On one hand, it could've saved Spider-Man a lot of grief if he had told Felicia and Mary Jane the truth. Then they wouldn't think that Peter was flaking out on them when he disappeared all those times.

But on the other hand, that would've severely complicated matters, as it'd be two more people with knowledge that certain parties would love to have. One thing is certain: I don't envy any superhero that has to make such a decision, or any other difficult choice.
