what are you kidding me every freaking garage band in ny played this at every gig or block party they did. it was almost mandatory that you knew this song just like louie louie by the kingsman and gimme gimme good loving by crazy elephant you had to play em
my band director re-wrote this song into our instruments for our rock show for marching band and i didnt know about it until then but now i love it!!!!!
One of my top ten songs of the 60's. I have a copy with more guitar at the start and more no, no, no at the end. I would like to know where that came from. I have the LP and .45 but that version is on neither one.
Yep, the great thing about growing up in the 60's was that there was at least one garage band in the neighborhood. Surf, doowop, rock, roack-a-billy...just 4 guys learning to play together. SO MUCH FUN!!

The post saying that the mono version of this song is better is correct. If you ever buy it, definitely go mono. BTW, I've always wondered if there's an Isley Brothers version out there. After all, they wrote it, but I've never heard of them ever recording or performing it.
I remember a guy called Kev Sugden being the first person in the Barnsley (Yorkshire England) area getting this back in 1970/71, Rest in Peace Kev...you and the sounds will live on.
I have this in stereo from itunes. As good as that sounds, the mono version is preferred. It hits harder. Also, the vocals are not well served by wide separation on the stereo. It never sounded better than right here.
You guys may or may not believe me, but my father was the original singer for this band. His name is Roger Robbs, and he was born in Detroit, Michigan and WAS A MICHIGAN BAND. The myth of this band originating from wherever in Ohio is completely untrue. The rights to the song were sold to them because he and the band were owned by the Lickavolis, a big mafia from the Detroit region.
The Human Beings from Detroit were a totally different band than the Human Beinz from Youngstown, Ohio. This song was an original from the Isley Brothers but the Human Beinz from Youngstown, Ohio made this song famous and are listed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. The track played above is from the Ohio band not the Michigan band!!! I know this because MY FATHER is Ting Markulin from "THE" ORIGINAL HUMAN BEINZ from OHIO!!!
The Human Beings from Michigan were a completely different band than the Human Beinz from Youngstown, Ohio. This song "Nobody But Me" was made famous by the Human Beinz from Youngstown, Ohio. It was written by the Isley Brothers and anyone can record a copy written song as long as the writers are paid. The song played above was recorded by the Human Beinz in Youngstown, Ohio and is listed in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. MY FATHER, Ting Markulin, is from the original band!!!
What memories! In the mid 60's I was living in Boardman. We would go to the Old Barn, I think it was on South Av and also to Idora, or wherever the Beinz we playing. I used to work at the Red Barn on 224 in front of the Boardman Plaza. I remember Dick would come in a lot, driving his green 66 Fairlane GT, and order a chicken dinner. This was our favorite band.
this tune, still rules, nearly (if not already) 40 years old, and its a stoper. I recall my dad has this on 45' I remember hom playing we when were all really young, and us all going mad. brilliant song
wow i didn't know this many people still listened to their song, i mean i know its ont tv and stuff but, yea idk it doesn't seem real to me probably because it was before my time and they're my dads best friends basicaly brothers mostly uncle dick i miss him, and my dad has played in the band after uncle dick left, also with ting in my dads band ROUT 66 [[local band]]

they were a "garage band" true most bands from that era started that way. but they were not a punk band in any sense of the genre.
punk was still a decade away and started in england as a counter culture movement- no talent was required.
