Absolutely right, it´s perfectly OK to re-enact & copy any artist. Actually, copying is the sincerest form of flattery. I did even say that these new videos are cool. It´s just bugging me that loads of people doesn´t seem to look at the artistic level of work before thinking whether something is original or not. . To differentiate between what is art and what is not art.
MrsRhythmNation, you are absolutely right ! I just saw these by chance, and there is absolutely no way that a guy like Warhol would have composed these shots in the way these are composed.
These clips are certainly cool, but they aren´t made by an artist....just compare to Warhols original works.....
The thing is, which I don't think people seem to realise, lots and lots of people re-enact the Warhol screentests. Lots of normal people on youtube. It's perfectly innocent and not meaning to rip-off Warhol in any way.
You know what really knocks me out about Andy's screen test? How *timeless* these people look. For those of us who think of the '60s in terms of kitsch, that everyone looked like they did in TV shows and ads and other manufactured pop culture, these anonymous people look like...well, people do now. This cat could have been filmed this afternoon.
This seriously is an Andy warhol thing? Wow, I seriously was looking through these videos trying to find ones that looked 'real' I think it was just a bunch of videos copying what he did.
He was actually pretty good

It's not from the 60s - it's mimicking the Warhol screentests. Just enjoy it for what it is!
