Why is it that Star Wars / Star Trek fans always have to cry about stuff from the other? They are two different Series / Movies!!! It's like saying Need for Speed is better than Super Mario, because the guy in the car could run him over. But Super Mario is better than Dr. House, because he can kill him with a fire ball. Also, Star Wars / Star trek species don't exist in the other "universe". Why do fans have to rage about everything?
Damn empire.. I really hope the rebels will finally manage to blow that thing up im fed up of living in constant fear that this thing mite destroy the earth..
@ScrubmanLowell Actually, this is the original Enterprise, not the Enterprise D, hence Lieutenant Commander Data (Brent Spiner) wouldn't be on this ship, but Spock would.
Erm, you do know that there are several tons of antimatter on board that ship. The secondary explosion would've taken out much of California and no one in that video would have survived.
If the Enterprise was destroyed, her antimatter stores would also go up and those troopers, and half the continent they are standing on would have been destroyed.
@ninnoichi not likely, even if the antimatter stores did go up it would, at best, fry some of the state or whatever that they were in. Antimatter isn't THAT destructive, and the Enterprise doesn't carry THAT much of it.
@Perion Do the math. Start with the energy conversion of nuclear fission, then fusion, and then for the release of matter/antimatter annihilation. Follow the progression: kilotons, megatons, gigatons. Now consider the reaction mass involved. How much antimatter? Is it equal to the reaction mass of a single nuclear bomb or is it more akin to the reaction mass of a modern nuclear reactor?
@ninnoichi Considering the kind of explosions we've seen when a warp core goes up, It wouldn't blow up half the continent, It would kill everyone in the vicinity yes, but the continent would be fine.
the death star uses a laser right? um the enterprise doesn't even bother raising shields for lasers does anyone remember the name of that episode when picard's like 'lasers lol, do you think we should go to red alert?' and riker's like 'well it's in the manual'
@Master0of0Blades using death star to destroy the enterprise would be equal to using a 50 teraton nuke to destroy a lego block even with sheilds the weapon used is massive over kill
@furrrey i'm just saying the enterprise historicly laughed at lasers.. alot.... fuck the death star data would analyse that weakspot and send a quantum torpedo up their exhaust pipe so fast the sith lord wouldn't have time to put on his makeup for his death scream. i'm just saying i have my money on the enterprise
@Master0of0Blades First off, the kinds of L.a.s.e.r.s. they laugh at are in the kilojoule to megajoule range, (Equivalent to modern day aircraft guns and battleship guns) Picard once refused to endanger his ship by entering a warzone filled with l.a.s.e.r.s, and Star Wars Lasers aren't L.a.s.e.r.s.
900 megawatts is enough to shoot down a runabout in DS9
400 gigawatts is enough down the Enterprise D's shields.
You are cherry picking facts from the respective universes. The massive firepower ascribed to Star Wars ships is mostly fanon/EU data and is contradicted by other in-universe data. The low shield capacity of the Enterprise-D and low power output of Star Trek weapons is contradicted by other in-universe data, such as the original Enterprise vaporizing a D-7 with one phaser shot. Etc., etc.
@WUZLE Actually I'm not, On screen data is thoroughly consistent with the ICS, much of it in fact IS on screen data. (such as the firepower of the Seismic charges and ease in which asteroids are pulverised by slave 1's weapons)
Keep in mind that firepower cannot be gauged from ship to ship confrontations outside of dialogue, as reactors and ammunition etc on board a ship can contribute greatly to their destruction, the Enterprise destroying a D-7 in one shot is meaningless.
You do know that Curtis Saxon (the ICS writer) is a die-hard Warsie and that his firepower claims were so over the top that they were removed from later printings, right?
My point is there is evidence of ridiculous firepower and defensive capability in both universes, if you cherry-pick from all available sources. At one extreme we have ten-teraton ISD cannons and the Sun Crusher and on the other we have trilithium explosives blowing up stars.
@WUZLE Considering the fact that I have a copy of "Star Wars: Complete Cross Sections" that is quite recent and still has the figures in it, you have been misinformed about a change that never happened. As well as being misinformed about Saxton being biased which has never been proven.
Trilithium weapons cause stars to explode because of some funky technobable that only works with stars, they don't do all that much to other types of targets.
I've seen copies that lack the figures. What's more, the ICS is EU material. Not strictly canon.
You're not going to drag out the technobabble argument, are you? Star Wars is made of technobabble -- or rather they never explain how anything whatsoever works. The entire universe runs on the rule of cool.
If we have access to every firepower claim, however ridiculous, remember that the original enterprise was said to be able to depopulate a planet all by its lonesome.
@WUZLE I have never seen a copy that lacks the figures, unless you are referring to books other than the Attack of the Clones/Complete Cross Sections ones, the Revenge of the Sith ICS for example doesn't have as many figures but they are still there.
It's better to not bother explain how something works, then to try and just sound silly.
A starship depopulating a planet on it's own is no surprise, provided it has enough fuel, the question is how long.
@WUZLE Also keep in mind there are numerous TOS errors and retcons made since, like assuming a gram of antimatter could do ALLOT more than it actually could and such.
The highest official figures for things like Photon Torpedoes are 24/48 megatons (space/atmosphere effective yields), the Cardassian Dreadnought being classified as a super weapon puts a limit on the yields that are considered conventional at well under 43 gigatons.
There are contradictions from within both universes as to the firepower ships could put out. Claims of 10-teraton yield cannons on Star Destroyers are contradicted by footage from within the same movies. Fan have jumped through hoops trying to explain the contradictions, as they have with slow turbolaser bolts for example. All I am trying to say is that if you accept every source as firm canon you can claim huge power outputs for both universes.
@WUZLE Sorry but that's not how it works, there is nothing in the films that contradicts high yield weaponry, keep in mind that just because it releases Teratons worth of energy, does NOT mean that it releases it in the manner of a nuclear blast. In fact the ICS for ROTS even states that it blasts nuclear level energy in a small area, so no contradictions.
Turbolaser bolts move easily as fast if not faster than pulse phasers and disruptors (like from the defiant or birds of prey)
Oh, there's plenty of contradictions. X-wing firepower causes huge explosions on Death Star vs. barely killing a Tie Fighter; ISD guns blowing up an asteroid (multi-gigaton) vs. causing tiny explosions on the naked hull of a ship; gigaton range proton torpedoes displaying no more than a ton of explosive force when fired into the power core of the Death Star II.
@WUZLE Actually none of that is contradictory, those huge explosions on the Death Star = them shooting guns apart and the ammunition/gas for the guns exploding violently, causing tiny explosions on the naked hull of a ship? well we know that starships are almost invariably made out of fictional ubermaterials while asteroids are made out of mundane, known materials.
Proton Torpedoes don't release their energy in the same way a conventional explosive or even nuclear explosive does.
@WUZLE Again the highest yields we get for Star Trek are on their superweapons in the gigaton range, and even then they are massive fireships like the Cardassian Dreadnought, conventional weaponry in Trek cannot hope to stand against conventional weaponry in Star Wars, even their superweapons aren't nearly as powerful.
Also while Trilithium weapons can cause stars to go nova, they would not one hit kill ships, also the only races known to use them are El Aurian and Dominion.
The Feds have reignited stars with modified photon torpedoes. A single BoP caused a solar flare that incinerates shipyards many millions of kilometers away. Trilithium tech is available to the Feds; it appeared in a Next Generation episode. The Feds have no lack of apocalyptically powerful weaponry, they choose not to use it.
On Voyager we learned that photon torpedoes can be equipped with much more powerful warheads as needed.
@WUZLE Reigniting a dead star and causing a healthy one to go supernova are two completely different things, the Solar flares the BOP induced wasn't anywhere near the firepower levels of an ISD, Trilithium Resin is available to the feds, or anyone with a warp core, turning it into a viable sun buster is however extremely difficult.
Voyager used some funky warheads here and there, but nothing really to write home about (aside from a passing, off hand hyperbole comment by a certain ensign.)
@WUZLE Not Fanon, and no more speculation than yourself I'm afraid, however, since it's clear that we are going to have to agree to disagree, then yes, we are done.

