  • the crossfit games deems the "fittest man alive" simply because it sounds better. do these guys believe they are actually the fittest men alive? probably not but for marketing reasons "fittest man alive" sounds better than "best crossfitter alive". the same way we call the best baseball team "world champions" when there may be a better team somewhere in the world. "world champions" sounds better than "best baseball team in America". just my opinion though.

  • Dead lift clean and jerks???

  • umm yea...imma pack a bowl.

  • There are multiple aspects to fitness. From being an elite athlete, doing ironman comps, cyclist, etc. You cannot take away the hard work and mental prep they do for this style training. It is as hard as any other competitive training out there.

  • And you mean to tell me that anyone who thins this Crossfit stuff is BS wouldn't want to Come out and trounce these guys and make money doing it? They don't because they cant.

  • @BeepimajeepBeep show me these super athletes and exactly what sport do they compete in? These guys don't train for the games they live his way as a life style. They are ready to go at this at a moments notice. Whoever you speak of, do they compete all year? Are they multii-fancied with their fitness or just miopic with their modalities?

  • fellas there's a competition out there that the Crossfit community throws out there called the Crossfit Games. You get $250k for winning it. it's not loaded towards any one competitor. The workouts are evenly distributed between Metcons, traditional Oly lifting and gymnastic style body weight excercise. If someone wants to challenge the notion that these guys aren't the fittest on earth, sign up, workout and take home $250k....nuff said

  • @nkyshaolin The time these guys train for crossfit, another athlete could train for another sport and far exceed 250k... I know of a ton of people who could demolish these guys if they trained only for crossfit. Crossfit has MUCH smaller pool of people to select from.

  • All of you that don't like Crossfit Shut. Your damn mouth why would you even watch this video? Just to be an asshole? Screw off you tools

  • Back-breaker situps.

  • If such an honest sport why make a 10kg plate look the size of a 45kg plate...and no it is not the rubber casing for dropping it.?

    Ego?

    Why cheat on exercises?

Do less and claim less - in fact - claim numbers you do not cheat to do.

  • @K8T0 this is a dumb comment.. where is there cheating? you are claiming there is cheating because of the radius of the plate??? foolish foolish foolish

  • I admired how hard crossfit people work. They are in good shape, but who the fuck are they to pretend to be the fittest man alive...

  • @garden1715 They arnt claiming that, the reporter is. Also they probably are the fittest men on earth......

  • @hobofeild1234 Ok , I apologize. For me, guys like Bryan Clay, Some MMA fighter (GSP, Chael Sonnen), NCAA wreslter are in better shape. It just my opinion...

  • There not saying "STRONGEST" they are saying "FITTEST"! i would like to see an Iron man last 3 minutes with these guys! Wont happen

  • Oh my dear God, this shitty video is long as fucking hell.

  • Comment removed

  • wow how or when do these guys recover? do they have off days? these guys are beasts!!

  • @YoungFitnessAddict They do. Graham says in the video how he doesn't keep this pace up all year, 5-a-days is suicidal.

  • crossfit is the jackass of all trades

  • And xfit people wonder why so many people loathe them. Do you REALLY think you are the fittest man alive?!?!? No one on the planet in any sport can make that claim...its all relative. Can you complete a full iron man? Can you climb a mountain? Can you compete in elite gymnastics or professional football? ...The answer would be no to all of those... but wait, you are the fittest on the planet LOL!

  • @fizbin4128 The title is just that and has been used to describe many athletes . To be a great football player, gymnast , ect you must have specific skill in that sport . To be fit you must posses , in general, strength, endurance, muscular endurance and flexibility . These games look like they encompass that .

  • continue.. the only problem I have with these games is the absence of weight classes . How is a 240 pound guy going to be expected to compete in a rope climb or endurance event against a 170 pound light weight ? If they change that then the games would be far better .

  • @fizbin4128 That is not the point, CrossFit does not specialize in any ONE sport. It takes the training of ALL sports. NOBODY in CrossFit is saying they would be the BEST in football, or a Gymnastics event, they are saying they are the best in overall fitness. Look up the fundamentals of CrossFit and it will make more sense.

