  • wait a Minute!!! arent u the guy that made bttf cars!!

  • Instead plastic bag you should try to "wear" mylar survival blanket (supposed to reflect 90% of heat), and see how long it will keep you obfuscated from FLIR

  • Thumb's Up if you agree with wbeaty's, "Note: Trolls & spammers blocked immediately. Zero tolerance."

'cause I sure don't blame him one bit. I hate nothing more than a spammer and/or a troller.

  • Yes, you would be completely hidden walking around with a black plastic bag on your head!

  • very cool that sucks they're so damn expensive.

  • @linglingjr current prices about the same as gen-3 night vision: $1900. Google this cheap one: "flir scout"

  • blaaaaaaaaaaag!

  • Your funny. But cool

  • HAHA he squirted on the couch

  • very interesting, especially the 'seethrough' black bag :)

  • your really hot. hahaha

  • so awesome! :) great vid thanks for posting!

  • it is NOT ALOOMinum1

    It is alYOUminIUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • btw if it's a raytheon it's not a flir : ) flir is a brand, not a camera type but I suppose you could make it a type name like xerox machine. flir is such a stupid name (forward looking infrared) so I'd prefer we didn't : )

  • @DanFrederiksen "Forward Looking Infra Red" was a military term, to distinguish I think the holographic side-looking radars and sonars from the usual sort. I seriously doubt that FLIR Inc. invented the term.

It's sort of like having someone trademark the term LASER and then start selling Laser(tm) brand of lasers. Would you then say that Laser is a brand, not a light source? :)

  • @wbeaty laser is not a stupid name like flir is. forward looking infrared.

it's a damn thermal camera. if you point it forward that's your business. don't blame the camera : )

ever bought a forward looking single lens reflex camera in a store? me neither. it takes the dummies in the military to come up with something like that, not to confuse them about the side scan thermal imagers. I guess they melt down when they turn the forward looking camera sideways, hence the abbreviation FLIR :)

  • great video. more of that please.

how about hand in water, how well can it see through water?

  • cool ...a good clip always deserves multiple views watched it a year ago ..... still find it interesting to watch again now

  • Iron man

  • You look like Richard Kuklinski :D

  • Thermal infrared camo: Plexiglass.

  • Very interesting. I made my own firearm simulator that uses a infrared laser and camera to track it. I've been curious about making a live fire range simulator and I think this may work tracking the bullets.

  • mad jelly

  • That is cool!

  • @wbeaty If it did go to court, She would have been the one with the thermal camera.

  • I'd be interested in finding out if you could make yourself invisible to FLIR with a good layer of fresh mud, or even a Mylar space blanket. Anybody know about this?

  • Isnt there a warning label about putting bags over your head?

  • Does it harm your body?

  • Thank you for your very interesting video.

  • Just saw a video of cops using infrared to spot a rober from a helicopter, and got interested on the subject...

I here I am. Relly good video. Quick, strait to the point, and cool experiments overall.

That stuff is pretty amazing eh.

  • looks like a resent crimescene *the water looks like blood* (*) for the stupid people

  • nice

  • the subtitles put a (tm) after diet coke

  • interesting, what would be the perfect camouflage to escape thermal scope?

  • @Ph4ntom74 FLIR just removes the darkness. So use same type of camo as for daylight, but make sure the surface stays at room temp. Example: in the woods, you should be disguised as a bush, in the city disguise yourself as a collection of rubbish. But include a couple extra layers of clothing, and in damp woods keep the outer layer damp and chilled by evap.

  • Great, I live about 30 minutes (by car) from where they manufacture FLIR cameras.

Where? Danderyd - Stockholm - Sweden. Also do know that they were a part of the BOFORS concern (Celcius Tech, used to work there), still know a guy who works for them..

  • $1800,00??? Owww... Great low price!

  • That looks way better than what the newscasters own.

  • you're a very cool guy :)

  • so what's the point?

  • yeah thats smart, go ahead and put it on your head.

  • My dad is the vice president of sales for FLIR in Georgia. His company makes Skywatch units and were recently purchased by FLIR. They have the best cameras and infrared technology out there.

