  • @orionchikby thats right it is 952 but you 3 twice so no go

  • Sheldon Cooper

  • Like a boss

    *Moss

  • How the hell

In high school our top of the class couldn't do that even with a calculator

    Loved the vid

  • Excellent amount of intellect!

  • 75/25*3*100+50+6/3=952 30 sec

  • @digitised ah, i got no idea about the rules. So u can't use any of those numbers twice?

  • @lolokar1 - That's correct. SBS in Australia runs a version of the show called Letters And Numbers. If you do a search, you'll find it. Here are the rules for the number game: In the numbers game, one contestant chooses a mix of six numbers and they both try to get as close to the randomly generated target number as they can in 30 seconds using basic principles of maths: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Each number can only be used once.

  • it would take me more than half a minute to put that in my calculator. this is ridiculous!

  • why can't u use simply (6+3)*100 + 50 + (6/3) ?

  • @lolokar1 because you used 3 twice

  • that is one strange kitchen i tell ya..

  • There is an easier way :

    6 times 75 = 450

    450 divided by 50 = 9

    100 plus 3 = 103

    9 times 103 = 927

    927 plus 25 = 952

  • @OMar92150 it works progressively not in two separate calculations and finally adding both..

  • For people wodering how he does this:

He does not actually do each individual calculation, he writes it out but does not actually solve. This allows him to check if it is correct without actually.

    e.g. he would leave 318 as 106*3

  • Gerrald's absolutely rippin!

  • He looks like Sheldon

  • it is fake i think ... James Martin told hem the answer before he came >>>

  • that why women are not good in math

  • i thought to myself, why does this come up under a "like a boss" search, now i know, Like a Boss!! for sure

  • 2:55 oh hi Sheldon

  • I'm more surprised of people being surprised...

I guessed by now people would've been immune to this sort of thing.

  • He is the real Sheldon Cooper.

  • People doing math in their heads on T.V.? As entertainment? If I didn't see it, I would've thought someone was talking about a future utopian society where pursuit of knowledge was most valued.

  • Bithchin!

  • Two things:

TV-entertainment sure has changed over the years and it took a while before I even understood the question.

  • @413x4nd3r2k6 It hasn't. This is still on pretty much every weekday on Channel 4 in the UK.

  • That guy looks like Sheldon lol

  • I want to see the rest of the show now :)

  • Good morning, that's a nice tnetennba...

  • this is the nerdiest game! i love it.

  • HOLY SHIT

  • why is this so funny?

  • Sheldon? :O

  • He blates just winged that.

  • That's Numberwang!

  • 23,800/100 = 238

    238 x 4

    = 952

  • @copperkipper1 where did the 4 come from?

  • @def0rm0 Instead of having to go through the trouble of dividing 23,800 by 25, you simply times 25 by 4 giving 100, then divide 23,800 by 100 (giving 238) then times the 238 by 4 to give 952...

  • @copperkipper1 oh, maybe i am mistaken, but i thought the contestants had to use the numbers that were provided. i didn't see 4 there, hence my confusion.

  • @copperkipper1 But you still haven't answered how you get the four? It's not amongst the numbers selected.

  • @mluiga She's not actually multiplying by 4. In her head, rather than divide by 25, she's dividing by 100, then multiplying by 4. As the result is the same, and it's easier to work out.

  • @Cleftenstein You simply minilpulate the number by multiplying it by 4 to enable you to work out the answer easier and faster.

  • Is Sheldon Cooper that guy?

  • 10 people got 953.

  • I can't believe he did that in 30 secs!

in 30 secs... i could've freaked out and came back with an awkward smile!

  • Sheldon Cooper IRL

  • BITCH NEEDS TO SHUT HER MOUTH AND MULTIPLY BY 75!!!!

  • the woman is so fucking annoying

  • 952 = 900 + 50 + 2, so 900=100*6, 50<6*9=54, and 2=4-2, or rather 52=6*9-2. We multiple two numbers by 9 so (100+6)*9-2=952, we don't have 9 or 2 so must use 25,50, and 75 to transform them. 2=50/25,3=75/25, and 9=3*3. Putting these together we get (3*75-50)/25=9-2. So ((100+6)3*75-50)/25=952. How he would piece that together in a minute is beyond me

  • @robhsimpson 30 seconds*

  • @robhsimpson Actually it was 30 seconds.

  • @robhsimpson A minute? I think he did that in 30 seconds.

  • @robhsimpson Make that half a minute.

  • @robhsimpson under 30 seconds

  • @robhsimpson Have You Read About Islam ?

  • @ownway0 I have, it's rubbish apart from the symmetry in the mosques. PS. all religion is rubbish.

  • @elryan1982 Wow..that's good

next make a research on the (Holy Qur'an) their book...and thanks "elryan"..very helpful .. and this well be my last request youtuber ^^ :P

  • @robhsimpson its 30 seconds isnt it

  • @robhsimpson it was 30 seconds... the guy's a hero regardless.

  • And thats Numberwang!....

  • Im American and I dont know much about English culture, so explain. Why he make little numbers into big number?

  • @GhostmakerX Given those big numbers, he had to find the right operators to make it into the small number.

  • @GhostmakerX Math has nothing to do with culture, it is universal across the world.

  • Like a Moss

  • sweet music

  • he came to kick ass and drink milk...and he just finished his milk.