  • @ChrisMThornton First let me say that I have trained like this for years. Long before I heard of X-fit. They did not invent it, just commercialized it. I am damn good at it and would take on any of their best. But if I ever went to their games and won... I would not have the nerve to say I am the best in overall fitness or as they say (the fittest man on the planet). Because it would simply not be true. I agree with most of their training but not most of their attitude.

  • graham holmberg = blonde bradley cooper? anyone want to second that?

  • @tclark00 edit: mixed with a hint of "toby" from The Office

  • This guys wouldn't stand a chance doing real tabata's. You don't have to do all that insanely monkey crap to build superior core strength and endurance.

  • THEY are not the fittest people

What I think they mean is they are the fittest of "Cross Fit" category,

Not in power, explosiveness, fighting, but "Cross Fit"

  • @greatdreams89 yet when you define Cross Fit, it includes Power Explosiveness..Fighting is a whole other category so thats not in it obv

  • do your cardio, and all your other bullshit. Give up on the olympic movements, cause you can't do them for shit and they are not high rep exercises, fuckin noobs !

  • Should this be described as the "fittest" type of athlete on the planet? That is up for debate. Everyone out there has a subjective point of view about "fitness" and what that entails.

Is an NFL lineman more fit than a Tennis ATP champion? Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Overall however I believe that Crossfit has an overall aggregate approach to fitness and athleticism that exceeds every other workout regime out there.

  • I akin Crossfit athletes to MMA fighters. MMA fighters are not the best karatekas, judokas, kickboxers, wrestlers, or BJJ guys in the world but they are the best at melding all these disciplines into one art form. You won't find Crossfitters who are the best olympic lifters, sprinters, high jumpers, or long distance runners in the world; but put all those sports and disciplines together, and you will find that Crossfitters are likely the best overall athletes in all those categories together.

  • i didn't know there was a fittest man competition in the Olympics. The level of ignorance in the comments are stupid smh. OVERALL, they are the fittest, not the best at running or the best at anything, but overall they would kill sprinters in upperbody.

  • @TheBalisto

canadian and american military use crossfit workouts in PT for their soldiers because they know what's good for their men. if you were a general, would you rather your men be able to lift alot and have no stamina, agility or endurance? or would you rather want them to be good all around?

some of the best crossfitters can still move a shit ton of weight, but they also excel in quick movements as well.

  • @polishdrummer94 I mostly strength train, and being able to squat very heavy gives me a good cardio workout and has improved my running, cycling endurance, sprinting and jumping. I think too many people put down strength training as if it doesn't carry over to other parts of athletics.

  • @TheBalisto

i was simply showing you an example that you don't need to be the fittest man alive to be in the olympics. strongest? yes. crossfit is all around development. they base their workouts on olympic and power lifting movements which incorporate the whole body giving you a whole body workout. its not meant to target any certain area, it's meant to get you fit. hence the name, crossFIT.

  • thumbs up if these guys were the nerds in school and now they are trying too hard

  • haters gon' hate. don't be jelly bro

  • Comment removed

  • @TheBalisto

fittest is different than strongest. have you seen the iranian guy with the world record clean&jerk at 265kg? he himself must weight 260 kg. sure he can lift it, but can he run a 18 minute 5k? i highly doubt it. crossfit is about developping all around fitness instead of focusing on one kind. alot of these jerks (like you) don't realize this because you've probably never done anything like this. try it out, see how much your body is hurting the next day, then go talk shit about cfit

  • @polishdrummer94 Haha, you didn't answer my question! :( Instead you choose to go off on some tangent about something I hadn't mentioned or made reference too. I've done crossfit before many times and its not that bad, just no oriented towards my personal goals although I still have to train in this style for my occupation. Also I didn't want to offend either, it was a question... Chill buddy!

  • you all that think they aren't the fittest on the planet have no clue about working out

these are the workouts that the navy seals workout with and the rangers workout with

the fittest men and women in the united states army

and rich and graham are doing this? i don't think you can talk any kind of shit on them.