If the real enterprise, would of blown up,at that altitude, nobody would be standing nearby,as the vidio showed !!! There would be no bridge, or anybody standing around! They would all be dust!! Warp core breach, about 97.4 megaton explosion
This is why the Empire would lose: The Feds have powerful friends. The Klingons get involved, Kira would ask Garak and Odo for help, which involves the Cardassians and the Dominion. Janeway would convince the Borg queen how excellent imperial stormtroopers are as drones, and Sisko would take a cloaked Defiant into the SW galaxy and make an alliance with Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance. So even without species 8472, ST would win.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
YOU ARE SOOO STUPID!! do you know how ridiculously dumb you sound??? what kind of fucking argument is this??? i have never seen such stupidity on here..
Say that to quionic7 who started the debate in the first place. Funny that HE never got any comments, so how about you pussies follow the debate more closely before posting imbecile messages to me?
Awesome vid, but whoever made this video sure have unleashed a hell of star trek nerd fury. It's just a funny vid for you to enjoy not a place for nerdy flame wars
Boba Fett's little Slave One would be a threat to a tiny runabout, but target practice for the Defiant. :P
Needless to say what Voyager's Phasic torpedoes would do to an ISD and a couple of Species8472 bioships to the Death Star. But by all means, send everything you got. It would be interesting how the Empire would cope against Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, the Borg, Species 8472, or the Dominion, hehe >:)

If the real enterprise, would of blown up,at that altitude, nobody would be standing nearby,as the vidio showed !!! There would be no bridge, or anybody standing around! They would all be dust!! Warp core breach, about 97.4 megaton explosion

Isn't the Death Star too much for the Enterprise? I believe it would take a Star Destroyer... very cool video though.
davcar23 2 years ago 3
try TIE Fighter or X-wing
pair of Proton torpedoes or Concussion missiles would be enough.

well put together. nice job guys.
BlainHarper13 2 years ago
This is why the Empire would lose: The Feds have powerful friends. The Klingons get involved, Kira would ask Garak and Odo for help, which involves the Cardassians and the Dominion. Janeway would convince the Borg queen how excellent imperial stormtroopers are as drones, and Sisko would take a cloaked Defiant into the SW galaxy and make an alliance with Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance. So even without species 8472, ST would win.

Mmhh....how about the Death Star vs. 7 species 8472 bioships? The result would be clear:
Star Trek > Star Wars
The weak shall perish >:)
larsblom 2 years ago
@larsblom
What about your pussy star trek guys versus the entire Star Wars galaxy.
Even Boba Fett could pwn the enterprise.
Quionic7 2 years ago
Boba Fett's little Slave One would be a threat to a tiny runabout, but target practice for the Defiant. :P
Needless to say what Voyager's Phasic torpedoes would do to an ISD and a couple of Species8472 bioships to the Death Star. But by all means, send everything you got. It would be interesting how the Empire would cope against Klingons, Romulans, Cardassians, the Borg, Species 8472, or the Dominion, hehe >:)
larsblom 2 years ago 4
@larsblom boba fett would stick his dick in the enterprise's mouth. end of story
