Ondol reminds me of my home in youth. The heating came from burning of firewood at the kitchen, where part of heat was used to cook rice and other food. The room gets heated with good heat retention throughout the night, but it can be quite toasty near the kitchen side and less hot away from the area, not evenly dispersed.
