Ibn Abbas narrated: When the verse (42:23) was revealed, the companions asked: "O' the Messenger of Allah! Who are those near kin whose love Allah has made obligatory for us?" Upon that the Prophet (S.A.W.) said: "Ali, Fatimah, and their two sons (Hasan and Hussein)." He (S.A.W.) repeated this sentence thrice (three times).

So if we leave the understanding of master of Qur'an ibn Abbas from the most authentic sunni narration from Sahih Bukhari and go after the fabricated reports then we will end up telling people to love relatives of prophet like Abu Jahl and the rest of the mushriks. Also you did not answer my comment, this aya is makki, so where did Hassan and Hussein came from...it just proves its fabricated.

As for Aya 23 from surat shura, it does not speak about love towards ahlul-bait, as the Aya is directed towards mushriks who used to hurt prophet. So he requested them to show some mercy to him for sake of kinship with them.

Ibn Taimiyya (rh) explaining the verse (42:23) said: Say: I ask you not a recompense for it (i.e the preaching to you) except kindness (to me) for (my) relation (with you) [إلا المودة في القربى ]. And He (swt) did not say Kindness for (my) relatives [إلا المودة للقربى] or kindness to the near relatives [المودة لذوي القربى]

So if we leave the understanding of master of Qur'an ibn Abbas from the most authentic sunni narration from Sahih Bukhari and go after the fabricated reports then we will end up telling people to love relatives of prophet like Abu Jahl and the rest of the mushriks. To this day a lot of Persians have wound because the Arabs defeated them. Of course Persians see Shia Arabs as their lapdogs. The dogs that became drooling for Iraqi Sunni blood and shreded many innocent Sunnis. Iraqi Shias are the most filthy people, it was sad that Ibn Saud did not enslave them and sold them to their Persian masters.
