@rmromanko Glad this video is useful for you. I actually have a lot of videos that could be useful for earning Merit Badges. My Kearny Fallout meter and radiation monitoring videos could be used as a basis for a "science merit badge". Other videos : Survival rules of three video, making a survival fishing kit video, Biosand water filter video, CB radio DIY antenna video...
Excellent video! You did a good job of showing the action from the multiple points of view (including the user's) and ranges. Seeing the sun flash on the stop sign through the "vee" really drove home how narrow the sunbeam is, hence how important careful aiming is. Have you tried the method where you line up the target, your fingertip, the lower left mirror corner, and your eye?
Hi Rafowell. Thank you for the positive feedback! I've not tried the technique that you describe. I'll try that later today.
The interesting thing about seeing the light hit the stop sign is that the stop sign reflects light really well were as very few other things in the world do to that extreme. Some people don't understand that in a rescue situation they won't be getting any feedback from the target about how on target their signal is. That's why rescue planes rock their wings.
I tried your two finger tip method with the mirror above the eyeball today. I got good strong pulses from a smallish road sign about 100 yds away. It took a while to get on target though. This survival skill really is something that everyone needs to practice so that we get familiar with how much mirror manipulation we need to consistently get good pulses of light.
Thanks a lot, very well done!
I watched a military training film before, but: You show, how to do it WITHOUT a special signal mirror.
Thanks.

@wasistdaswasdasist Thank you. I like to show people how to get things done with a minimal amount of specialized equipment.