  • hey its sheldon's dad

  • certified if the hunchback and fighting force in most but not by the full

  • This show in my eyes: Little 4th graders laughing at big numbers. HAHAHAHAH SO FUNNY.

  • Comment removed

  • @MCGRATHRTH indeed squire

  • Yes Sir My Gob is smacked, Wait ONLY 10 POINTS?!?!

  • @thatburneydude Hi, i work as a kitchen? Doesn't make sense dude.

  • That guy = awesome, the woman = annoying.

  • SHELDON!

  • I came here to drink milk and kick ass. And I've just finished my milk.

  • great song

  • well you just need to search for the right order and he got lucky

  • @rickyracing100 I'm sorry, can you calculate that result in your head?

  • @IAbortionsTickleI no, that's why that's not my job.

  • @rickyracing100 Then shut the fuck up.

  • @NOSSOBSEMAJ Oh Ok sorry internet thug. Im so scared, Im gonna go to my corner now. Sorry sir.

  • Reddit likes you today James

  • the hosts must suck at math to be laughing at his answer halfway through and then being dumbfounded that it actually worked...

  • @outsiderzedge they were laughing at the change that he might be right when some one does something unexpected and awesome people are generally laughing

  • Ass whoopin..

  • That guy must get mad pussy.

  • @CognosSquare He definitely got at least one pussy that night...Mrs Vorderman's.

  • @CognosSquare NOOOOOT!!!

  • I bet he got all the girls after that performance!!

    Superstar!!

  • @OPG19872 Girls, right..

  • RL Numberwang!

  • LIKE A BAUSE

  • Sheldon Cooper IRL!!

  • Lol and for that he won about £10 worth of Countdown-branded tat

  • @EpicFishFingers Awwww yeah

  • Well shit, I can't even add up six things in the shopping cart.

  • Can this lady please properly write on the board? I got hit on the fingers if I wrote my math like that...

  • (((100 + 6) * 3 * 75) - 50) / 25 = 952

  • I'd watch TV more if they had stuff like this on.

  • @Q9R42 countdown is on every day

  • @Fredisnice In Sweden?

  • @Q9R42 No in the UK

  • 2:53 - 2:57 creepiest look ever

  • id give that lady a few "digits"..

  • Vorderman must have been moist.

  • Definitely not America.

  • hey, good job! here's ten points!

  • Why are they laughing?

  • is this sheldon

    ?

  • the lady pisses me off

  • math troll

  • How about: 3*3*100 + 3*3*3 + 25 ?

  • @jitty01 You can only use each number once

  • @jitty01 cuz....those weren't the numbers he was allowed to use....

  • @jitty01 And how about 3+3+3+... (repeat, total must be 317 times 3) ...+ (3/3) ? You can only us eeach number once, otherwise it would be pretty easy, lame and boring to watch :p

  • That's Numberwang!

  • daww.. words, and numbers, me no smart.

  • The first rule of math club is you don't talk about math club

  • id give that lady a few "digits"..

  • To me he looks like Edward Norton in Fight Club

  • foppish haters gonna foppishly hate.

  • This is a bar game that I love to play! Is this show still airing? Probably not huh?

  • @ThiaLam

    Still is goin

  • That's numberwang?

  • thumbs if you still watched the countdown clock for 30 seconds, even though we can just skip it on youtube :p

  • in your face carol

  • hahahaah...The real Sheldon Cooper ?? really ??

  • If you can do algebra backwards, then you can see what he did 900 + 54 -2 =952 100*9 + 6*9 -2 (100+6)*9 - 2 (100+6)*3*75/25 - 50/25 ((100+6)*3*75 - 50) /25 As an algorithm it would be: start with 100 add 6 multiply by 3 multiply by 75 [ brings emotional reaction] subtract 50 divide by 25
  • 952 CREW THATS HOW WE DO

  • This is probably the sort of thing you have to do when they say they're "impossible"

  • damn smarty pants!

  • where did he go to school caltech?

  • @TheCarrShow Cambridge. England.

  • Where İs his another operations?

  • Comment removed

  • Carol Vorderman

  • It's an excellent solution, but you can see he didn't actually do all that math in his head (he didn't actually multiply the 318 and the 75).

He mentally did 318*(75/25) = 954. To get 2 less than that, he subtracted 50/25 and voila, 952. The order matters and the foresight is brilliant, but the math is pretty easy to understand.

  • To clarify: (318*75-50)/25 = 318*3-2 = 952. No need to write out 23,850 and such, and I'm sure he didn't since Carol had to figure out that product.

  • @Sully800

    thanks

  • @Sully800 "pretty easy"

  • @Sully800 in your explanation you used 25 twice, which is isn't allowed. Shit, just realised this is a year old...

  • @overseastom He used it twice only to explain his thinking process. To actually do it in math, you only need 25 once, like he did on the show

  • @Sully800 The talent in math is to see those things in all their simplicity, I think.

  • @Sully800 no shit

  • the guy looks just like sheldon from "the big bang theory"

  • agree with that

  • @merrrcan

    Except with some humour

  • @merrrcan Hardly

  • @merrrcan did you ever see sheldon ? because he doesnt look like him at all!

  • This is Episode 1962 (Series 34) broadcasted on 14th March 1997.

  • fantastic! i've been looking for this so thank you for posting :)