  • The champions of the CrossFit Games are boasted as the fittest men and women on the planet, and they likely ARE according to CrossFit's model of fitness. The model includes "cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power,

coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy" so that really any feat that could be described as 'athletic' is included.

These people are the best at being able to complete work that fits into any of the above category.

  • Dare I ask you all to think upon the personal definitions of 'fitness' that you've concocted (likely on the spot) in an effort to discredit the accomplishments of CrossFit athlete?

  • CrossFitters are all-around SOME of the fittest people on earth.

Sprinters are good at sprinting. Marathoners are good at distance running. Shot-putters are good at shot-putting. Crossfitters are good at doing all sorts of work. Are they the best at running or jumping or lifting etc.? No. But they are certainly the best at running AND jumping AND lifting etc.

CrossFitters are the decathletes of the athletic world, in a sense. Likely not the best at any one event, but damn good at all of them

  • @alexanderjcats have them try and quality for the decathlon then.

  • @statisticool

Do you fail to grasp all simple analogies? Or is it just my simple analogy?

  • Fittest men alive??? lets see them run a sub 4:00 mile..... do they have a 45inch vertical?? Crossfit is such bullshit.

  • @BeepimajeepBeep fit isn't athletic

  • @BeepimajeepBeep practically no one can run a <4, and only about 1% of the population can run <5. Also those runners are only good at running. These men are well rounded athletes who can do a multitude of athletic events very well. In general it is difficult to measure "fitness" so there is no need to be critical.

  • @whocares1414whocares Crossfit should not be claiming they have the 'fittest men' alive. Crossfit is an utter joke... I don't see any other people saying they are the fittest men alive, and they are 20x more fit than these guys

  • @BeepimajeepBeep not Fastest, not most athletic, FITTEST!!! can a sub 4 mile person hit 7 reps of 255 for 3 sets on cleans and then run a sub 4:00??

  • @dowellday can a crossfit athlete who cleans 255 run a sub 5:00, or a sub 6:00? show me some proof. Anyone could clean 255 and a run a sub 5:00 with ease if they trained. NO ONE in crossfit can run a sub 4:00 mile... matter of fact very few people can actually do that in the world. No matter how hard these guys trained, they would never go to a sub 4:00 mile.

  • "Fittest men alive". Yeah right. Put these guys through the conditioning program for SEALS and they would get DESTROYED. Yes, im comparing them to the armed forces, so what.

  • @xKODIAKx91 watch the video of them doing SEALfit.

  • haha they hate that interviewer!

  • These 2 guys are insane, I can't help but think 5/6 work outs in a day is too much...but then again I'm not a crossfit champion.

  • You can tell how annoyed both of them are getting with each consecutive dumb question

  • 285? WOW HUGE BENCH!

    ......

    /sarcasm

  • fittest men alive my ass

  • @WatsupBroh strength, speed, and what you can do with your body weight are all factors...

  • @WatsupBroh How bout you go beat his workout

  • @WatsupBroh do you even know the definition of fitness?

  • isnt rich #1 now?

  • He's so huge O_O

  • ultra gayyyy!!!

  • Graham looks like Toby from The Office.

  • I want the interviewer to get punch in the face.

  • if he is the fittest man alive how come I haven't seen him in the Olympics or iron man competitions

  • @TheBalisto because those are specialized events. if you asked for real world functionality he would beat them both. he can lift almost as well as them, but they can do very little of what he can well

  • @intotherei Good point!

  • @intotherei I'm sure oly lifters can do all that

  • @TheBalisto Because olympic lifting is based merely upon strength and form. Iron man competitions is solely speed and endurance. Being physically fit is a combination of cardio, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy. You won't see any champion marathon runner lift anything close, nor any olympic lifter run a mile in a time even relatively close to these men. So to put it simply they're better rounded physically.

  • BassBlitz and ChrisMThornton put it the best. Sure NOBODY that can at an Olympic level can power lift at an Olympic level. Crossfit however is designed to push crossfitters to strive for the highest level achievable at all physical abilities simultaneously. To @WatsupBroh, I highly doubt some Youtube troll (probably you) can achieve what these men have. There is a reason SEALS, SF, and all US SOF forces do Crossfit everyday.

