I wonder if she ever studied with Suhalia Salimpour, or if she was taught by one of her original students. I just found out that US Tribal Belly Dance was founded by her in California and then her students branched off teaching it, and then in the 1960's-1990's they were branching off further fusing different types of music to it like in this video. some cool stuff!!!
Tribal was actually founded by her mother, Jamilla Salimpour. For an excellent history of this style, read The Tribal Bible by Kajira Doumanha (sp?). I agree very cool stuff!
well yeah! lol i meant that she carried tribal and so did the followers. i got the pics too of them when they started their first group its some awesome stuff as always. :D
I am from Brazil, and until here we have such some branchs of US tribal style, i made one workshop some months ago, and it was learner of someone branched or something like it.... Tribal is juts that crazy mix, i love it!
