  • Love it!! Thank you Bill!! :) If you own a KINDLE, check out my eMagazine :) /watch?v=wocD6tEXIeo

  • When was this video made?

  • hey, don't like AA, maybe you don't have a problem,..perhaps you can try some controlled drinking. or maybe you're an alcoholic that can get well alone... be my guest..AA is for those who want it... don't want it... why bother

  • yeah go to a couple open ass Big Book meetings. stay away from the open discussion cuz 3/4 of that is not aa

  • You should sober up before uploading idiot

  • Came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity

First you have to admit you are insane

  • @SalemStorm Step 1

  • @henryporter contempt prior to investigation is everlasting ignorance..do yourself a favor and go to a couple open AA meetings...then comment on what you believe..my question is why would you watch anything related to addiction. Second none of the profits were directly Bill Wilson's the big book was written but hundreds of alcoholics..get your story straight..it was the contribution of several people not just one man...God Bless You Though

  • It's funny how people hear what they want to. I am NOT defending Bill W. He was an unsavory character, selfish pig, etc. Okay. And if there was proceeds so be it. That in and of itself doesn't make AA an unhelpful program. I won't convince anyone who has a bone to pick. Hell I critiqued it for YEARS and fell short of staying sober. When I was beaten up enough I was willing to do the "work" that was asked of me I have been freed of the obsession.Think and say what you will. I know it works!!!

  • If you read the Alcoholics Anonymous book ..."God" is found within us and God is only a word I had to lay aside my prejudice in order for it to work in my life. It is also a "God" of OUR understanding, people hate on AA and its not AA that sends people to meetings that don't want to be there. So if you don't like it I could really care less. Don't go!!!

  • There are some real hateful comments WOW! What could be worse than an alcoholic death? AA? I read a book called AA Cult or Cure..And this guy DID NOT LIKE AA However he concluded it wasnt a cult and loved the political structure. It has no leaders how could it be a cult that is preposterous. One can come or go as he pleases, there r no dues to pay. It has saved many people from an alcoholic death for those who don't want it the book states "we only know a little" they encourage trying on ur own.

  • Colorwheel777 or Anyone else i would cherish the chance to talk to You about GOD and HIS will and love for You. Please contact me anytime. From dean warren.

  • This guy made a hell of a lot of money with his book sales.

  • @henryporter101 so your point besides that?does that make everything he wrote invalid? If that's your only point it's valid, actually his wife made the money, Bill died in 7. Whatever you may feel about AA it has worked for the people that do the work coming to meetings is a component but it's NOT the program. It is only the fellowship. That's why people say it doesn't work they do not do the work nor do some of the members know the solution themselves

  • @slutwhisperer What is 'the work'?I've met that many people who claim to have done the magical mystical steps. These steps can only work if there is an interventionist god who who takes an interest in recovering drunkards but allows nine million children to die every year. As for Wilson making money, yes,I believe that if someone writes a book claiming to know what the creator of the universe wants for drunkards, and claims to have been inspired by this creator, taking the money invalidates him.

  • @henryporter101 Well you are most certainly entitled to believe what you want. You obviously haven't read it and if you have ...you read it with prejudice. I was taking Bill W's inventory last summer and was vehemently angry at everything AA stood for so I grasp where you are coming from. What alternative would you have people look to. Lets say you knew of a friend that was drinking himself in and out of psych wards would you suggest he just stopped? What would be your advice?

  • @slutwhisperer You did his inventory did you? Why don't you speak properly? My advice to this hypothetical friend is get psychiatric treatment and avoid cults that talk about turning wills over to higher powers because that wont do his/her mental health any good at all.Your reasoning is interesting, you can't think of an alternative to AA,therefore Wilson is immune from criticism.

  • @henryporter101 You seem to be rather angry at what I cannot be certain? Your arguments do not make sense hence it's no wonder you cannot make sense of what I've clearly stated. I never drew any conclusion Bill W was above reproach, he was a womanizer and did have designs on making money from AA. He's wide open for criticism, What does that prove? I have read the book and Bill makes no such claims as you state&what cult are you speaking of as AA has no leaders, one is free to join or not to!

  • @slutwhisperer What doesn't make sense? You asked me a question and I answered it.Now my question is why did you reply to my observation that "this guy made a hell of a lot of money with his book sales" by writing "so what's your point"?It seems that you're in the grip of of this cult which is why you felt the need to defend Wilson and AA.You're another host that the virus of AA has attached itself to and uses to propagate itself.

