when Daphne said "I adore you too" I was as shocked as Niles, and then when they kissed it was one of those that you want them together, but not to be that easy
I absolutely adore this episode XP. The lines are awesome, the dance, the emotion, the heartbreak everything on spot. I loved a thing Niles had said "I'm a dancer, a dancer dances!!!!" So funny!!Niles is so nice and Daphne too.
But can someone explain the meaning behind Niles' saying "Oh mama I've got it all" ? I am not sure about what he tried to say.
"Oh mama, I've got it all!" - He's imitating the stereotype of a poor but passionate Argentinian man who in spite of hunger and sadness will still dance.
This it the greatest Tango ever to be danced in a TV series. The chemistry is awesome and passion is flying through the roof! I so loved this episode, even if Niles was detestated in the end..still an awesome episode, Kelsey Grammer really showed that he could be a great director as well!!
Niles and Daphne forever!!!!The show would be so lost without this plot of them.Frasier FTW!!
This is my favorite episode for Niles. He finally expresses himself and Daphne is a terrific dancer. Something about her red dress that really sets the scene for them both as an 'ideal couple".
the raised eyebrow after the kiss on 2.28 is my favourite...
Probably not the funniest Frasier clip (and it has moments) but certainly my favourite, as is the Moondance episode. Everytime I listen to Van Morrison's Moondance I think of Niles and daphne dancing
It sounds a little like La Cumparsita. That is also a popular choice as it's about the most well known tango song out there (I didn't know the name of that song until tonight. Look it up on youtube and see how it sounds to you)
Actually nevermind. It might be it, I don't know much about Tango, but I was thinking about the ending scene of True Lies because it also involved a tango.
The word gaucho referrers to cowboys in south america. I don't think everyone in Argentina is a gaucho or is poor so no one should get offended or start offending.
I am ad argentian and i never seen someone dance so badly the tango and they applaud at the end, is a total disrespect to my culture. And we are not as poor as they say we are. that makes me very angry.
Oh, honey! They didnt mean any disrespect. And it is a comedy they did the best in that dance they could. They are actors not dancers. She was just trying to make picture a of passionate poore boy to make his blood run faster in veins. If you know what I mean.
They tried to tell that this dance is so passionate and beautiful that money does not matter, but passion!!! They did not try to insult people where this dance came from. Frasier is the most intelligent and clever comedy ever. Sorry, you felt bad watching this episode. It made me want to learn tango. Take care and keep dancing, sweetheart.
I'm actually REALLY glad that the next part of the scene isn't shown. It's too heartbreaking for me. But even so, this is one of my favorite Niles/Daphne scenes of all time. (Even if she was just acting.)
im not sure but i dont think that that is correct ive heard that song and the song it was built off of "Tanguera" by Mariono Mores. I could be wrong but i do not think that they are the same.
I am a fully heterosexual middle aged black male, i grew up listening to gangster rap music and watching Good Times and The Jeffersons but watching Frasier for me now is a must.
Why does everyone think the scene after is heartbreaking?
If you remember what Martin said to Niles earlier about saying things in the heat of the moment you can never take back, you should feel relieved for Niles that he didn't ruin his chances with Daphne. His "I adore you" was a freebie. This was his lesson to watch what he says. Though Daphne's "I adore you too" didn't help Niles much. :)
For curiosity, am I the only straight man other than my father who LOVES this show?
At the beginning, Niles gets a date to this dance, but he doesn't know how to dance, so Daphne teaches him. Later, his date canceled, so Daphne agreed to go with him for fun. At the end of the dance, Daphne thinks that Niles is just acting when he said all those things, in order to make his inner circle think more of him.
Yes he is gay but it doesn't matter because he does a awesome job playing Niles and his chemistry with Jane Leeves (Daphne) is perfect and that's all that matters.
ya, i have a huge vrush on niles too! i think he is gr8! unffortunitly the guy who plays him, David Hyde Piers is gay......but i still like niles! and right now he is on broadway!
No. But Daphne was trying to help him out...she basically was acting, and thought he was doing the same (this is after Niles was having problems in his relationship with Maris, and someone cancelled a date on him, so was trying to 'cover' for him...but she still had no idea he had a crush on her at this point).
does daphne say 'full-bodied dance' or 'full-blooded dance' ?? jane's enunciation is a little foggy

of course jane can dance, she was a member of hills angels, my second favorites just behind hot gossip.
