lol. You screwed up your 701 by taking linux off and putting windows on it. And now your putting vista on your computer... :p When do people ever learn?
im was wondering about the ASUS Eee PC 1000H 10-Inch Netbook (1.6 GHz Intel Atom Processor, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, XP Home, 6 Cell Battery) Fine Ebony
and if i had to buy any thing to use the internet or could i just use the internet as soon as i get it
u could if u could get the signal problems my charger gets very very hot wen im useing it my wireless broke never new how to use the bluetooth but it broke sum how
Yes....yes it is. When I made this video the Win7 trial was not available, however I installed it as soon as it was. It runs leaps and bounds better than Vista on this netbook, acutally prob on any netbook.
lucky...i want a netbook but cant see spending the money for a computer that just surfs the web pretty much. But 2 gigs would probably be worth it. It will allow you to multitask some more as per price it shouldn't be too expensive sorry i don't know the speed of the ram needed for it so =/
i got a 2gb crucial soddim ram for like $20 on ebay, and my 1000ha runs great. I got mine for only like 320 during christmas time because i got 25% cashback on ebay :P.
anyways, i suggest get 1000he and buy the 2gb ram upgrade.
Thanks for posting this, I found it very helpful. I went with the 1000he which runs everything i need flawlessly including video games and some other heavy software. The thing I like most is how quiet mine is, I can be playing games all night while having other apps open and this thing is quiet as a mouse. I recommend this netbook to anyone. My only question: Why would you want to install Vista when it comes with XP?? XP is sooo much better and eats less resources too!
same here . people bitching toooo much . move on already .
but , i respectively disagree that 98 is better . it doesnt bring out the best of SSD and DDR2 ram . plus , it's a pain in the ass when you're trying to go to the internet . just plain painful .
People bitched about the new OSes because when something is a tad bit unfamiliar, they bitch and moan. If the new OS was EXACTLY like the OS they were using, they will still bitch and moan about how it lacks "variety" and is "backwards".
So basically, no matter how good the new OS is, people will still find something to bitch and moan about. Its like going to a new school. Bitch and moan because they are too stupid to get used to it.
But Vista does eat up your ram like hell though. XD
I am probably the only person on this big blue sphere that actually likes Vista (alot). and before you say "oh ur stupid u know shit its slower", so what if it is ? My computer can handly it pretty well and i would trash it before installing xp on it anytime. It's just BORING and UGLY. Even if i have to loose 2fps on WoW.. which i don't play :)
Hey there, I own both the eeepc 701 & 1000h, both great laptops, personally prefer the 1000h for it not crashing as much but the 701 has more portability. Also like the larger keys and touchpad, plus 10 inch screen.
Depends on what you are doing with it, if just browsing the net and some word processing, than sure. If you plan on playing games and doing image/video processing, no way.
Have owned 1000ha for about a week. VERY unstable. Multiple restarts required. Touchpad loses functionality in firefox. Keys easily repeat strokes. The LCD has several stuck/broken pixels. AFTER 1 WEEK! Minimally functional as a computer. Finish a fingerprint magnet. A toy at best, not reliable or functional enough for serious business/school use. It's not all bad, but for MSRP of $400, you certainly expect better. My 9 year old homebuild is more reliable than this!
Because XP is horribly dated. Most who have issues with Vista are those who do not have the correct hardware to run it. Never had a single BSOD with Vista. XP was much worse out the door.
dude!!! you need 2 gigs of ram for vista just to run it probably why do you think there scraping it. windows seven is coming out soon im using windows 7 beta 7000 right now. its not even finished and it works with way less memory and looks better you can run it with just 500 mbs of ram, not as good as xp so far but better then vista.
Any serious computer user would have more than 2GBs of ram. Most newer machines come with 4GB and Vista runs beautifully on them. Ram is so cheap why would you not load up on it?
My older Athlon rig only has 2GBs and I have no issues with Vista, so not sure what programs you are running but they must be real memory intensive, which brings me back to the orginal quesiton, why would you only run 2GBs?
I have 12GB in my new rig and its running Vista x64. System flies, however I have Win7 on a few other machines and can't wait for it. I agree that it is what Vista should have been. However saying that Vista still is a great OS and is better than XP was during this point in its lifespan.
but why have more when you only need less, im also a fan of linux and mac osx and one of the nicest things about them is there nice and light to run.
With that logic why bother upgrading anything? Why not keep your old floppy drive or stick with single core chips. Because tech changes and software changes to take advantage of it. Tons of apps will benefit from having over 2GBs of ram. Unless you are building some low end internet box for grandma, sure 2GBs is fine, but for anything more it limits you.
im just saying vista sucks and its not just me a lot of people dont like it thay sold more copys of xp when vista was out, thay even started making computers with no drivers for xp so more people would stick to vista... and not go back to xp. but it didint really work because people started buying mac's and using linux!!
I have 2gbs of 2000mhz ddr3 ram which cost around $200, not saying anything about your little argument, but it's not always the amount of ram that matters..
But I do agree with you, xp is far too dated and vista has run everything I threw at it with 2gbs of ram (and I run alot of stuff). So to dave0075, no, you don't need 2gigs of ram to run it properly, don't be a pundit.
Don't be too sure about that, the 1000h has beefier hardware. I have since installed Vista and it actually booted quicker and battery life was a little better.
would this, or any other netbook for example, be able to run microsoft word, itunes and the internet at the same time? or would it be extremely slow and shitty.
I'm trying to decide between a notebook and a netbook. All i will be using it for is school work, internet, IM and music
Well I usually have word and a browser window open with a few tabs and it runs fine. Don't have iTunes installed but I am sure the atom can manage it. It does have hyper threading after all. Will it be as fast as a larger notebook? Prob not. Than again iTunes runs like crap in windows anyway...lol.
I have the 1000h with a 160gb HD and upgraded it to 2gb RAM and loaded Vista Ultimate x32. There's now a 4gb RAM and was wondering if it will be recognized by the motherboard. Battery life on balance mode with mid screen brightness and internet surfing with videos = 4.5 to 5 hours. Should last a litte bit longer on power saver mode. Also bought a 2gb SD card for Readyboost. Life is sweet.
Hi mike i have a Question can you do me a big favoure and take a picture of the ( eee pc 1000h) on top of a peice of A4 paper !? please, if so please reply and ill sort out how ucan send it to me :D tyvm !!!!
Powerful enough for all your office applications, internet browsing, and really light, light, light gaming. The atom does have two threads so it can do some light multi-tasking also.
My battery lasts 3-4 hours depending on the mode you set it (high performance, balanced, etc)
Thanks. Yah it really is nice carrying it around to work. Especially running Vista I don't feel like I am missing out as much when I am away from my desktop. Well I take that back I do miss having a dedicated graphics card. Although this is not a gaming laptop so I shouldn't complain!
Good review. Nicely planned out. I'm planning on getting one and upgrading the RAM to 2GB however I've heard you have to do something to the bios to get it to work? I guess by now you have probably upgraded the RAM. Did you have any problems?

good review thanks! So can you touch type on the 1000h? I saw a 901 at a Bestbuy and the keyboard was small! I don't think I could do that, but the 1000h looks better.