  • Wow, I wish I had one of those.. I have a house full of all kinds of geek and science "toys" and I'd like to add one of those to my collection, but they appear to cost hundreds or thousands of dollars on ebay!

  • @adric22 FLIR and Fluke just came out with cheap models for the general public (cheap as in $2000 rather than $7000.) But I wonder if it's possible to build a hobbyist version using plastic fresnel lens not germanium. Use a row of 100 thermal sensors and a rotating metal mirror. Search for "$10 Thermal Imager" by Phil Hobbs. He did it using plastic film with black ink conductor patches (PVDF piezo plastic is also a thermal sensor.) He should sell kits! Also see bit.ly / btexsS

  • I enjoyed your video.

    It was very informative.

Your thermal image camera is in deed worth its weight in gold - don't sell it.

I am a carpenter apprentice - I looked at your video to get more of an idea of thermal imaging before I buy one for thermal insulation purposes.

    Thanks again for your video.

  • I want To watch the infer red part in color and no sound and i would laugh cause h would look like a idiot

  • Thats SO cool! Great video. I love infrared!!!

  • is there anything that flir cant see through? ive heard ceramic tiles work well to block flir i wish someone would do a mythbusters thing like that on here to show what flir can and cannot see through far as i know no one has done one on youtube yet

  • @thomas242007 Can't see through t-shirts. Can't see through couch fabric. Can't see through aluminum coke cans or aluminum plate. Can't see through windows behind the couch, no bright outdoor trees. Can't see through walls of house. But if you made some black polyethelene pants, FLIR cam would turn you nude. At least make some holes in a black trash bag and wear it as a shirt.

  • @thomas242007

Infrared cameras have their limitations. Our eyes are sensitive to a relatively high frequency light, whereas infrared cameras are sensitive on the lower end of the spectrum. Scenario: The light we see with our eyes can travel through glass. To an infrared camera, however, glass is opaque. Infrared light doesn't travel through glass - it is either reflected or absorbed. Remember, IR cameras only measure SURFACE temperatures by directing infrared light onto its many sensors.

  • @jesseprudhomme2 interesting thanks for the info, but i was wondering if you ever heard of Z backskatter?

its kind of like a higher end model of ir if im understanding it correctly

  • Check out my Flir Camera video :). Just posted it. I prefer the Iron colour instead of black and white. I would use black and white for security tho.

  • very cool

  • raytheon nice

  • do us a favor and film the sky.... i think ull have all new videos...ur camera can pickup ufo activity if ur interested... Godspeed

  • Yes, everything should be hidden. . . Except your legs. . .

  • Easy way to catch a robber with a garbage bag on head

  • YES ! finally! a uniquely informative video on Youtube !

  • are the thermals with purple and red and yellow for how hot is a different type of thermal camera

  • I want to be you.

  • rip one off while filming

you'll make it to no.1 utuber if u do

  • @the26thhour Too bad it doesn't work. Methane isn't visible. Neither is 40C gas (otherwise you'd see warm air pouring upwards from all humans.) Now if I had a GasFindIR camera that's tuned to hydrocarbons, then methane would be visible. Also gasoline fumes, etc. Go search youtube for gasfindIR

  • @wbeaty - lol

I just assumed ass gas was hotter

but I'll check it out, cheers

  • What is the range of the camera?

  • @brentnowell It sees the sun just fine. So range is 93 million miles. This one has no zoom lens, and only 160 horizontal pixels. Distant people will look like white dots.

  • Well that plastic bag demonstration was a little...... sketchy.......

  • Hello, can you fart please on the iR cam so we can debunk that first flir fart video, thanks

  • U bought a camera for couple thousand dollars on ebay.. So you could put a plastic bag on your head and show it on youtube? Attacked by giants squids??? how fucked up is that??

  • @linderfan ad income from these videos could pay for several thermal cams per year. But I only needed one.

  • didnt your mom tell you not to put bags over your head?

  • @snipeyouout You've been watching too much TV.

In the world of television, whenever someone puts a plastic bag over their head, you just KNOW they're going to DIE. In the real world this doesn't happen (except sometimes to toddlers and babies.) If you're older than four, and you're still afraid of plastic bags, something is wrong.

  • cool!

