@KA50Oakes man, u gotta be joking!!! no way you have all this say in ur living room and no questions asked. I mean ur friends or family must be like (!!!!!) u gotta be working for the russians!!!
@macieksoft no, If you notice the long short switch there is 2 of them, besides AP/HE. My educated guess would be that he wanted to show us outside/inside hardpoints, AP/HE, Long/Short Cannon RoF before mapping them.
I've been debating about OpenCockpits kit for some time - that's it, I am sold! Very nice work sir, now I need to get working on SIOC and all that.... Thanks.
No problem, I've written a few scripts to get data to and from DCS so now the ammo-counters, station indicators function properly. See the ED Forum (search for post by Oakes)
This is excellent cockpit builder brother. Where did you source the acrylic? And are the lights driven by the software or the switch? (ie is it possible for the lights to get out of sync if the sim misses the switch click? not a problem of course...just wondering how you have it set up).
Acrylic: I went to a local glazier and bought a couple of scrap pieces.
The LEDs are driven by the SIOC software, independent of the actual switches. I.e. the LED can be on/off directly from software. Unfortunately there is now feedback from DCS:BS to SIOC at this point => LEDs can get out of sync.
but I've got a lot of inputs/outputs left on the OC cards + a bunch of switches etc leftover etc so I can probably build about 4 -5 panels for the total 360 USD.
Hey dude, let's talk about the USB interface device you are using. Did you follow some sort of open source instructions to build the interface? How many switches and axises does it support? When it comes to 3rd party datalink in future, is it possible to customize the firmware and USB driver to establish this data transaction? Thanks.
As the description reads I use the Opencockpit cards, these can be bought assembled or as kits. There are cards for input, output, servos, stepper motors even an LCD I think. The cards communicate to outside applications through the IOCP protocol over TCP, the IOCP protocol is based on events, i.e. if you flip a switch an internal value (connected to that switch) will change and the IOCP server will send a "Value nbr x changed to y" to all clients subscribing to that value.
so can it be linked to the game so you just use the switches and get displays on your hardware elements or ist ist just-for-fun without any real link to the simulator?
Currently the sim can detect the switches but at this point it is not possible to get any data for the displays from the sim. The developers have indicated that this will be possible shortly after the launch of the western version of the sim.
hey the rate switch is also mapped to ammo type for gun?

@commandosolo2009 Just a demo, flip a switch and see if all the LED, Displays work etc......see my other videos for the "real" deal :-)

@KA50Oakes man, you should post a vid of the final cockpit... I'm sure its gonna be biblical XD

@commandosolo2009 maybe you thinking about burst switch, rate switch in lower right side on panel and have writed LOW and HIGH.
maybe this is a testing software before connect to simulator but burst switch who changing gun rounds amount looks like funny.

Dang, your stuff is really top-quality! I've been thinking about starting work on a Black Shark pit, but it would never be as cool as yours.

Nope, datalink :-)
I got a little 800x600 screen that I hope to use for the abris though.

Mate, how much have you invested in this so far? This is awesome work! i'm jealous, but interested at the same time ;)
Konotani 3 years ago
More time than actual money.
OC cards 250 USD
Acrylic 10 USD
Switches etc 100 USD
---------
= 360 USD
but I've got a lot of inputs/outputs left on the OC cards + a bunch of switches etc leftover etc so I can probably build about 4 -5 panels for the total 360 USD.

This is simply ridiculous! In the good way I mean. English text is kind of cheating but I could live with that ;)
I wish I had all the resources for that kind of fun looking project! Keep it up, I'm anxious to see the completely ready project!

You only need:
a soldering iron
a finetooth hacksaw
a file
a drill
a printer
a laminating machine
a couple of sharp knives
some glue
a hole punch

Sorry, they are handmade, approx 10h of work per panel => really expensive if I were to sell them. If I ever get my hands on a CNC router then maybe.
