@jamiehorsey The Jews that took Gaza were the crazies who were more interested in ideals than practicality. The Israeli government had no desire to take Gaza, because it was of no economic/strategic benefit, and the Jews don't even have a biblical claim to it.
However much I like this movie, I have to admit that there are some real bonehead scenes in it. Kirk Douglas' Mickey Marcusesque character is not likely to have asked what they are singing when he here "Next Year in Jerusalem." How much of a seculariized assimilated Jew is he supposed to have been to ask such a question? I need to remember his dramatic role in this movie though. He is supposed to intrepret Israel for an American audience.
The Jews hardly had to show up in what the Romans called "Palestine" after the Holocaust b/c they'd already been their for 3,000yrs. The Romans only invented the name Palestine after committing their own mini Holocaust about 40yrs after Jesus. It was over 700yrs later when the Arabs finally showed up on the scene. The Jews watched them coming as they had the Romans, & the Greeks before them. The Arabs only adopted the name "Palestinian" 50yrs ago. Racist swine.

so the jews got Israel, then took over Gaza where the Arab refugees escaped to.
They may have suffered in the holocaust but that doesn't meant that all jews as innocent

It's a song we sing on Yom Kippur. According to you that's impossible though because everyone who sang it died in the Holocaust.
