I would also venture to say that if Luke was alive & in his prime during Yodas prime, Luke would have come in a far second. G. Lucas has listed Luke Skywalker as the most powerful Jedi Knight in SW history. "BECAME" is the key word...After the death of his father (Anakin), and, being that all other Jedi Knights prior to Luke's birth were already dead, this put Luke as the only living Jedi Knight. He set up the new Jedi Order,becoming the Grand Master Jedi Knight, and the Force Connection between him & his father & the ghost 's of (Yoda, Obi-Wan, Windu, Quigon Jin,etc.) Luke acquired power & skills that superceded all Jedi's before & after him.
I, for one, would not dare to argue with Lucas about anything regarding his facts about SW...since he is the author of it :) If Lucas says that Luke was the most powerful Jedi in SW history...then so be it. I interpret his words as meaning, of course after Yoda's death (Lucas has said that Yoda was the most powerful in the old order) and his trial, which was confronting Vader & defeating him...(ROTJ)..Yoda told Luke this himself...

It is very interesting to note the Semiotics that George Lucas used for the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader character in the Star Wars epics. It is very obvious that Lucas choose to give a "Jesus" look to Anakin in order to enhance the messianic features of him. If you look closely to the imagery of Anakin, it is like his modeled after the Renaissence artistic themes of Jesus. Could it be possible that Hayden Christensen would be cast in a future in Jesus-themed movie?

The most powerful jedi every was Garen Marek aka starkiller. he was trained in the ways of the sith but turned to the light side after vader abbandoned him. he wa s so powerful he used the forced to pull a imperial star destroyer out of the sky. he is the main caracter in star wars the force unleashed.

I think Luke isn't as awesome as Anakin was. Luke is actually like a Padawan-level jedi. His swordsmanship is no good at all, and his experience in the force is waaaaaaay more shitty than any other jedis. When he defeatet Vader, Vader was an old piece of junk, just a shadow of his former self. And in the last epic battle, he didnt really used of his experience. He was like: Come on Luke! confused in beginning thot. so anakin is luke father and anakin is darth vader... after fighting obi, he was left to die but didnt so he took the title of darth vader and made that costume and breathing mask to survive, so it really does go from 4-6, then 1-3 maching so basically 1-3 is a prequel. thats why in the end when he fulfills his destiny he looks like that with his mask off. cuz of fite wit obi in 3rd.

I suppose that could be considered a matter of opinion, though. Anakin would have been the greatest, and Luke technically is considered the most powerful after Return of the Jedi, but that still doesn't make him the greatest. He's too whiny... haha.
Well....according to G. Anakin was truly a great Jedi Knight, and is my fav. StarWars character...I was curious about the father of Luke for years, and it stirred me so deeply when ep.2 and 3 came out...I have a great emotional attachment to the character of Anakin.

I don't believe that. I grew up without my father, and have never stopped hating him. He did horrible things, and he was a horrible person. I know him for what he is, and I've hated him since the age of 11. Not all children foster that love.

Luke was great because not for war, if Yoda says. His greatest achievement was redeeming Anakin Skywalker from the dark side to the light side which destroyed the evil Empire.
Luke became the most powerful Jedi Knight because of his total and complete connection with the Force...not redeeming Anakin...Luke's defeat of Vader made him a full Knight...that was his trial...my opinion is that Anakin self-redeemed...

Luke is the only knight Jedi to have resisted to the Emperor without using his lightsaber. Anakin isn't the better Jedi. In my theory I believe it is how one developes communication with the Force, reguardless of the midichlorians, that makes them powerful.
He wasnt more powerful, Anakin turned to the dark side because he believed it could save Padme, and he wanted greater power, he was deceived. Anakin probably did finish his both Jedi and Sith training with Darth Sidious, and in ROTS Anakin was a knight, probably was close to becoming a master, turning back into a Jedi, if he did survive at the end of ROTJ, he wouldve been a master.

