  • So very very lucky Esther Ofarim. She sang and I was silenced... She is Israeli living in Germany, rather omfortable for having a musical career.

I am in The Holly Land - full of endless wars...

  • Brilliant song and excellent performence, pity though of the playback. How wonderful it would be to have seen her with big orchestra live, like on this particular album, which contains many more semi-classical gems. This is the Esther I always liked, not the popular songs, but the folksongs from long ago, with style and almost classical orchestration

  • translation:

I saw a tigress in a woodland dell

And at my grief the monster's fury slept

Where drop drop my tears of anguish fell

The marble rude was softened as I wept

But thou that art a creature young and pretty

Dost laugh at griefs wich move even stones to pity

  • Popular song of Calabria (south Italy):

"Vitti na tigra dinta na silva scura na silva scura

e cu lu chiantu miu mansueta fari.

Vitti cu l'aqua na marmura dura, marmura dura

calannu a guccia a guccia arrimmudari.

E vui che siti bedda criatura criatura

Vi ni riditi di stu chiantu amari

Vi ni riditi di stu chiantu amari."

  • Sehr schönes Lied mit viel Gefühl...Super Frau ! ! ! !

  • A wonderful song. What she is singing about?

  • Esther hat ihr Schönheit niemals verloren. Welch Dummkopf war Abi bloß, sie zu verlieren. Bei ihrer Stimme bekomme ich Gänsehaut. Auch die yiddischen Lieder sind unglaublich schön...

  • du hast ja so recht!

eine traumstimme und eine wunderschöne frau!

  • Ahhhhh - sheer bliss! Love the song, love the entire album from which it stems!!!

  • THIS VOICE KILLS!!!

  • Bad lip sync as usual :) I love this song.

  • at least esthers lip sync is still miles better than any lip sync of the youn female stars you see our days on MTV I am pretty sure that Esther wanted to sing live but that the TV staion refused to allow it and her neapolzitan accent is original accroding to my Italian friends Bravissimo

  • Kein Wunder nannte wurde Esther Ofarim in den Siebzigern die Callas des Folgsongs genannt. Five Stars!!
