  • My grandma use to sing me this song! Aww, so sweet! (I don't know about the girl at the end...:)

  • lol thanks to SYLOSIS "Teras" i now know the English Country Garden song. lmao

  • Just brilliant ,my favourite ,what energy ,what a voice ,and singing a beautiful song (mind you Im biased coming from over the pond ) I really dont think ive ever heard a voice so sweet and melodic . Where are all the todays singers that can compare ,now theres a challenge, thanks so very much for posting .

  • yeh....why the heck is there a dead girl at the end?

  • thank you.

  • @bebinca Glad you enjoyed it. Take care.

  • Don't expect this to be educational kids. Half the birds are American!

  • @Jonsher123 I liked the song so I just added a bunch of birds and hoped for the best. Thanks for watching anyway. Take care.

  • burrnets??

  • Why is there a corpse at the end?

  • this song will be better if there is no singer... just piano

  • This is a great upbeat 1960s Jimmie Rodgers hit, somewhat reminiscent of Roger Miller's "England Swings Like A Pendulum Do" - a brisk, lively, cheerful song extolling the natural beauty of Great Britain's countryside - and, one of the few successful American salvos in the face of what came to be known musically as "The British Invasion." Jimmie Rodgers was an extraordinary talent, deserving of much greater recognition & artistic respect.

  • Why is it a dead girl in the end?!

  • My kids like this song.

    Thank you for posting.

  • sylosis?!?!?!!? jahahahaahahha

  • what a wonderful song ,reminds me of sniffing glue ,all those years ago ,AMEN

  • Murder In Midsomer <33

  • Looks to me you made a'video' of a slide show. Regardless, it is god

  • I think it's an American robin; a lot bigger than ours. Great to hear this song again though, it was a favourite of my Mums.

  • I would love to live in a place like the one in second 0:12 with a little veggie garden in the back and some chickens, cats and a dog or two

  • its a great song, and Jimmie is a beautiful singer but there is one huge flaw in this - THERE ARE NO FIREFLIES IN ENGLAND.

  • I don;t have that sort of Robin in my garden. :-)

  • lol it is our school birthday week and we have to learn this song!!!

  • i cannot hear anything

  • this song always reminds me of my nans garden

  • I didn't know you could play piano.

    I didn't know it either.

    Can you play hatless?

    What?

    Can you play hatless?

    I dunno, who wrote it?

    Classic. XD

  • What I like the most about this original recording is the whistling. Yhanks for the video.

  • Always sound like cliff richard to me.

  • 1:44 to 2:22 are definatly not British/ English Birds, Especially the Californian Quail. Do a Bit Of Research. Hehe

Im Sure You Wont Find A Dead Women Either, Made me Chuckle Though.

  • Lovely song and video!

    I enjoy that ..............

    Caroline from Holland

  • i heard this in school it's amazing :D

  • Is this the original?

  • @zaaritha no its not the original. It mentions "fireflies" which we don't have in Engand.

  • Great song! ,,, Haven't heard this one in many years ,,, Nice slide show too ,,, Thank You!

  • great stuff.bollocks to drum & bass and grime :-).makes me think of my childhood

  • My kids like this song. Thank you for posting.

  • Thank you for posting! There were one or two versions of this version on YouTube before, but for some reason they were taken down. I was really annoyed because I couldn't download this version of it anywhere, but now it's back! :o) Thanks for sharing it with us!

  • @propertyofranger I think the other version might be Rolf Harris's which is more of a satire in the latter verses, and it is on here also, I came to England at the beginning of 1960 and this was the first song i heard, this version and a big hit at the time, very nostalgic

  • Hmm. No, the Rolf Harris one is extremely memorable. The versions I were thinking of were not satirical at all, but quite lovely. But yes, I agree - this is a lovely version :)

  • What the hell. To paraphrase Queen Victoria "Close your eyes and think of robins". LOL Thanks for dropping by and watching and thanks for your comment. Take care.

  • @comnewsboy

it is an American robin. something you wont see in an English country garden.

  • I believe the bird shown is what they call a Robin in the USA and is not related to the British Robin.

  • @opo9JAMES actually, I think American robins and English robins are different. That last bird is what we in America call a robin. I've seen robins in English films and it's more of a small red-breasted blue bird to us.

  • @opo9JAMES That's an American robin pictured, I guess it was on holidays...

  • PS-made it a favorite!

  • Thank you indeed.

  • @enjoythevoyage