Luke is more powerful because the only limb he lost was his hand, meanwhile Anakin was reduced to a torso with a head. I think I heard somewhere he was reduced to 80% of his total power. Luke inheirited his force strength and didn't loose that much of it.

This is true for what I heard too. Since even the dark side needs organic tissues to generate (General Grievous cannot use the Force whether or not he was a Force sensitive since he had nearly no flesh). After his injuries, he could no longer take on the Emperor himself and needed the secret apprentice and later Luke to help him.
Wait. The figure 80% is true but not that Anakin lost 80% his power. I read that after transforming to Vader, Anakin was 80% the power of the Emperor, remaining as one of the most powerful Sith Lords ever. However, his grievous injuries forbided him from what Sidious hoped for. And Sidious obviously dared replace him upon finding Skywalker's son hoping he can reach new heights in the Order of the Sith Lords.
Personally, Palpatine is. Not only because Palpatine can use all dark side powers (while Vader can't use Lightning) and is said to be more powerful (Vader=80% Palp), but also he is a backstabbing strategist who achieved the goals of the Sith, bringing down the ancient Republic and Jedi Order. The result of a fight between the two Sith Lords may be unpredictable but as a Master Sith in every aspect, Palp totally rules.

Palpatine was a Sith lord. Had Obi-Wan not crippled Anakin on Mustafar, Anakin would have become much more powerful than Sidious. Anakin was weakened immensely when he lost on Mustafar; but he was still strong enough to wipe out the rest of the Jedi and help lead a Galactic Empire through force. Imagine how hardcore he would have been, had he beaten Obi-Wan. He would have overthrown Palpatine.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you speaking of the statement Yoda made in The Phantom Menace where he said that there are always two Sith: A master, and an apprentice? Because that Conflicts what Anakin said in The Revenge of the Sith, when he told Windu that Palpatine was a Sith lord. I know that Sith Master is a rank, but he was also a Sith Lord before he took on Anakin, correct? He became a master when he had an apprentice, right?
When Anakin told Windu that Palpatine was the Sith Lord they had been searching for....he was...he had no apprentice at that time...Anakin had not turned to the dark side as yet...
And about the argument about Luke vs. Anakin, Luke is stronger. Luke became grandmaster of the new Jedi Order, and became the strongest Jedi master ever. When Anakin was at his peak, he was 80% as strong as Sidious. Had Vader beaten Obi-Wan on Mustafar, his power would have eventually become twice as powerful Darth Sidious (This is direct from George Lucas.) Had Vader reached his peak, he would have, indeed, been stronger than Luke. Anakin was the chosen one.

I think Sidious WAS stronger than Vader without the Kyber Crystal, but it heightened his superiority over Vader. If Vader hadn't been crippled, he would have been stronger than Sidious, even with the Kyber Crystal.

You are absolutely correct ps... "BECAME" is the key word...After the death of his father (Anakin), and, being that all other Jedi Knights prior to Luke's birth were already dead, this put Luke as the only living Jedi Knight. He set up the new Jedi Order,becoming the Grand Master Jedi Knight, and the Force Connection between him & his father & the ghost 's of (Yoda, Obi-Wan, Windu, Quigon Jin,etc.) Luke acquired power & skills that superceded all Jedi's before & after him.

I, for one, would not dare to argue with Lucas about anything regarding his facts about SW...since he is the author of it :) If Lucas says that Luke was the most powerful Jedi in SW history...then so be it. I interpret his words as meaning, of course after Yoda's death (Lucas has said that Yoda was the most powerful in the old order) and his trial, which was confronting Vader & defeating him...(ROTJ)..Yoda told Luke this himself...