  • @henryporter101 What harm has AA done? The courts send people there not AA. One is free to join or not to. To believe in God or not to believe in any God whatsoever, there are no fees no axes to grind, no one to please. It helps millions and I guess that's a bad thing for whatever reason. If you view alcoholism as a weakness it is but if you look upon the willingness to find something within us we haven't been able to access to solve the drink problem then I find that perplexing Why the disdain?

  • Religious cult that has a 95% failure rate.

  • Cult leader of AA Bill Wilson was a big fan of LSD. He probably had more trips than Timothy Leary. His first trip was in a hospital when he was administered a dose of a different halucinogenic cocktail. Bill thought he saw god and had a "spiritual awakening". He was also a member of a nasty little cult called the oxford group prior to this period. Bill stole his 12 steps from this cult. The oxford group was drummed out of exsistance due to Nazi ties.

  • JESUS only YOU and YOUR ways are the truth. i pray for Those in aa. Bless Them LORD so They can see. As YOU know They are being tricked by satan and his demons. In JESUS name i pray.

  • @deanwarrengc I pray the blood of jesus with you. I declare freedom over these captives, Lord, deliver them. Amen

  • @AschersOil who the hell r u? you self righteous little bitch! go dive in the grand canyon, slut, get a life...

  • @deanwarrengc are you an alcoholic??? then fuck off, arrogant prick!!

  • I love AA. Thank God for the founders and their wives. Many families have been brought back together through this program. :) (Not to mention the countless hundreds of other 12 step groups that have been born due to the birth of AA)

  • Bill W was no more than a selfish egotistic power driven nut until he found this program. Thanks to his hard work driven by God many many lives have been changed. Keep an open mind. Closing it won't do you any good.

  • @stephy072770 basically he was a drunk he found help and wanted to share it. yeeah what a bore? lol

  • I love Bill! Insane genius - just my kind of guy. Who else realised that one drunk talking to another was the cure? They might have got a lot wrong but Bill & Bob were the first to stay sober. Yes, I hate AA - I hate anything that does me good.

  • @eruptionista I hate to hear the truth about myself. Btw Im certain that end the end Lois was very glad he found this "cult" smh lol

  • This is the first time I've seen Bill W. on video. No surprises here, a good old fashioned Vermonter. I find this to be delightful and thank whoever put this here. Thanks to God for Bill W. and Dr. Bob who started a movement that has saved and enriched the lives of so many recovering alcoholics. They never claimed to be heros or saints, they did it to stay sober themselves and to help other alcoholics. Bravo!

  • What a judgmental person you are. Read Pass It On.......he was a lot of fun, he didn't like phonies.......... I think you are doing a Character assignation on someone that was given a gift to help others. What the hell do you do for your fellow man?

  • Hey he was old, maybe its time you look in the darn mirror.Stop judging another that did so much for mankind. He really has helped millions........... Read the book PASS IT ON. Maybe you might get educated.

  • His wish, PASS IT ON. I do AND I thank you Bill and Bob for this new way of life. 26 years and what a journey! Thank you and God.

  • His honesty STILL amazes me! Thank you Bill, for everything! God rest your soul!

  • Thank you Bill for saving my life and introducing to a life with infinite blessings and possibilities. And thank you Lois for sticking by him through his struggles which eventually bore tremendous fruit for millions around the world.

  • the degree of adulation is given due to how many times he has hit bottom and still came back and also that a handful of people started what is an amazing program today.....................charisma has nothing to do with it

  • AA members are funny. They are so melodramatic about everything, especially people that don't agree with them.

  • @moloko5 some of us are funny because we have found out sense of humour again. some are very melodramatic, some aren't. what happens is we are who we are and when we get sober, we are just a sober version of that. once an asshole, usually always an asshole, being sober doesn't necessarily change that.

  • Bill W. was an alcoholic, like I am. God chose him, I believe, to introduce Alcoholics Anonymous to a world plagued by the scruge of alcohol addiction. Bill W. was a gifted man, but also one with many..flaws..as we..all. . have..Thanks to A.A. millions have recovered,if..they..do..the..work from..a hopeless state..He was the messenger.