  • @TheBalisto because olympics are all about specialists, you dont have a "fittest man" event, you have a dead lift event or a marathon. crossfit encompasses being fit in all areas of fitness, like strength, agility, endurance, balance etc, they are the fittest in that they are fit across all areas of fitness, but this means they don't specialise. ironman competitions are primarily cardio triathlons, again the people who do that are cardio specialists. try it before you knock it.

  • Is it just me or would other people just like to see Rich's part. I could watch a two hour documentary on how Rich is preparing for the games, but Graham is so boring... GO RICH!!!

  • I think it's a shame that people believe all crossfitters don't do sports. "The sport for non athletic people." They're only showing the crossfit side of them. I'm assuming they all are pretty athletic at sports as well.

  • "do you like Eminem"

  • this guys questions (the interviewers) are motherf***ing retarded, who hired this guy?

  • You know what they call this in pro sports? Going to work...

  • there is one thing i really "dont like" about crossfit..and thats the fact that fx. the snatch is just RUSHED through...i mean, no really consern about form, just get it up! again and again..so asking for injuri.

  • what is that milk stuff rich is drinking?

  • @slimsouthern It's just milk. Regular and chocolate. I think he might have mixed them together, that tastes good too, specially after a workout. It's not a special type of milk or anything to my knowledge. Just milk.

  • I fucking like Richs hair *-*

  • Lets be for real, they are the fittest crossfitters that competed in the world, if they were that fit they would be a pro athlete, had a real record by a any recognized organization, or anything in the Olympics. Not knocking exercise, just these egos with crossfitters, plus all the bad form and obvious disregard to progression or personalized workouts. its cookie cutter, the same workout for all. have fun though and stay safe.

  • interviewers a retard...

  • just wondering, do you think any of the crossfitters are on performance enhancing drugs? seeing as there is prize money to be won etc

  • @iTzKR3W Yes

  • @iTzKR3W They do drug testing periodically during the games. Rich isn't on drugs though.

  • they're doing there "first WOD of the day" or first workout of the day of the day lol

  • 1:40: wearing a phiten and chewing gum while lifting. no wonder he wears a crossfit shirt

  • the only good thing they have is really just endurance. they don't do anything that requires speed, they don't lift heavy, and they dont need good technique in anything (not even lifting since they lift so light). i bet if you train a world class endurance athlete to do crossfit, he'll can beat both these guys like little kids

  • @atgcuz This is the dumbest comment I have ever read

  • @iLyRetro and you just posted the dumbest comment that can be posted. why dont you try to explain your opinion?

  • Working out to some Lecrae. Tight!

  • I think these guys just like working out...the crossfit hq guys want them to want to win the games way more than they actually do lol.

  • Just out of curiousity, where do these douches get the audacity to call themselves the 2 fittest men alive?

  • @smithers115 They didnt determine that theres a contest every year that decides it. But i have wondered why doing crossfit the best makes you the fittest man alive wierd right ?

  • @dkfjndfklhklfkldfgal Because just strength doesn't cut it. Or cardiovascular endurance. Or power. Ditto agility, speed, etc etc. Well rounded in all areas of fitness is what means you're the fittest. Good luck to you, and God bless.

  • @shannon1664 it makes u the best at crossfit not necessarily the fittest

  • @anhisking your and idiot ry doing crossfit at the level they do it

  • @anhisking What is fitness? Do we follow your definition, whatever it may be? Greg Glassman answered that question. Feel free to look up "What is fitness by Greg Glassman". See if there are any points that you can deny. Good luck to you.

  • does graham really smoke cigarettes? or was he joking?

  • that dude at the end was jacked

  • you can tell that interviewer is really beginning to piss the of them off so much by the end of it

  • A lot of the athletes in the pros/Olympics use a "crossfit"-like style of training. All of those athletes focus on what they compete in also. Football players typically weigh more, so they are stronger. Olympic runners don't weigh very much so they don't lift as much but run faster than most crossfitters AND football players. Basically, what I am saying is, crossfit is like playing football. You train for that sport, so the comparison doesn't work. "the fittest man on earth" is based on crossfi

  • yeah cross fitters are in no way the fittest, triathletes, most professional football players and soccer players, how about all Olympic athletes are more fit than cross-fitters. Respect to cross fit, but don't get to full of your self with those kind of titles.

