Of course no-one's going to expect getting attacked by a dagger, but how about a screwdriver, a knife or a sharp metal stick? And if they don't play along in the beginning, they'll get seriously hurt, which is why they'd play along. And those are called gambesons, padded jackets. And this is definitely not geeky. Geeks do this on the computer.
Screwdriver. Common weapon in impulsive attacks.Common enough that there are stats on it.
Demonstration. Just like any other martial art. A sequence of moves that could be applied to a real attack.
Gambesons, padded jackets usually worn under armour.We wear armour when we fight.Full contact fights, where we find out if the plays work. They do.

For a system thats very specific to the times it was used in, I can still see a lot of modern applications. I am taking notes here.