  • He looks a bit like Wharf from Star Trek in infrared.

  • You should put the thermal camera in that trash bag. Then build a robotic trash can that rolls around with the trash bag camera. Who would suspect a trash can in the dead of night, rolling around following people would be a robotic hidden camera?

  • He looks like Michael Ironside in Terminator Salvation

  • Isit me or what i can see his brain?

  • kids don't put bags on your head.

  • lets put a bag over our heads lol

  • BLAAAAAG

  • I think it's time to invest in a new couch, yes?

  • @mrlemonbreath How do you think he can afford to buy stuff like this camera? Something has got to give. Besides the couch will come back into style soon enough.

  • @juicymoose007 maybe in your place it'll go back in style buddy, so speak for yourself.

  • 1:40 BLaaaaahhh! FTW!

  • Dude! How fun! I want one!

  • Don't put plastic bags over your head ;-)

  • very cool video, so how about one of those thermo emergency blankets? Can you hid behind one?

  • Prosze przetlumaczcie na polski PLISA !!!

Please translate into Polish PLIS! (In zięte with Google translator)

  • @HaRaKaSify Click upon the "Closed Captions" CC red button. Next, point at the red button CC and look at "Translate Captions Beta," and select the Polish language from the list

  • PREDATOR!!!

  • now...put it on an M200 and draw cross hairs on it then boom fun.

  • There was this company that sells handheld infra-red devices. I guess it uses CCD to capture the light and also a LCD display to show the red/green/blue image. It blew my mind when I stumbled upon it while searching for some unrelated thing. They have a cadmium selenide lens I think.

  • Good ivestment I buy one when its time

  • great video

  • This is a great Video and a fantastic proof for the fact that everything we see and everything we are able to percive is only the "tip of the iceberg". The sky is not blue and grass is not green...it's all inside our heads.

  • dude really, you spent thousands of dollars on shit to make ur mouth black and look at clear trash bags? wtf

  • @dopenes915 He probably works for a security company or airport or he bought it cause he is rich and 1800$ camera for personal use and you are an IDIOT

  • @rushinobby09 no, actually the income from high-traffic youtube videos and Sciencehobbyist pays for all my toys. And I use the toys to make YT vids and write articles for Sciencehobbyist. Quite nice little online business. (But I can't quit my day job just yet!)

  • @rushinobby09 Wow you rude to him?

  • @rushinobby09 dick

  • so the plastic I use to hide my grow room is useless?

  • you shoulda kept the trash bag on your head. woulda been cool to see you suffocate in "INFARED"! lol. only kidding, night vision would be creepier.

  • You should try a space blanket, that should block most of your body heat. I'd be curious to see how well that works. :)

  • @wbeaty i am a troll.

    spamspamspamspamspamspamspamspam,

    spamspamspamspamspamspamspamspam,

    spamspam,

    spamspamspamspam,

    spam.

    get molestered.

  • Is this a school project?

  • lol 3:05

for camera purposes, this looks very unsafe!

  • try drinking the coke while recording u might see some black in ure stomach lol

  • FLIR'D!

  • will a mylar space blanket shield you from its site"

  • I want one....:(

  • Joey wants to know when your returning the FLIR you borrowed,HeHe

  • Hey that's a great video.

    Bryan

  • How did you get one when they cost 6-10 thousand $.

  • @Wesley95501 people can learn secrets by reading the text caption below the video.

  • @wbeaty ? What?

  • @Wesley95501 Youtube videos have something called a "text caption." It's right below the video. See where it says THE FLIR CAMERA SEES DAMP SOFAS? To read the whole thing you have to click the little downarrow button on the right. If you read it, it gives away the secret technique for finding them cheap on eBay.

  • Awesome display mate, really nice and shows people alot about how it works and what it actually looks like.

  • it looks like ur wearing a mask in thermal

  • cool!

  • your head is like iron mans chest piece...

  • DUDE! i need one of these

  • WAAAHH!!! xD!!!

  • i can tell you right now thats a thermal camera. it just an IR camera. a true thermal has to be something like -200 dergees or so. if you really want to get by the FLIR just get a big piece of glass and you can go anywhere you want and not be seen. and for the one that wanted to know about seeing it a night there is no diff.