  • @Enongacong It's all around fitness. I play football and find some things that crossfit offers "easy" and others are gruelingly hard.

  • @morselax012 true but the fact that they make that claim of being the fittest man on earth is a lie. Which brings me to my original point that professional Athletes have spent more years training at very high intensities. Olympic athletes especially spend their whole lives since childhood working on perfecting technique in their sport while also being as good , if not better at Olympic lifts. Crossfit athletes are good but they are not world class.

  • @Enongacong World class normally means being very good at one thing. Also called being a specialist. Now, throw in other sports and types of training, those world class athletes are logically going to be weaker in areas they arent specialized in. Crossfit just brings it all together. these two guys wont ever out swim michael phelps, or out run a kenya marathoner. That's not the point.

  • 12:45 one needs something to do, in order to give meaning to ones life... rich lives for this...

  • jhova, theres a bunch of them crossfitpb is pretty awesome. do a strength bias program which is what you want

  • "fittest in the world" my ass. these people are the best at crossfit, a retarded workout regimine for non-athletes. You can't tell me these guys are in better shape than a lot of world class athletes. bullshit

  • @1717johnsmith athletes of which sport might I ask?

  • @daxpwn hm.. world class sprinters, nfl running backs and wideouts, many of the elite nba players.. the list goes on. these are nowhere near the fittest in the world.

  • @1717johnsmith sprinters yes will be able to run a faster 100m, 200m ect.. Running back might be able to explode and run around guys, yea nba players can dunk and jog up and down a court. These guys might not be the "fittest" in the world but as far as a mix of cardio, heavy weights and body weight compounds goes I challenge you to find me someone better than these two guys.

  • @daxpwn sir, all these sprinters, football players, nba players all have top notch cardio. As for heavy weights please. Any Nfl player could out lift cross fit athletes. Even college football athletes can hang clean over 400 lbs which is difficult for most cross fit athletes.

  • @1717johnsmith As far as all round fitness, yes they are.

  • @1717johnsmith look up and crossfit workout and say that again without laughing at how stupid you where.

  • @1717johnsmith 100 % agree. I would also say that they have an awesome gym, too bad they dont know how to use it. LOL

  • cross fit my ass..

  • humble

  • I like how it cuts out his religion speech... -__- I wanted to hear it

  • This video is amazing. I can't wait to start training for this. Does anyone know any gyms around San Diego that only deal with cross fit?

  • @jhova323 can't say that i do. get to know the ER though, you'll see what i mean.

  • @jhova323 You can go to crossfit.com and they have a cf gym finder map.

  • 34:50 Lecrae in the background!!!

  • It's unbelievable how Rich has lost the first place, but yet he had great attitude all the time ! Great sportsman !!

  • wheres the tahoe video???

  • Holy shit. That facility looks pretty damn nice.

  • The guy doing the interview is horrible.

  • @Christiantodd1

    i double that!!

  • this rich guy is 100% on steriods/hgh probably epo also year round. They need to start drug testing these contests.

  • @desembodic they have drug testing at the games, he's an elite athlete who trains well don't be bitter because your not as good as him

  • @desembodic not at all, hes never touched steroids or hgh. hes nowhere near "unatural" size.

  • Needs to be a little more boring.

  • Great vid men...dedication right there!!!!

  • zzzzzzz...zzzzzzzzzzz...zzzzzzzzzzz

  • Love this short film. To all those getting caught up in the semantics of "fittest on earth", really??? Respect the dedication, the hardwork, take it for what it is, and go try Fran. BTW, i would bet anything that the elite CFs do indeed run 5 min miles.

  • embrace the suck

  • Damn nature, you scary!

  • this is an hour long vid shhheshhh

  • @1:02:47

  • Comment removed

  • How much sleep do these guys get? They seem to have very very long days!

  • Some of these guys really sound like bone heads "stupider stuff" ?

