@shendpage Happened to see your question, "What do you think about Vox Amp???". I'm a player and have checked out the Vox AC-30 and other smaller Voxes. Personally, they just aren't appealing. I get the feeling that they are still popular only because Clapton used Vox in the early part of his career and, of course, The Beatles used Vox in the early days. However, it's all a question of taste. I like Fenders for their sound but I also like their fifties look. They're just cool.
Nicely done, you have some skills. Do I detect some SRV? Sounds great, but a little uninspired. You should try to let yourself go more. Use more notes outside the scale and try some more avantgarde rythm choises. Just a tip.

Amp was cranked here, no problem getting a good tone the main problem is it is built in a sweatbox in China by an underpaid 9 year old girl and the main components fell out of a Fisher Price radio from the 70's.
Broke three times in first 3 months, complete and utter piece of shit.
My amp repair guy laughed when he took it apart. Manufacturing in this day and age has gone to shit, everything is disposable even your TV. I now use a 1967 Fender Pro Reverb. In a word a TANK.
I have read many poor reveiws of the AC30 too, but when I hear one I think it sounds amazing, very articulate and diffinetly unique. Many famous guitar players use them and have great tone, so why do people think their crap?
i agree with chooseyourblues i have personnally owned almost every older model amp under the sun i now own a cheap but still good fender frontman 212r 100 watt and its fine but a fender deville or fender deluxe
the ac30 has amazing clean sounds. and at 30 watts there is quite a bit of headroom. of course nothing compared to 100 watts but still, there's a decent amount of headroom.
Bairds, York Road. I would advise you to look for an original though (try Ebay) as the new CC2's are built in China and mine failed twice in 3 months so I got shot of it. Sounded nice but built like a piece of shit Kia.
They're very hit and miss or so i'm told. If i get one i'd get a new output transformer, valve compliment and reverb tank installed.
My other option is the Fender Blues Deluxe Tweed which are made in mexico which (and i'm assuming based on the guitars) means decent components and a lesser wood for the cab.
Ha! Your so right! The output transformer was what blew mine the first time. The reverb is useless, I had to buy a reverb pedal (£100)so by the time you do all this you have spent big bucks. I believe there is nothing to touch a fender amp and a nice strat. I have just got a 65 Twin re and I am keeping it forever. If you can't stretch to the £900 get a Deluxe Revern or try one of the new Princeton Reverbs, seemingly they are awesome. It's fender all the way for me now, I have had tons of amps.
I'm finally in a position to buy a decent amp (as i've a bit of money saved) and i had an old Marshall MG250DFX which has recenyly died and i hated the tone from day one (but at £150 3 years ago, the price was right).
My problem is that fender heads are hard to come by for the £450 odd price range and i've back problems so a combo might be too much hassle.
Look at a smaller Fender amp then. Clapton still records with a vintage Champ. The blues Jr is remarkable for a 12" 15 watt amp, and very portable. Remember 15 watts for a tube amp is like 60 for a solid. Amps are rated at 'clean' levals so Fender amps will always be louder as no one does clean better than Fender. Add a Tube Screamer or a Blues Driver and you've got your Rory / SRV / Clapton tone.
Rat 2 is just the newer version. As long as you buy something that was made in USA from a few years ago and not the new china model as they changed some stuff inside and it lost some tone imo.
Hi man. I liked both of these amps very much. The VOX is more 'British' sounding, ie. With the EL84's there is less clean headroom and it begins to naturaly distort about halfway (not as much as a EL34 Marshall though) so if you enjoy British Blues/ Rock in the style of Rory Gallagher, Peter Green, Bluesbreaker era Clapton etc this is an excellent choice.
The Twin is the greatest 'Clean' amp in the world, period. So if you are into clean blues, B.B. King,Larry Carlton, Ford etc, The Twin it is.
Hi..I'm also a blues player and rock too...Do you like your twin or vox better...does the vox take pedals well..It seems more versitile than the twin...thanks
Thank you very much Nigelson. I am using the A blues scale mostly (A C D Eb E G), however as I like a lot of BB King and Robben Ford (who tend to use major scales in Dominant progressions) I tend to throw in the relevant major Pentatonic scale,( A B C# E F#) especially on the V chord in your blues pattern. This keeps things interesting and highlights the chord changes.
Probably one of the few YouTube videos where watching a guy play his guitar along some background music worths the time. Thanks! I've learned a new blues lick...
Hi man, thanks for your good comments. I go into a ProCo RAT (if you havn't got one of these get one now!!) then into the VOX AC30. I hate the reverb on the AC30 so it is switched off in this recording. I have ordered a new reverb so I will up load some sounds with that when it comes!!!
You've done it again my friend - just awesome. I love the sound of your new Vox. I also have a Fender Guitar; mines a "Fat Strat" and I love it! I'm shopping for a new Amp too and I'll have to check out the Vox. Keep up the good work and happy jamming.
Playing was a bit too staccato at places, but your playing was very clean and tight. Well done.