  • Question: Where do you hide the bodies?

  • @wantit1 When I die, I want a 'sky burial.' DON'T search google images for that term.

  • Don't search google images for the term sky burial...

Thanks for the warning ... I couldnt resist searching.

Warnings are made to dare people in doing the oposite :)

P.S. I cant belive people are dooing that.

  • @Echofromsomewere1 wut is it?

  • @wbeaty holy shit i should have listened to you

  • @wantit1 Lol

  • @wantit1 Long ago in our school biology lab there was supposed to be a brownish skeleton. It was donated by a guy in town. Turns out it was a murder victim. At least that was the urban legend spread by our bio teacher. (Next time, buy bleach?) Also, someone supposedly stole a leg bone, smeared it with meat, and let a dog carry it around until it was turned in to the police. Our classroom did have a real human skeleton. It had both legs, also major tooth decay.

  • ur face looks like a star. it reminds me of the power ranger masks

  • a little bit dark dude it is black lol

  • i want see how the camera work in the dark

  • I think if you put the garbage bag over your head and then tie it off for about 45 min. I am pretty sure you will not be able to see the body heat in the bag.

  • Hey.... I think you forgot to tie the plastic bag tight around your neck. He He

  • @UncleBlakie what's next?drown in 3 inches of water?

  • 1:42 wass uppppppppp !

  • @henrik8959 lololol waaaaa

  • You shouldn't have plastic bags over your head cause you can suffocate

  • @blank254441 aw your mom told you that?

  • @DamperenDK no I found that out the hard way

  • Nice vid, I have a small request. I would do it myself except I dont have a nice camera like that. can you try using a space blanket to see if that blocks the signature. Secondly, what is the effective range of the equipment you have. Will is spot you more than 100yds out? Again, nice work on the vid

  • hahah the heat that gets left on the couch when he gets up

  • It's a bad day to be an armed robber with a black plastic bag over his head instead of a balaclava

  • GHOST AT 1:04 OMG LOOK AT THE LEFT!!

  • @AVP181 it was the shadow of the guy

  • NO REMOTE?

  • don't drink diet coce

  • that is really cool im getting a thermal monoscope for my b-day

  • @smasher2441 Except that they cost $5000+

  • you look like a ghost on thermal something

  • keep up da gud work dood

  • Lmao ya look like iron-man with a beard thru the Therman Infared :P - was cool to see though! the bag bit was awesome

  • he looks like iron man

  • great video

  • hello ironman

  • what does Infra-red Reflective coated clothes look like through it?

  • That was really really interesting. Especially the Mirror and plastic bag part. I had no idea how this infrared capturing works using mirrors since they are only reflecting the light as i thought. I wonder how it would look like if you capture a ventilator (fan) and how the airstream would look like. Especially in different room temperatures.

  • wow

  • 1:39 HOLY SHIT! A GHOST!

  • Why are these cameras so expensive? I could buy a new car at their retail prices. Is it that infrared light from hot bodies is so weak? Does it require very rare materials?

  • And how about I troll just a little bit?

It's the reason I am on Youtube in the first place.

  • kool thanks 4 sharing mate well dun

  • No you are not hidden, you look like a jackass with a garbage bag on your head.

  • very educational :)

  • ej man this is sooo cool i want 1 2!

  • oh yeah, DUDE...

You have to catch a fart!!!

  • HOLY SHIT 6-7k!!!!!

    it was what i expected

didn't expect it to be cheap : /

  • themal scope on the barret 50 cal

  • @unknown281rule don't expect to use a garbage bag as cold blooded though..

  • very cool stuff

  • Can you use this to find hot chicks?

  • can you use these to hunt ghosts ?

haha just kidding i respect the deceased

those things are kind of cool though

  • Was the camera really worth it so you could play with it on youtube haha

  • lol wut if u suffocated in the bag jp kool vid

  • -though hot things can be bad too...

  • cold things are evil...

  • Hey, I can see his third eye from here!

  • I want one >.> Its cool when the sheriff look for people with these. You can see their foot print paths. I hear they pick up ghosts. I want one and take it to a park near me and see what I can see at night.
