FAIL! The vid didn't show how to load Victoria 4 intne first place!!! Dammit, there IS a real beginning, you know. :-( So- where is it???

Do not buy the Genesis Model, a total joke. It lokks like the models out of Poser 3 plastic and the flexi benefits are impossible to use, also I had a hell of a time trying to install the genesis models the normal path would not work

So far ive found no DAZ 3d vid help on how to get a model into the program, how the hell to actually move around the model to use the key points or how to even get to where ALL these stupid vids seem to go. This program seems good IF!! it was used constantly to learn all the crap in it. I use QVanimator and its SIMPLE, you move the camera around it easy and making poses are simple as can be. Honestly this is a waste of time. Ive used better progams then Daz

What a waste of time. I spent two weeks trying to figure out how to load a model into a scene while receiving the same error message. Multiple attempts with the different suggestions offered here, but still the error message " need to have an item in the scene selected" Everything is loaded correcytly, and is coming up in the tabs as its supposed to. So I am through with this FREEWARE.

There was no model in the Victoria folder, just something that read 'LOD' which was empty, and woudn't load anything. Looks like a potentially fun animation but the trial version needs to be more user-friendly. I'm going to uninstall if i can't find out what's wrong. Hour 2.

I have a question. How do I select other scenes other than the quickstart? What I mean is that other than the Victoria one how do I access other 3D models that I downloaded like for example 'Anime Star Fighter'? And my content folder only contains lights, scripts, shaders and tutorials. How do I get people, clothing, hair, etc?

finally got this piece of shit to work. for anyone else who is frustrated: Look to the left where you will see 2 tabs (Content and Scene). To the right of it you will see a little arrow pointing UP. Keep clicking on it until you see a folder called "content". Click on content then click DAZ People folder. All the figures should be there and they work.

I'm trying Daz Studio (the free version).

I have an NVidia 8800 and it work just fine.

After the registration, I was able to download some models for free and to access all the free funcions of Studio 3.

To import, it's simple: choose the character, double click and voilà ;)

Yes, it's poser-like but it's also free, simple and yes, it works for me!

Guys, I don't understand what is so hard about finding the models lol. If you have a trouble getting them into your scene after you found them, that's an issue. Finding them though? I found them easily, they aren't that hard to find.

First off I had an error that an object must be selected, so I put a plane in the view and selected it.

No more error, but no Victoria loaded either. wat's going wrong?

Ok guys, I figured out how to load the models. I was like you guys who kept getting an error that read "Need item to be selected in scene". To load the model, follow this Directory:

Press Open Folder and then go:

C:\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio3\content\QuickStart\­Poses

I was able to get everything from the Documents folder for morphing and clothing. Then you can go over the tutorial!! Hope this helps guys!!

Hey guys, dont know if you all got your questions answered but I figured out how to load the models (after at least an hour trying to figure it out lol). If you installed what you downloaded , the folder should be visible on the left side of the program. Scroll through the folders and click on the "Content" Folder. Then go to "Figures" Folder. Then Click on DAZ People for the Basic models. Hope this helped.

Make sure you have the 'Load' tab open up top as well, rather than 'Animate' or 'Render'.

Please rename this video! It shows you nothing in getting started in loading models and actually assumes you already know how to load a model, attach hair, set a background, set the pose, add in clothing and skin the model. Probably a good 4 or 5 quick videos that should have been posted before this one.

Can't see how you can be disappointed with a free 3D animation program. I am not 100% sure but I think you can make your own models in the pay version, not sure because I use 3D max when I want to make things, I just use Daz for little things because its easier and faster for that.

This video basically goes over what is in the quick start on Daz Studio but it is not exactly like this when you download the product from the website or Cnet now [2009]. You have to play with it yourself to find the clothes, poses, etc...

The Daz website now has Michael v4 and Victoria v4 for free download but how do I get them into Daz Studio? Too confusing!

You can get models, clothing and scenes from the Daz website. Some are free some you have to pay for. There is an part of the model area that is just for free ones though.

Its been a while since I used it, and I never used it often but I believe once you download it and install it to the default folder you open DAZ and in the "Load" tab you will click on the up arrow at the top right corner of the content box until you get to as far back as it will allow you. You should see the folders listen something like "DAZ built in content" and "Studio3" as well as some others. Pick one called Content and everything you downloaded and installed should be there.
