  • Man...I'm 20 and have listened to many songs. THIS for some reason touched me. Well done Tim !!

  • I am 3'1" and 1 years old....:-)

  • I've never cried to this song.

But each time I hear it, I get one step closer. Soon I'll cry oh so much that I won't have any tears because I listen to it too much.

  • @BladeSatoshiX aha.. i know what you mean.. i've been feeling like this with this song..and finally it got to me.. in his live show, with the orchestra.. could not stop crying..and felt so silly .. but guess the time had to come.. xD

  • "There's an ending" lol :)

He's incredibly good at merging and missing bits out!

Completely ADORE this song, i get shivers down my spine and tears in my eyes everytime i hear it :) i would completely break down if i heard it live!

  • beautiful

  • <3 I love this song

  • This made me cry when I saw him live... And I told him afterwards, he said it was one of the very first songs he wrote for his new tour :)

  • love this song ..........but if it is a lullabey how can his 2 year old daughter understand some of the words???

    great song......love tim!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lullabies are usually for new born babies, of course they don't understand the words!!

  • lol im pretty sure toddlers don't comprehend most lullabies

  • It obviously doesn't bother Tim, but if someone was starin' at me like that whilst I was playing I wouldn't be able to concentrate and would fuck up.

  • I saw this recently when he finished his show with it In Belfast, N.Ireland. A breathtaking performance of a very poignant song, simply brilliant.

  • He'a fantastic... and this song shows he can do serious as well as funny...

  • Not Perfect shows he can do serious. in fact, probably more than this one. This song's gorgeous, but he's still not been able to top Not Perfect

  • I think drowned is pretty much his only purely serious one :)

  • Not perfect and this are serious too. You can tell because he puts so much feeling in when he plays those songs...

I was bawwing like a little bitch when I saw him playing this, was like 10 feet from him... He's a fucking legend!

  • (L)

  • Im NOT crying.

Some water just comes out of my eyes whenever I hear a song as amazing as this one.

  • I'm 6'2, 21 years old and this fucker made me cry with this song. XD

  • don't feel ashamed. i'm 6'3, 23, and it kinda had same effect on me first time i heard it.

  • @HittokiriBatosai well done for being tall

  • @majorporkchop1 While I accept your congratulations, I fear I must admit I did absolutely nothing to earn that achievement.

  • @HittokiriBatosai don't worry ! I'm 35 and I cry when I hear it...!

  • @HittokiriBatosai What does your height have to do with anything?

  • @HittokiriBatosai you big baby. x3

  • hehe I think it's cute that despite his full on atheism, he still consciously gives little props to things born out of institutionalised religion... like hymns ...and Christmas. He can actually say that he believes that 'no such thing as plain right or wrong' despite his passion and drive. It can be easy, on any issue, to fixate oneself on one particular viewpoint and still, quite hypocritically, say they believe that fixed ethics and morals are simplistic.

  • Atheism is not a fixed viewpoint on ethics or morals. And christmas has really just about nothing at all to do with christianity if we're talking about the historical origins.

  • It's wordy explanations like this that ruin youtube and cause arguments, talk about the video you dirtbag ¬_¬

  • I didn't start any argument, I just answered. Besides, if you think it ruins youtube just don't read the comments!

  • There are no such things as "Good" or "Evil" by which we can gauge the morality of something.

It's very different to say that something is a good or bad thing, moral or immoral.

I can see how you, the same way as most people who struggle with logic, can't find the distinction.

  • Sorry, I suppose my comment is logically flawed and I should really wipe my last sentence. You're right, I don't think 'ethics' or 'morals' are the terms for what I was trying to express. My only sentiment is that this song to me reveals a man of logic, sense and humour without harbouring hatred and scorn - which has become a rather regrettable hallmark of representatives of religious institutions.

  • This was actually a really fine song. Minchin is such a talented person, and great for us atheists :)

  • Ok, I'm not Australian and as such I only understand Tim when he's singing. But does that guy says something about a documentary at about 6 seconds in? Do I hear that right, and where can I watch it? Also if I totally misunderstood, then please blame it on his pronounciation, not the dumb little belgian that is me.

  • Hey, I just saw that red speechbubble coming out of the interviewer's mouth. That was not there before was it? I guess I really am that stupid... Anyway, off to do some online DVD shopping ^^

  • the song is brilliant i cant stop cryin at the end its so sweet!!

  • Yeah, Tim will do that to ya. Awesome guy!:)

  • @MaladjustedBoy I know.

  • "...in the sun. Waiting... okay, there will be an ending."

  • there Is an ending =]

  • the host looks at tim like he's his gf or sumthing

    slightly creepy lol

  • I was at one of his gigs when he first ever performed this songgg.

I cried! It was so sweet.

  • For ages i forgot he was australian i was like.... what? Christmas? Sun? LOL I love this song!

  • I love that smile when he finishes, you could tell he was thinking of Vi...

  • I saw Tim perform this in it's entirety in 2007 days before Christmas. He was about to go home to Perth for Christmas, I hadn't been home to Perth for 3 years. I was so homesick and it brought me to tears then. It still makes me teary whenever I hear it. Pure genius

  • Way to make me get all teary...

  • <3 <3

  • i made my dad watch this interview when it aired in the lead up to christmas. at the time my older sister and her husband were overseas and had not been home for two years. when he heard this my dad started crying, its the same reaction i had the first time i heard it - it felt like it could have been written about my sister and the rest of us waiting for christmas when she would be home

  • awwh thats well sweet, hope that christmas was good for you =]

  • it was! my sister and brother-in-law surprised us by showing up at our house one afternoon a week before christmas:)
