  • oh Chills !!

  • 1:19 Girl in the backround not singing!!!

  • It would seem that the Westminster assembly once served a vital function.

  • BORING

  • Im a teacher and this gave me goosbumps right through!!! AMAZING!!! INSPIRING!!! Just plain breathtaking!!!!

  • NICE!

  • young and old kids singing as one, the greatest thing in the world, a childs voice! we are united

  • I remember singing this song in my primary school, I hated singing, but I loved this song.

  • @xiNPuRiTi I'm not suprised by what you say, in my day only a decade or so before, we sung the hymn "I vow to thee my country" from which this is also taken, not this which is a rugby world cup song. I dont want to harp on about politics but I have to say that this is a good illustration of the countries decline in pride fed through the school curriculum, although the world in union is itself very pleasant.

  • This is great maybe the best version. Love the arraignment too sometimes it's a real pleasure to hear a piano just played well.

  • Its not a Christian song.

Its a song about union, a song all of mankind being treated equally

    .

  • Not liking this performance. No one seems to be putting in any effort at all. Come on, really sing!!

  • awesome performance

  • 2:08.......... I would

  • nic...........:)

  • that girl on the right side on 2:29, doesnt it look like katarzyana on americas next top model season 10!!!!!

  • BEAUTIFUL!

  • Watery.

  • @lanc3fight4freedom SHUT UP THE WORLD SHOULD STAY AS IT IS WHITE BIOY

  • Americans won't appreciate this because according to them a 'World Cup' is only played amongst themselves. They're also not into Rugby, the second most popular sport on earth.

  • What are you guys going on about? Rugby IS A RELIGION

  • I found this song touching in the context of the film Invictus, and its background

    of international sport [rugby].

But a "song of praise"? Huh? Praise of what? Praise of humanism, and some admirable ideals. (Admirable, or dangerous, depending on just what you

mean by "union.") But no mention of God. An atheist could sing this song in

good conscience. I'd be horrified if we sang it at my church.

  • @marysueeasteregg so you would be horrified if your church preached peace and unity?!?!

  • @Jaymoization Hardly! Preaching peace is appropriate, as is preaching unity, if by that you mean love & brotherhood. (As opposed to world government, which some say this song promotes; I don't think it does.) But I would be horrified if my clergyman suggested mankind, broken as it is, can achieve any real peace without God's help. Peace & justice & brotherhood are noble ends, things worth striving for; but by the teachings of my church, we can never expect to achieve them by our own efforts.

  • @Jaymoization I love this song. In the context of a (secular) film, and in the context of a (secular) international sports movement, I find it appropriate, inspiring & uplifting. But in no way is it a hymn; it does not recognize God (the way, for instance, the song "Let There Be Peace On Earth," which expresses very similar sentiments, does recognize God). It does not belong IMO in a church service. Some Christians in this thread made a blanket condemnation of the song; I take a middle road.

  • @marysueeasteregg haha to be honest i think the only reason they sing it is because it is a nice piece of music. i dont think you should read so much into it that you are horrified it is associated with christianity. i'm a christian too but i don't believe that we cannot achieve peace without God, we created war, therefore we can achieve peace.

  • We sang this today the school I work at in our One World Concert and it made me feel proud to be human! We had spent two hours celebrating many cultures stretching across the globe and it made me think that whoever was on the stage was amzing and equal. We had Masai warriors, Somali dancers, Bhangra, and mnay others and I was so proud.

  • What schools are children wearing a pink uniform?

  • awesome video so good.

  • i love this aong

  • that was beautiful

  • "I Vow to Thee, My Country" refers to this position--

  • @allan1599 If there's Wi-Fi in this Kingdom then give us an update...

  • @bluetiledwalls

And when he was demanded of the Pharisees, when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you (Luke 17.20-21).

  • @allan1599 I wish to subscribe to your newsletter. Tell me more about these lizard overlords.

  • @allan1599 adolf hitler did it in the wrong way................. lets be honest

  • @allan1599

    You're forgetting OBL et al

  • @billse10 Quite true--Good song on your page btw. What of Diana Krall and Chet Baker?

  • @allan1599

Hmm .. Diana Krall and Chet Baker doing the Constable Savage sketch. Somehow I don't think it'd work. :-)

  • @allan1599

you my dear friend are an idiot. this is a song from the rugby world cup. Hitler was also a strong advocate of clothes and we all know how evil they are.

  • Non sequitur logic and name calling do not make the case for any position.

As a fully credentialled public school teacher, I provide vocal instruction to more than 200 students daily. I also direct the school choir. Having studied hymnology, I assure you that the history of the song is as I have noted.

I simply find the secularization of a Christian hymn to be very disrespectful to a large portion of the World's citizens. I am offended to see the sacred made profane.

  • my old school song

  • wow!

  • i remeber we use to sing this song in primary school. The good ol'days

  • Lovely to see these young people singing together. A pleasant change from seeing and hearing nothing but negative stuff about the younger generation.

  • cos most of them arent teenagers yet. :P

  • Oh brother, people don't realize how dangerous this is. But it sounds so, sweet! We learn from history that we don't learn from history. I feel sorry for ya world. It's gonna be bad.

  • Come into the light brother, repent the heathen ways of american football and join the world united in Rugby.

  • You won't get any argument from me - Rugby is the best.

  • You won't get any argument from me - Rugby is the best.

  • An excellent reply to my mischief! Nice one mate!

  • You are 100% correct bluevitriol - religion will do nothing for unity, harmony and most of all eternal life. These are only obtained through Jesus Christ.

  • Are you trying to suggest that Christianity isn't a religion?

  • @AWD265

A world in union, united in compassion and reason, not religion.

  • every one of us is a child of a heavenly father

how pleased he must be, whenever he hears his children singing like this in praise to him!

  • It was written for the 1991 Rugby World Cup, the tune is a hyme that is sung in church and is called I Vow To Thee My Country.

The song is to show that all countries are different, but unite for the common good of the game of Rugby, to play hard but fair

Go the All Blacks in 2011 !!!

  • @bluetiledwalls I'm barely holding back tears just watching this. Thanks Bluetiles, It's beautiful.

  • brassspitoon..... I think you've got the wrong idea about this one. It's not a faith song or hymm by any means. I think it was written for the 1999 Rugby World Cup .

  • you are a prick

  • @brassspitoon this song was was written for the rugby union world cup, and its about rugby teams from around the world joining together to play one of the greatest team games around, the only link to any other song is the tune and if people watch the 1st version of this sung by Kiri Te Kanawa which has the words and video as it was meant to be they will understand that its nothing to do with god or anybody else, its a song about rugby union

  • @brassspitoon

  • 5 stars

  • I was at Croke Park on Saturday ( Irl V Eng) and the bands were playing this before the national anthems. And you could feel maybe with a little push 80,000 people would give it a go and try to sing . So suggestion Wales and Ireland are playing the last game of this years six nations in Cardiff maybe it would be nice if they tried to get the entire 80,000 to sing this before the game Just remind everyone of the wonderful friendships made playiing and supporting this game

  • "If I win, lose or draw, it's a victory for all"

  • oh bravo! Tears flood my eyes when I hear this song, it makes me want to become a better man

  • And tomorrow is the start of another Six Nations so good luck to all the players.
