  • what is the name of the song? who is the artist?

  • @quinonezes86 . . . Thank you for your question. This is from the album Jacques Loussier Plays Bach, Allegro (track number 11). This is one of my all-time favorite reference CDs recommended to me by a colleague many years ago whom also uses as a reference for auditioning speakers and other high end audio components. Thanks again. Happy listening!

  • How do they sound with h eavy metal? I've found ribbons sound harsh wtih treble-heavy stuff =(

  • @HornSpeakersRGarbage . . . I imagine that they can be if not properly implemented into a speaker system, but when done right, heavy metal or any other genre of music will be reproduced to an advantage over most any other type of tweeter.

The closest music to heavy metal I have played through these speakers are Korn, Alice In Chains, and Metallica, and I found no harshness whatsoever.

Let me know if I can build you a custom pair with ribbon tweeters, or recommend a production model to you.

  • @theaudiophilestore I'm not interested in what U expect or imagine. I am interested in what they DO, in the real world. Tell me how they sound with heavy metal =) ALl the ribbon tweeters I've ever heard suk with treble-heavy material. They R really tizzy & grating up there. R these N E different? Same goes 4 metal dome tweeters. They all suk. Ribbons have more variation in design so who knows - perhaps some don't suk 4 metal, but ALL metal DOMES do! =D

  • @HornSpeakersRGarbage . . . Well, what models of speakers have you heard with ribbons or metal domes? Since we all hear differently or at least interpret what we hear differently (i.e. different tastes), this will give me an idea of your ear. Also, are there any speakers that you've heard that you particularly like?

For me, as far as dome tweeters are concerned, I prefer the warm sound of silk domes. People who prefer metal domes want extended and super crisp highs.

  • @HornSpeakersRGarbage . . . Here's a couple of YouTube videos from my collection of videos of some past ribbon speakers playing heavy cymbal music. The recording with the HiVi/Fountek speakers is not stellar due to the camcorder being used, but it still gives you an idea to the Fountek ribbon's smoothness with cymbals.

Let me know if you have any more questions or comments.

  • @theaudiophilestore I am ASKING U how they sound, because of course playing a RECORDING doesn't tell me jack, beause the krappy video camera mics wreck everything regardless of how smooth or natural it may sound. U tell me how they sound in person with metal. Thanx =)

  • @HornSpeakersRGarbage . . . They sound awesome! I forgot all about playing some AC/DC Back In Black (as well as other songs on that album) and man, it was so clean, crisp, and fast. All of the bloom and decay of the cymbals was there w/no harshness, no grain, no strain, and in no way was it fatiguing over long, loud listening sessions. Ozzy's Ironman sounded great on these ribbons as well. Find a locally-owned high end hi-fi store and have them let you audition a good pair of ribbon speakers.

  • @HornSpeakersRGarbage . . . I want to tell you that this recording was done with studio quality mics in an x/y stereo configuration. Just hook up to your computer to some good full-range speakers or throw on some good quality headphones, and you will hear a quality recording. My Panasonic camcorder was only mediocre at best for audio, but in my videos since April, I've been using the Samson ZOOM Q3 camcorder which uses the same studio-grade mics as the critically-acclaimed ZOOM H4N.

  • @HornSpeakersRGarbage . . . Here's a brand (BG) that has an affordable speaker line with ribbon tweeters that sound good with heavy metal. This video will explain the benefits of a ribbon tweeter... /watch?NR=1&v=KGl9ynC4F2E

  • Can I ask you a question?

I am very curious about how much you know about speakers.Hum!

Could you tell me in your own personal Opinion ...what is the best bookshelf speaker u have ever heard?

Please give at least 4 names in you own opinion.

I am looking for a speaker around 175 watts each. The more the better.I want to know if your taste match mines.LOL

By the way...you are the maker of those?

  • @Gioxtream I may know a little bit about speakers. ;-) I did make these. Been in the business for 15 years. Been an audiophile for 30 years.

The top 4 speakers I've had the pleasure of owning and/or auditioning...

    Merlin TSM-SE

    ProAc 1SC

    Silverline Audio SR17

    B&W 805

For a high power minimonitor, I can recommend the Silverline SR16, SR20, or the SR17 Supreme all of which I carry. Just go to my website at wenterprisesnw or silverlineaudio.

  • THE REASON WHY I ASKED YOU..IT IS BECAUSE PIANO IS THE TOUGHEST INSTRUMENT TO GET IT RIGHT BY ANY SPEAKER.

  • @Gioxtream...I agree. I know YouTube is not the best place for HQ sound, but at least with the Zoom Q3 camcorder, the sound is about as good as you're going to get here from a live recording. With that said, what do you think of these speakers?