  • Comment removed

  • 2nd fittest man alive...lol....

  • Ask Michael Phelps to lift 275 pounds over his head and see how fit he is. Ask any one of those Kenyans who dominate the marathons each year to push that weighted sled 100 yards and see how fit they are! The Crossfit games aren't expected to be at the technical excellence of the Olympics. Olympic athletes are paid to train for 10 years or more to compete at the level that they are, and more often than not in a single sport. Give the Games 4 years and see how amazing these guys get.

  • @jasonhutchcraft You're just picking extremes. Olympic decathletes are capable of cleaning in the 350lb range and can run sub 5 minute miles. None of the reebok games competitor can run ANYWHERE near as fast as that. Wouldnt you argue running is THE foundation of human fitness? Also top decathletes can jump further and throw further than crossfit champions, again, I would say those are pretty basic fitness qualities. I think it is presumptious to say fitness men alive...decathletes win IMO.

  • @2011hwalker You're picking extremes also- you're comparing the numbers of Bryan Clay to the numbers of nonspecific athletes like Rich Froning. The slogan "fittest alive" is clearly marketing- but you're missing the point to crossfit by comparing them to specialists. Put Bryan Clay in the ring with crossfitter BJ Penn and see what that high jump does for him. Put a rifle in Clay's hands and have him sneak onto a beach like Dave Castro does and see who stays alive longer..

  • @2011hwalker They would be more than welcome to try out for sectionals... And the elite CFers can run sub 5 miles.

  • @jasonhutchcraft All i have to say is there are many people who can lift 275 lbs overhead, and there are many people who can push a weighted sled for a 100+ yards. But how many people could accomplish the things that Michael Phelps accomplished, and how many people can run like the Kenyans, just saying bro.

  • HANNIBAL FROM CALISTHENICS KINGZ IS THE FUCKING MAN.

  • These two guys are real warriors....

  • second fittest man alive? Not if he had to do an iron man or run a marathon or lift the most ... jack of all trades master of none, ever seen a cross fitter at the olympics? I like cross fit but thats some marketing BS if i ever seen it.

  • @007bootcamp they arent best at anything, but great in EVERYTHING.. thats much better than just mastering one sport!!! u can see it in everything, even in MMA, i doesnt matter if ur the best boxer, or best ju jitsu guy.. if u aint great at all u will lose the match!! the same things goes in crossfit!! thats why they are called the fittest guys in the planet..! they can adapt to everything!! AND THAT IS "SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST" ;)

  • @m3g1 Survival of the fittest is a referance to Humans having the greatest airobic capacity over any land mamal (we can run for longer than any other land mamal, horses included). look at Kahlipa can't run 5 km's without passing out, i just think 'fittest man or woman on the planet' is out of the question, when a crossfitter win's the most gold medals of anyone ever then that title is deserved.

  • @007bootcamp that kahlipa got gassed after 5km its his on failt.. but if u look at the most elite now a day like froning og SPEALLER, they can do everything! run,lift,jump,gymnastics.. that is what i call fittest man alive..

It doesnt really impress me with people that only can run for a long time, try asking a marathon running do lift they bodyweight on a snatch? or sprinters run many miles? they cant! is like in everyday world. u dont want the fastest car, u want the best over all car ;)

  • @007bootcamp being fit is being able to be great at all things. the games crown the fittest athlete. olympic lifting is a sport of its own, so no shit theres no crossfitters at the olympics

  • 28:00 Wow, crazy muscle ups handstand whatever you wanna call it :D !!! great strength

  • Congrats Rich for winning the 2011 games, very impressive performance!

  • shit its sad graham doesn't get enough credit

  • Anyone who still thinks Graham Holmberg's win last year was a fluke is delusional. He's not my favorite Crossfitter, but I can definitely say he deserved to win.

  • where does tenesse tech get all that money from...that gym is amazing

  • Holy shit it's so bright at 8:30PM...check it out at 57:30!!!

  • This games is almost like a Playoff season after the Colts are out (anyone but the Pats). I just hope RFJ doesn't win. Likes Eminem. Swears. Has Tats. And runs a website about god. VOM.
