evolution either. Youd really be surprised how many people dont accept evolution.

  • not realy dunbass

  • Women boobies are bigger through times, because men keep touching them non stop through the day and night ( in different ways), which is a very big role in Evolution. 5 stars, cheer. *.*

  • @Tibly -Boobs evolved as body mimacracy (to look like buttocks) .Women where attractively stimulating coming or going .

  • Great series you've got here! I can't understand why it's so criminally underapreciated.

One nit I'd like to pick: We may not have evidence of ceremonial burials among heidelbergensis, but but a neanderthal child has been found carefully burried in the ground sorrounded by large amounts of flowers.

It shows that, like sapiens, neanderthals did on occasions care for their dead and suggests that this ability may have been present in our common ancestor - heidelbergensis - as well.
