My daughter and her new husband gave me a water smoker for Christmas. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful video. Your presentation is absolutely fantastic and I so enjoyed listening to your commentary!
i have question - for tomorrow (!!!) - we are smoking a turkey with a smoker very similar to the one in this video and are wondering how it works for the drip catcher. do we put the bowl in with water and other flavorings and then a drip tray above it and then the turkey on top of it all? does the drip tray block the heat/circulation? thanks!
I loved your video, and I love even more that you are American. It's awesome to know that there are still some immigrants whom honor what becoming an American is all about......you understand this.....I salute your patriotism! Thankyou for being a great AMERICAN!!!!!-----
Wonderful video. You are so cute! :o) Your English is fantastic and how wonderful that you share in our Thanksgiving turkey tradition (I assume that you were not born here because of you accent). Very informative video and your husband did a great job with the camera as well! Thanks for sharing! :o)
One recommendation would be to inject the turkey with some melted butter, chicken stock, honey, and spices. It will flavor the bird all the way throughout. Love smoking turkeys
Dear God, that thing looks delicious. I've smoked turkey legs before, but never a whole turkey. I showed a friend of mine this (To help describe it them -- they're Belgian) and now I want some. Perhaps one weekend soon, I'll do this (But with a chicken... Haha, a 22 pound turkey is too much food!)
Great video, this is a different way to smoke a turkey than the traditional way here in the u.s. I'm trying it new years day. Regarding some off these douche bags, they're just jealous they didn't think off this first. Notice there are no negative comments on your recipe.
Thank you for very informative and descriptive video. You have put a lot of effort and smile into this project. I must try this method of steaming/smoking.
I have smoked many turkeys, on the gas version of your smoker. People always love it, just love it! You explained it very well! Good for you! I could not imagine a better explanation. Thanks for an excellent video!
Must smell and taste amazing!! I will try something similar when I get my Webber Smokey Mountain BBQ. I wonder if it will make much difference using "lump charcoal". You only used a few chunks of wood with your electric smoker.
It's great that you have introduced us to a Chinese way (I assume) of smoking turkey. Most of the videos done by Caucasians just use plain water in the water pan. And maybe a few chunks of wood. That's it.
Your guests must have been so happy!! Lucky guests!!! :)
@AGC828 oh yes- charcoal plus hickory or pecan wood is much better to my tastebuds than electric or gas.I do like the way she has flavored the water in the pan too and plan on trying some of that.
I've watched your video 3 times now. I can't wait to try this method on sunday. It looks fabulous and I'm sure the taste is just as fantastic. I wonder how "the boys" from the south would think about this...LOL. I'm actually going to do another turkey in the more traditional way in a couple of weeks and decide which one is better for T-Day.
@wbkski Actually when you think about it-the pilgrams were the original turkey smokers-wood was all they had,so smoking should really be considered the "traditional" way. Now dude I know your smoked bird blew away your oven bird..Go ahead-testify! signed -boy from the south : )
A wonderful video to watch. I also have a smoker here in England and they are great for doing pork, chicken, beef, you name it. tastes so good. Thanks for sharing!
when placing turkey in, does the turkey not get burned on the sides from touching the sides, also how do the juices from the turkey not drip down and ruin the electric coil
Wow, that looked yummy! I just finished assembling my charcoal smoker, and I was looking for videos on smokers and I'm glad I found your video. I also subscribed.
Thank you....I am following method and just to make sure, you only put the water with the spices and onions and all once...does this water dry out. and you just leave it? also it was hard to understand how many hours it cooks for. thanks again for replying
I put about in 20 cups of water with wine and spices all at once, which will last for ten hours at least. Usually the cooking times varies from 45 mimutes to one hour per lb depending on how cold is the weather in your area. No need to add more water in the end. Happy thanksgiving !
Yah, stand there all day and keep putting ice on it to cool. The only truth I see here is that SoCal surfing is the worst on the planet but this video is about grilling not surfing
I want to put you in my shirt pocket and take you on adventures and then let you cook for me. You are so tiny and cute but make such fun looking food.
I really enjoyed this video! We just got a smoker and were feeling a bit lost, but now I feel like I've had an experienced friend come over to give advice. Thanks!
again,, Excellent Turkey smoke as I've seen quite a few pics of smoked turkeys but yours however ranks in the top percentiles and to have taken on such a large bird!
I made this yesterday...omg this was the juiciest and most tastefull turkey I have ever had!! Great job......thanksgiving will be great this year.....thanks gor an awesome recipe!!
thomascrown559....you are a worthless piece of TRASH!!! You go around youtube and message boards making fun of people. I bet it sucks to be you. lol... what a pathetic life you live. Grow up looser.

i've read that turkeys this big aren't good for smoking because they sit in the "danger zone" too long. no problems with that?
eitremn 1 year ago
@eitremn
Where did you read that? I can't imagine how "size" would make any difference.
wbkski 1 year ago
@wbkski
I assume it's because the turkey is so big that the inner parts don't heat up fast enough to prevent food born illnesses from taking hold.

well ice is the key my friend. lots and lots of ice. by the way, so cal surfing sucks !)
me3be3 2 years ago
lol... you route the smoke to a cooler area. Take a dryer tube from the top vent of the smoker and guide it to a box a few feet away.

Actually now, there's a vid of someone using a soldiering iron pen to heat a can of wood chips. You can use your regular BBQ to do it with.
