@johnthomas1230 I think full set bonus itself is not worth it if you are focused on spell DPS. If you are to tank or subtank something, it might be worth it as +3 con is a huge benefit for tanks. If you build your toon toward spell DPS, the set bonus does almost nothing (besides +3 con). Bonus of evocation is not to the DC, but to the Caster Level. And, main damage spells you will use (BB, Punish, etc) will cap at lvl 20, so evocation bonus will do nothing.
@johnthomas1230 Conjuration DC could be good for Cometfall, but anyway I don't use that spell so often. After all, I would choose Rahkir set over full Epic Abishai set. (with something with Greater Arcane Lore, and combine it with Rahkir to get Major Arcane Lore)
3 pieces (or less) of Epic Abishai set could be still good to wear, because they have uber stats like +7 con or Green Slot.
Personally I feel 40 wisdom is just enough for DC. Because our main DPS source is Divine Punishment anyway, which has no save (and no Spell Pen check). My FvS has 2 spell pen feats, making her able to land Implosion and Destruction on mobs with Spell Resistance. But, don't think you can reliably land Destruction on Epic difficulty. You will need more DC to reliably do it. You can still have fun with Implosion, because it makes several tries to kill mobs, making the spell more likely to land.
Also, for past lives would it help much more with a wizard past life for the spell pen and +1 to dc, and the sorcerer for +1 to evocation? Or is the dc for having a 40 wisdom good enough on it's own.
You can use BB with no problem, because BB is reflex based and generally mobs have low reflex saves.
However, any bit of DC and Spell Pen will surely help. So after all it's up to you. If you have enough time to spare, go get 3x Wiz + 3x Sorc pastlife! ;) FvS is not the main instakiller nor main cloud controller anyway, so reliable BB and Implosion (and other spells like Cometfall) with DC from 40 wisdom only (with Heighten, of course) will be enough to play Epics.
I have a question about your setup of potency and Arcane Lore : I was thinking of doing the Blue dragon armor and the Torin's Choker but than i took into account the Epic Robe of Dissonance with the Noxious Embers, Which do you prefer? ( since i only need 6 scales to complete blue that is what i am thinking but i would like your opinion for what is better) Also a few points of gear could be helpful for me since i am new to fvs and the myddo on your name is not working)
@johnthomas1230 Personally, I prefer Epic Robe of Dissonance and Noxious setup. I used to use Blue Dragon and ToD Warchanter set (necklace and ring, for S Pot 6 + reduced Maximize cost). The reason of my preference is blue slot on the epic robe, and I don't like swapping of equipments. I wanted to use charges on Noxious, so it was best to always wear it.
@johnthomas1230 By the way, I added my MyDDO page in the movie information. Please note that Boots is a random generated loot, so you can put something more useful here. (like Epic Boots of something)
my favored soul is lv16 for some reason i cant seem to heal as much per cast as much as other favored souls im using potency 6 27 chr and 27 wisdom as well
@xtreme0ride potency really isn't that great for healing, especially if your using plain potency(aka the 20% increase). If you want to amp your healing get a superior ardor clicky, Amara's belt is a good one that's ML 18 that i always grind out. That'll put out a 75% increase to your healing, and as items stack with enhancements this can really jack up your healing.
Was very fun to watch, I'd like to do something like that too, but not only ToD and 'all fvs', but maybe Shroud, VoD, Abbot, Chrono, VoN 'all wiz', 'all sorc', 'all clr'
Every time I watch your vids I wanna wish you to use more shortcutkeys, too much clicking around with the mouse y'know ;)
To talk about shortcut keys, I mainly use keys around movement keys only, because other keys are too difficult to press quickly and precisely, so I think using shortcut keys for bunch of clickies/rarely-used stuffs/swappables is not needed or that will end up in causing mistakes. I use many clickies, but if they are used only once or twice in a quest, I will rather mouse-click them. My shortcut keys are mainly for spells that must be quickly cast or frequently used.
@AdriaTheRed And I have almost every spell, clicky or switchable gear on a shortcut.
Using ESDF is nice, but for me it would make uncomfortable to reach for Tab, Shift, Ctrl, Alt and Cmd (i have Mac keyboard, so instead of Ctr-Win-Alt I have Ctr-Alt-Cmd).
Also I have a 5-button mouse with one key (under my thumb) assigned as another modifier like Ctr-Win-Alt, so it can be used in a combination with any other button which is *very* convenient!
@AHDPA I feel using Tab or Shift, Ctrl is not difficult at all on my keyboard, which is Japanese layout. Alt is very difficult to use actively with my keyboard layout even if I use WASD for movement. I could modify my registry to change the layout a bit though.
I think using T, H, B when you use WASD for movement is a bit troublesome to use quickly and precisely.
I have no tenkey, because it is simply uncomfortable to use with games like FPS because it separates mouse and character keys too far.
@AHDPA My mouse has 8 buttons, but I assign them mainly for voice chat and targeting. Using mouse button or Alt as modifier is very good idea. After all raw number of keys to use is not different very much between you and me (except for those around tenkey or Enter), but the difference is the use of modifier keys. Thank you for letting me think about it. :)
@AHDPA I like to pilot all of my toons in the same or similar way, and my main toon is a sorc, so some shortcuts are used just for compatibility. For example, I assign "W" for Hypno, and for compatibility "W" of this FvS is reserved for G Command. (another example is "Q" for Web and Comet, both reflex save) This could waste a few shortcut spots.
@AHDPA By the way I use ESDF for movement, and WQRTAXCVG + Ctrl or Shift for spells, and number keys for page selection. With this configuration I can use shortcuts without disrupting my movement. With mouse click, I can do the work without stopping or moving my sight away from the screen (to look at the keyboard).
I think using shortcut keys for rarely-used clickies can be more comfortable, but can also be more vulnerable to mistakes or sudden situation change.
@AHDPA I feel a bit sorry for these really long wall o texts. But one more thing, oh, you play the piano! This fact could tell me how dexterous of you and why I cannot use so many shortcut keys. Piano or guitar are really cool feats!
@AdriaTheRed I have 5 toons - sorc, fvs, monk, bard and barb. So at first it may seem hard to have only one set of shortcuts for all toons, even though they could make them separate for different toons. To overcome this inconvenience I have many things on same keys for all toons, for example: haste (or pots), heal (or pots), resists (or pots), trip, stun, sneak, FF/main_item, GH (scrolls or clicky); some types of weapons like portal beaters, vorpals, stunners and so on.
@AdriaTheRed So I use q, e, r, t, f, g, h, z, x, c, v, b, tab, ~, 1-0, num1-num0, home/end, pgup/pgdn, del, *, /, =, +, -, F1-F12 - that's off the top of my head :)
...and you can multiply these keys by 5 - Ctrl, Alt, Cmd, Mouse, Shift; of course I don't use them all, only combinations, that don't twist my fingers :)
GG :D
