  • Cristo....

  • un requiem = paisible?

  • magnifique...Quelque chose du prélude de Tristan.

  • 亡父はこれを聴いて「やっと戦後の我々の新しい音楽が生まれた」と感じたそうです。父は音楽教師でした。

  • bello

  • géniale, cette oeuvre...

  • 11 March, 2011....dedicated to the people of Japan

  • Beautiful piece. Without a doubt a masterpiece from Mr. Takemitsu

  • god he looks like my grandfather.

I honor his music, reminds me of shoeberg and debussy.

  • very nice.

  • Wow Takemitsu is a genius

  • Messiaen, yes, but I'm not sure I can detect much Japanese influence, tho' I have to say my knowledge of Japanese music is not great - kinda pentatonic stuff, isn't it? Anybody?

  • Kapariz, Takemitsu wrote this in his first compositional period, in which he actively avoided exposing himself to traditional Japanese artistic styles. He fell in love with traditional Japanese stuff later on though, and by the 1970s you start to hear that reflected in his pieces.

  • this is sure on of the best composer of 20 century......

  • Although Messiaen undeniably influenced Takemitsu, I believe that Takemitsu is more refined and precise in his musical intentions. A truly remarkable composer who is just beginning to receive the recognition that he deserves.

  • One can definitely hear Messiaen's influence on Takemitsu in this piece.

Gorgeous — I'd love to hear this performed, but unfortunately my city's philharmonic rarely performs any work composed in the 20th century.

  • @DannyDaWriter Write to them.

  • I just heard the LA Phil perform this tonight with Dudamel conducting, it was impossibly beautiful!

  • @DannyDaWriter

The Pittsburgh Symphony will be performing this work on March 25 and 27, 2011.