@Darthrotvic Anakin was the most powerfull, then Luke, then Starkiller and then Windu. After Anakin puts the suit, he looses power, but is still the most powerfull in the galaxy. And Luke was the most powerfull Jedi Master after Darth Vader and Palpatine died, and he created the New Jedi Order.
Kyle Katarn was one of the new guys there. He became second to Luke, because he very strong with the force.
And for me, i love Luke the most. He was the key for victory over the Empire.

@Darthrotvic well mate, Anakin was more powerful than the Emperor himself, but after loosing his legs and arm, the Emperor was stronger than Vader.
But after they died, Luke became the strongest with the force.
Anakin Skywalker / Darth Vader = 27,700

No...Anakin is listed by G. Lucas as the 9th most powerful Jedi Knight and the 2nd most powerful Sith Lord as Darth Vader...only 2nd to Sidious and only when Sidious was holding the kyber crystal on his body.

It is very interesting to note the Semiotics that George Lucas used for the Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader character in the Star Wars epics. It is very obvious that Lucas choose to give a "Jesus" look to Anakin in order to enhance the messianic features of him. If you look closely to the imagery of Anakin, it is like his modeled after the Renaissence artistic themes of Jesus. Could it be possible that Hayden Christensen would be cast in a future in Jesus-themed movie?

i know for a fact that nither luke nor anikan are the most powerful jedi ever.
The most powerful jedi every was Garen Marek aka starkiller. he was trained in the ways of the sith but turned to the light side after vader abbandoned him. he wa s so powerful he used the forced to pull a imperial star destroyer out of the sky. he is the main caracter in star wars the force unleashed.

@nusucker he may not have been as trained and actually he pwned vader and almost defeated the emperor but did'nt kill him because it would have been done out of anger. Oh and if he was as strong as a jedi knight how did he defeat Shaak Ti, Rahm Kota, Vader, Maris Brood and another jedi master whos name i forgot. And jedis/siths don't have to us ethe same fighting style as their master. like marek uses the same style as ashoka tano. And that is the truth straight from the star wars encyclopedia.

Hmmm.
I think Luke isn't as awesome as Anakin was. Luke is actually like a Padawan-level jedi. His swordsmanship is no good at all, and his experience in the force is waaaaaaay more shitty than any other jedis. When he defeatet Vader, Vader was an old piece of junk, just a shadow of his former self. And in the last epic battle, he didnt really used of his experience. He was like: Come on Luke! Cut my fuckin arm!

confused in beginning thot. so anakin is luke father and anakin is darth vader... after fighting obi, he was left to die but didnt so he took the title of darth vader and made that costume and breathing mask to survive, so it really does go from 4-6, then 1-3 maching so basically 1-3 is a prequel. thats why in the end when he fulfills his destiny he looks like that with his mask off. cuz of fite wit obi in 3rd.

I suppose that could be considered a matter of opinion, though. Anakin would have been the greatest, and Luke technically is considered the most powerful after Return of the Jedi, but that still doesn't make him the greatest. He's too whiny... haha.

Anakin was truly a great Jedi Knight, and is my fav. StarWars character...I was curious about the father of Luke for years, and it stirred me so deeply when ep.2 and 3 came out...I have a great emotional attachment to the character of Anakin.

I don't believe that. I grew up without my father, and have never stopped hating him. He did horrible things, and he was a horrible person. I know him for what he is, and I've hated him since the age of 11. Not all children foster that love.

Vader had conflicts but he still planned to turn Luke to the dark side so he could overthrow the Emperor. No matter what, you are not wrong because the emotions existed inside Vader. But Luke spared his life and said, "I'm a Jedi, like my father before me." acted as the catalyst. Anakin also credited his son being right about him before he passed away.

I think that Luke was more powerful than his father.
Luke is the only knight Jedi to have resisted to the Emperor without using his lightsaber. Anakin isn't the better Jedi. Luke is more powerful because he chooses the right path.Luke is a fully trained Master, while Anakin was barely a fledgling Jedi Knight when he turned. In my theory I believe it is how one developes communication with the Force, reguardless of the midichlorians, that makes them powerful.

