-E6410 offers 1440x900 on the screen. E4310 is stuck on 1366x768.
-Keyboard layout (E6410 has 7-row, E4310 is 6-row)
-E6410's CD drive is removable. You press on the black button on the right side and it pops out. E4310's Cd drive doesn't. The only advantage is that you can replace the CD drive with a second hard disk.
Is there any possibility to put in a 9-cell battery from E6410 to E4310? I know that the one is not dedicated to the E4310 model but I'm wondering if the battery slot is preety the same? Will it be not very well-fitting but working or there's no chance for swap lite this? Thanks!
do you recommend using XP or 7 on the E6410? thanks for the video! it helped me choose the e6410 over the e4310 (well... also i scored it for $580 haha)
So what about comparison of the battery runtime? I got my E6410 stolen and so I'm now in the market for a new one and would like something lighter and smaller for everyday carry. I still depend on long battery runtime though.
The 9 cell on the 6410 always gave me about 5h. How long does it run on the 6 cell? And how long does the E4310 run on the 6 cell battery?
13 ounces is a lot of weight lol. Toss a can of coke on the laptop as you're holding it. I really appreciate the comparison, though. Was helpful in my decision process. I considered the HP Envy (as mentioned below), but but the construction quality and keyboard were surprisingly cheap feeling, not to mention HP's worst-in-industry reliability record. Most overrated notebook out there.
I have a E4310 and have lost the password for my BIOS, I can't change my BOOT sequence to reinstall windows 7 which has been corrupted! can anyone help me? I have the SERVICE and EXPRESS CODE tag but what do I do with it, I am in the UK
@JeffChen7x8 I haven't really tested myself since I primarily use a 6cell. I've hear that the 9cell will last you about 5-6hrs if you lower the LCD brightness and don't do too intensive of tasks (just web-browsing or typing in Word, etc.).
great video. do you know how much the computer weight with the 6 cell battery?
i bought the e6410 in the exact same specification as your with the 9 cell but im thinking of buying extra 6 cell because with the 9 cell it weight too much and i would like to know what the weight in real world of the computer with the 6 cell.
I notice you reviewed the envy 14, I am thinking of purchasing the envy 14 or dell e6410 ... pro's for me are the warranty on the dell in canada is 3 yrs, and cons is lower video card. could you comment on the diffence in the two screens between the dell and hp laptops. Ive owned 3 dells in the past and have had issues with the xps1330 due to bad video card. What is your opinion on the two, my main use will be downloading, unraring files, maybe some video editing. thanks.
@smartcard1234 Yes I have both :). To be honest the screen quality (color gamut, contrast, etc.) is much better on the HP Envy 14 than the Dell Latitude E6410, no comparison really. But yea the 3yr warranty on the Dell is super nice. And also parts for the Dell Latitude E-series is super cheap on eBay and the like. For example, backlit keyboards for the E6400/E6410 (they are interchangeable in most parts) only costs like $20.). Also, accessories are cheap, like an E-Port docking station
@smartcard1234 costs only like $50 or less (convenient to have a docking station). So up to you if you care more about the screen quality (HP) or 3yr warranty + cheap maintenance and accessories (Del). Both are very well built. Also note the Dell E6410 is 16:10 ratio widescreen aptop with max res of 1440x900 whereas the HP Envy 14 is ultra-widescreen 16:9 ratio at max res of 1600x900. Good luck with your search.
So as you can see, they are about as close, spec-wise, as you can get so the weight comparisons should be fairly accurate in terms of what you get for the weight difference.
Heh I just noticed in my video the screen quality (color depth and contrast) actually seems a bit better on the E4310 on the E6410. May be just my 2 particular units though.
wait how much hard drive capacity ?

You forgot the following differences:

Very good review. I gotta ask tho, I've heard that the e6410 tends to freeze when coming up from sleep ? (planning to buy it in some months).

This was a very helpful review, thank you! My IT dept gave me these exact two computers to choose from, so it was the perfect subject matter for me!

size and battery life do count as part of the portability too
dedicated graphics eat battery like heck
these 2 models are designed for completely different purposes
of course the larger ones you buy the better performance you'd usually get under the same price range, and yet you lose portability at the same time
just as how you can't blame vaio TT for not being able to handle heavier tasks

Does your E4310 have the backlit keyboard? Can't tell from the video.

can you tell the specs of this machines !? tks.
albinoeduardo 1 year ago
@albinoeduardo The E4310 is: Core i5-520m, 4GB DDR3 (2dimm), 500GB, 7200RPM HDD, bluetooth, 6200 wifi, webcam, backlit keybard, Intel HD Graphics..
The E6410 is: Core i5-540m, 4GB DDR3 (2dimm), 500GB, 7200RPM HDD, bluetooth, 6200 wifi, webcam, backlit keyboard, nVidia Quadro NVS 3100m graphics.
So as you can see, they are about as close, spec-wise, as you can get so the weight comparisons should be fairly accurate in terms of what you get for the weight difference.

Tell me on the E4310 the battery is 6cell or 03 cell ?, I buy one E4310, and i choose a 06 cell, but i dont want batery left in the back.
albinoeduardo 1 year ago
@albinoeduardo The battery you see in the video is a 6cell, so if you got a 6cell it will stick out the back like mine :(
