Dumb ass... Ok I'll explain. On the left side of the road you see a huge stripe of ice. Don't drive on that one and slow down a bit. But i guess you got that now..

Nice friend/good riding partner to pick up your bike for you & check to see that you were OK with out you having to ask for help or a single comment from him about how he had your back. I'm serious, dude seemed like a decent guy. It's a good thing to have friends like that to ride with. By the time you stood up & turned around, he had your bike back up on it's side stand. Probably saved your bike from fluid loss as well as you from further injury by straining yourself after the spill.

I did something similar along a rocky road. I clipped a large rock and bounced about 15-20 yards down the road. My mates were beside themselves. They couldn't stop laughing.

@mrbassman25 well alot more can go wrong but bikes do have alot of benifits over cars too such as being more agile , you can filter , more economic , faster :) , and cheaper insurance , mot and tax and usually the bike itself is much cheaper than a car. you can buy a 1000cc bike for less than £10,000 new (and that was a bloody good bike)

I Think that was a close escape there and for that reason "Im Out" of the idea of getting two wheels rather than stainying with the 4 wheeled coffins that bikers call cars. but car owners such as myself call bikes "Death Traps" and there was a classic example of a hidden "Trap" i feel your pain man. oh well dust yourself off and count that as another lucky eascape and think about the people that would miss you if the worst happend :End. take care now. unless you have a death wish.. nearly there

Ok did you crash on purpose? I ride early mornings on my GSXR 750 sometimes in -10, i keep updates on the weather etc and know what the danger is.

You must know that when you are riding their its icy, then you go in to a ice trail? no way this has to be purposeful and be a cheap bike.

I had something similar happen to me on the interstate a few months back. a few days after it snowed but still cold and i thought the streets were all clear. was doing about 75 and following a bit to close to see a pothole with water in it and splashed around. the guy behind me stopped to help said i bounced high as his pick up but all i got out of it was a scrape on the knee broken footpeg and a bunch of scratches.

In winter conditions it's good to keep bot feet on the ground while riding the bike, like using feet/ boots as sliders. Gives more traction.

Sven, you are insane. I was out on my bike yesterday at midnight and there was a LOT of black ice around but I could SEE it. You could see that ice coming up too and should have ridden to the middle of the road to avoid it. Still, 5 stars for pain and for sympathy.

Saying that, I still can't believe that I haven't come off of my CG yet with all this ice around except at about 3 MPH in the snow last month (jan 2010).

Move to Perth, Australia and u wont have ice in winter. God the coldest it gets here in winter is like 14 degrees Celsius. Unless u go to the eastern side of Australia then in some places it snows and gets pretty cold.