He wasnt more powerful, Anakin turned to the dark side because he believed it could save Padme, and he wanted greater power, he was deceived. Anakin probably did finish his both Jedi and Sith training with Darth Sidious, and in ROTS Anakin was a knight, probably was close to becoming a master, turning back into a Jedi, if he did survive at the end of ROTJ, he wouldve been a master.

in ROTJ Yoda answered Luke when he said to Yoda "Then I am a Jedi" by saying, "Not yet, you must first confront Vader....then and only then will you become a Jedi". That was Luke's trial to become a Jedi Knight...
"Luke destroyed Vader, thusly bringing forth Anakin, who fufilled "The Chosen One" prophecy, and redeeming him to Jedi status and being one with the Force.

Luke is more powerful because the only limb he lost was his hand, meanwhile Anakin was reduced to a torso with a head. I think I heard somewhere he was reduced to 80% of his total power. Luke inheirited his force strength and didn't loose that much of it.

This is true for what I heard too. Since even the dark side needs organic tissues to generate (General Grievous cannot use the Force whether or not he was a Force sensitive since he had nearly no flesh). After his injuries, he could no longer take on the Emperor himself and needed the secret apprentice and later Luke to help him.

Wait. The figure 80% is true but not that Anakin lost 80% his power. I read that after transforming to Vader, Anakin was 80% the power of the Emperor, remaining as one of the most powerful Sith Lords ever. However, his grievous injuries forbided him from what Sidious hoped for. And Sidious obviously dared replace him upon finding Skywalker's son hoping he can reach new heights in the Order of the Sith Lords.

Personally, Palpatine is. Not only because Palpatine can use all dark side powers (while Vader can't use Lightning) and is said to be more powerful (Vader=80% Palp), but also he is a backstabbing strategist who achieved the goals of the Sith, bringing down the ancient Republic and Jedi Order. The result of a fight between the two Sith Lords may be unpredictable but as a Master Sith in every aspect, Palp totally rules.

Palpatine was a Sith lord. Had Obi-Wan not crippled Anakin on Mustafar, Anakin would have become much more powerful than Sidious. Anakin was weakened immensely when he lost on Mustafar; but he was still strong enough to wipe out the rest of the Jedi and help lead a Galactic Empire through force. Imagine how hardcore he would have been, had he beaten Obi-Wan. He would have overthrown Palpatine.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you speaking of the statement Yoda made in The Phantom Menace where he said that there are always two Sith: A master, and an apprentice? Because that Conflicts what Anakin said in The Revenge of the Sith, when he told Windu that Palpatine was a Sith lord. I know that Sith Master is a rank, but he was also a Sith Lord before he took on Anakin, correct? He became a master when he had an apprentice, right?

And about the argument about Luke vs. Anakin, Luke is stronger. Luke became grandmaster of the new Jedi Order, and became the strongest Jedi master ever. When Anakin was at his peak, he was 80% as strong as Sidious. Had Vader beaten Obi-Wan on Mustafar, his power would have eventually become twice as powerful Darth Sidious (This is direct from George Lucas.) Had Vader reached his peak, he would have, indeed, been stronger than Luke. Anakin was the chosen one.

I think Sidious WAS stronger than Vader without the Kyber Crystal, but it heightened his superiority over Vader. If Vader hadn't been crippled, he would have been stronger than Sidious, even with the Kyber Crystal.

I have to disagree with you on 2 facts...#1.Luke did pull his lightsaber on the Emporer in ROTJ..in the throneroom scene?..Vader blocked his near death blow to the Emporer. #2.Luke wasn't a Master Jedi in ROTJ..in fact, He wasn't even a full Knight yet..His trial to become a full Knight was the confrontation with and victory over Vader...remember Yoda telling him that when Luke went to visit Yoda for the last time?."Not yet, first you must confront Vader..then and only then a Jedi will you be."
