  • love the phone calls

  • you may say that the ch 15 (not really cable) is a public access in san jose california. it has outrageous shows, but not like what happens in new york. but the shows (usually repeated) have disclaimers at the beginning stating contains content not for some viewers.

  • Debbie sings great its the backing band they are awful she is trying to sing above them but the guy on the violin is trying to drown her out. She should of pulled a gun and shot him dead on live tv. Drugs had a big part of this tv party program thats why everyone is so f****d up on it but Debbie.

  • "what kind of sick perversion is this?"

  • hahaha really funny to see Debbie Harry doing thepogo!

  • 1:00 Peter Gabriel doing Elvis Costello?

  • @Upritebass

    nope but still...

  • LOL!

  • @Upritebass 1:30 Beautiful, operetic, haunting ..... strangely disturbing, annoying like Pee Wee Herman in outer space, and I'm laughing my ass off!

  • @Upritebass Debra, you're beautiful, and very weird. :-D

  • @Upritebass -Klaus Nomi was a hell of a showman. I never really listened to him until a few weeks ago. The facial expressions were part of the performance. There is a video on here of one of his first performances in 1978. He comes on the stage in a very strange costume. His eyes are darting wildly and he seems paralyzed by stage fright. The audience starts to heckle, sensing discomfort, and then he starts to sing and the audience completely turns.

  • @ihasch Me neither, I just heard him on this video for the first time. He DEFINITELY looks like a showman.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the nervousness is part of the stage act, right? He brings them to one extreme, then the other. I sort of understand what he's doing I think. I had a few piano comps that I started very simply, where I tried to make it sound almost asenine. Then I'd open the song up with (in my opinion) beautiful chords and had some people crying in the audience.

  • @ihasch It's odd that he sings female operetic, and those funny facial expressions (LOL!) but he does it so well! I'll keep an eye out for more videos about him. Odd, yes, but I do appreciate creativity. :-)

PS - sorry about previous double posts and comment removals. My puter or connection was fouling up all over the place.

  • You can barely hear Debbie's voice over the screech of the violin. It's a T.V. Party trademark.

  • oh debbie i remember when! This audio is terrible to!

  • I don't think It's Debbie's fault. You try singing in tune when all the instruments are out of tune with each other and theres all that cacophonous noise coming from the house musicians. She just wasn't used to it being like that. Those were the punk days anyways so it was more about performance art.

  • love this show

  • Is there an episode with Fripp?

  • yes, but he is in the audience and answering phones. The documentary shows him in performance but still has not turned up yet...

  • @brajtnerinjo

yep but not released when he plays. he does answer phones and he is in the documentary...

  • @brajtnerinjo not released

the episode has him just answering phones

    more on the documentary

  • Notice the Screamers pin in the background.

  • Dang . Debbie harry can Pogo like a god

  • legendary ...

  • I really want to see the episodes featuring Jean-Michel Basquiat, where can i find these episodes?

  • God I pray Obama changes the FCC laws so we can have local shows like this again. I love this show

  • the only thing obama will do is take money from others and give it to those who can't support themselves.

  • get a job

  • Between the two i've already have I haven't had a day off in three months.

  • well then get an education. you can have my job as an architectural consultant - I am sick of working and dont need the money

  • Amen, uber.

  • @dejahthoris I don't know anything about FCC laws, but at least in CT we still have local channels. There is some really weird stuff that comes on them. And the locals are free to to basically anything within reason. Music programs, religious programs, weird programs, etc. It took me awhile to find them, but they're still there amidst the thousands of cable or Broadband channels.

  • @dejahthoris

you still can in nost states, like NC. Raleigh has a public access channel.

  • @dejahthoris

you still can in most states, like NC. Raleigh has a public access channel.

  • i just want to strangle the violinist :@

  • don't you mean the clarinetist?

  • um no hes playing a violin :P omg does it look like a claranet :P:P:P

  • I'll make it look lik a clarinet......

  • Deborah's voice its terrible-but in a good way! Lots of fun!

  • klaus nomi was hugely beautiful (made me shiver with emotion) i think i've never seen a face with so much perfect features and expressions... more than his 'extraterrestrial outfits', 'alien-like falsetto voice', i think it's the graceful perfection of his face that made him look like he was from another planet...

  • it should have been really strong to be there. I never say that, but, here, yes I say it.

  • debbie is fun to watch. just so cool.

  • I LOVE YOU GLENN and I want to meet you someday very much. keep changing the world. its not too late. you were you tube before there were home computers!!! i was there watching on public access los angeles ch3 or whatnot.

  • i was looking for the dvd documentary but i find just one resource!!! now i hav 2.40% id the complete documentary in one week ¬¬.... i cant find it here in mexico , but i really want it

  • I remember watching the show where Klaus and another chef did a cooking segment on TV Party, and actually showed how to make a pie. What an awesome show TV Party was - up there with the Grube Tube (early phone in show) and Coco Crystal's If I Can't Dance You Can Keep Your Revolution shows on cable. Key shows during my formative years.

  • did you say documentary DVD?!?!?

ohhh, but chopped up? so unfortunate.

  • I dig the clip of Tav Falco, too!

  • There's a TV Party episode on DVD where Nomi's performance is an extra. It's the Halloween episode with Fab Five Freddy, Chris Stein, and Basquiat. The documentary has everything chopped up.

  • This is from the documentary dvd. It's a great musical segment, especially when you play it at 2x speed...

  • In this documentary do you know if the segments are chopped up like this? I would love to see the whole Nomi song, I would get the dvd if it shows the whole Nomi song

  • google keyword: 'cacaphony'

  • Klaus Nomi´s voice is totally celestial, from outer space... simply cool!!! This video is a golden piece from and for the music. I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! Debbie Rules Too!!!

  • I love Klaus!

The FCC made local shows like this impossible. I love this kind of unpolished improv stuff!

  • where on earth did you find this?
