First off, Rush is a Canadian band, not American. People had such a "big thing" about them because they are a great band; if you don't like them you don't have to criticize them so harshly, just change the video. Personally I don't care for Jack Black but that doesn't give me the grounds to call him shit...

I've seen about 3 or 4 of these Freewill Lyric posts and they must have copied from one another. Check out Power Windows site, reliable. Also the word "can't" in there makes no sense at all. ok great song. this song is not putting down religion nor is it trying to push people towards it. Its more of a honest look at it. You can choose between Phantom fears (going to hell or the like) or kindness that can kill (in the hopes u will be rewarded by going to heaven) thus the really high pitched singing talks then about the "fortune hunt" after we die. So it says forget all that and just live the path destined... and the choices will match where you need or should be. by your own will.
i love rush... amazing musicians and the first band i ever seen live.. and this is the first song i learned on the drums... i miss playing drums i think im going to start again. neil pert was and always will be the best and my fav in my mind.

That doesn't add validity to your definition of "free will" in which you assume that it's "god given," and that the right answer was planted by god into one of the aformentioned prophets or deities.

@JackFucington I don't see a disagreement here. Freewill is just that- You can do whatever you want. I fail to see where I've said it's "God-given." If you so desire and believe you CAN pray to God. If not, you could also do jumping jacks, put on a chicken suit or just go F yourself for all anyone cares. Whatever trips your trigger. The down-trodden often turn to God, that's all. Neil is intelligent enough to pull lyrics from that simple fact. Don't make this more "ominous" than it its.

I am sure you can always find someone if you need to to speak to when these questions come to you for an answer you need. a responsible adult to guide your path and be there for you. Not everyone will be at all times. in the mean time please trust, hold the faith and know you have the free will to make the choices that are good for you and your life. WE are all just people and do the best we can. God our Father gave us the choice of free will, to not be harmed or definately not burn in hell.

Sometimes without instructions we are in danger. Not to burn in hell, that is what he does not want for you and there are so many interpretations to what is and is not evil. I believe there is much for both sides to learn, is a most certain certainty. guide lines to get thru a life that God created to keep you safe because you are loved enough to be handed the guidelines so you are held by his perfect love. Then of course there are many different beliefs. Please be lead by wat is good.

No I dont see it that way. To believe, like it sounds like you may. Follow the rules, consider maybe the traffic lights on the streets. Go when it is green, stop when it is red and if you are able to follow that it should keep you safe. If you run thru a stop street you could hit traffic, it is a chance we take in life. I pray you are lead by the rules that help you thru this walk in life. It is hard to understand, but basically it is a book of love and how a father guides us to wat he created.

ok great song. this song is not putting down religion nor is it trying to push people towards it. Its more of a honest look at it. You can choose between Phantom fears (going to hell or the like) or kindness that can kill (in the hopes u will be rewarded by going to heaven) thus the really high pitched singing talks then about the "fortune hunt" after we die. So it says forget all that and just live the path destined... and the choices will match where you need or should be. by your own will.