  • not only has the desire to drink been lifted the desire to be angry the desire to blame the desire to fight has been lifted too. thankyou EBEY BILL BOB and the fellowship of A.A. for showing this alcoholic how to let GOD into a otherwise helpless hopeless exsistance.

  • To really look at yourself without any barrier, obstacle or judgment is a truly courageous thing. Mocking and ridiculing AAs is what's boring...deadly boring.

  • @Bootmahoy88 agreed

  • What is dreary and sad are the words of people who look at anything aside from the point of the message then attack the message. Talk about nonsense. It's insane behavior. Stop going to AA meetings or listening to AAs expecting to be entertained. Listen to the message if you have the guts, because that means you'll have to look at yourself instead of looking at others and mocking them.

  • nobody have adulation of him i'm AA member and we don't have false god or hope's we are just members of the real life, no alcohol, no drugs no cigarret, no dependences, just we learn to accept the life like life with ours supreme power!!!!! if some body else comment and is not a AA member... just respect and follow the way!!!

  • pure genius. play by play of the event that gave bill the vision ...well its what truth does. it dont have to be fancy...just from the heart. bill has a story and a most creative vision at work in the office of spirit. a place that the broken hearted can go. a place naysayers cant destroy. a place no tenet is framed, no laws made no ecclesiastical heirarchy..no souls to suck out and pimp you back at 10%...no jot or tittle..hey that sounds like christanity in its first 30 years,,what happened?

  • bill wilson could be a baby raping satanist for all i care. But if theres a chance that i may not drink again for the rest of my life, then ill take it. everyone else. do you have nothing better to do then sit at your computer and bitterly type away. and please dont repond to this. cause then you just going to be like " well at least i can spell" and blah blah blah. for the love of jesus christ on a stick get a life.

  • The miracle comes from God not from this man or the one next to u...

  • His wife is the victim........guy is mad.

  • @NickerSkids : his wife was a volunteer.

  • Rest in peace Dear Wilson

  • Amazing Grace, How sweet the sound! Thank you for posting this. I love AA history. You can't help but see God's hand in every past event that lead to the formation of AA. The providence of God is beyond our comprehension. San Antonio was proof to the world that in our weakness is His strength. Spiritus Contra Spiritum.

  • those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. are you perfect? I think if you were they would nail you to a cross! I challenge you to be "real" with yourself. AA has helped thousands of people, myself included. Accept people for what they are, because no matter what they are, God loves us all!

  • And what a terribly DREARY character he is. I was really surprised, given the degree of adulation he is given by AA members, that he is so devoid of charisma. He really just comes across as a self-obsessed bore.

  • @MrTobytwirl god hes enough to drive you to drink is bill w

  • @MrTobytwirl FUCK OFF ALL U NORMIES ! IF UR NOT AN ALCOHOLIC THAN U JUST DON'T AND WON'T UNDERSTAND. CAN'T BELIEVE U HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO DO THAN CHARACHTER ASSASSINATE ON A MAN THAT SPREAD A MESSAGE THAT ULTIMATELY SAVED FAMILIES AND THE LIVES OF THE HOPELESS ALCOHOLIC'S! GO STUB UR TOE AND BITCH TO YOUR FRIENDS THAT LIFE SUCKS BECAUSE U FORGOT TO PICK UP UR DRY CLEANING .WHAT THE FUCK HAVE U DONE TO MAKE THIS WORLD A BETTER PLACE??? SHIT...

  • @BALESTRACCI1 or you could just grow up and not drink if its a problem when you do .i did been sober for 2 years no AA ,and this bill guy is boring and nuts at the same time

  • @ianfmazal I tried for 2 years by myself and it didn't work. shortly after that i got drunk. I should say I was dry and miserable for 2 years. But after I found A.A. and got willing to do something a little different, I found happiness.

  • @MrTobytwirl Perhaps. But a sober self obsessed bore nonetheless. Better than a screaming, raging violent self obsessed bore!

  • bill w is an inspiration, regardless of how he lived his life, his moral character is not for any one to judge. we are all worthy in the eyes of God. AA works, if you work it. Of course it's not for everyone, but be careful of your words of dicouragement to others. until you walk in anothers shoes, you do not know them.

  • A non-alcoholic will never think that he may be one, or that he should go to a meeting, or his drinking maybe out of control. A normal drinker will never watch these clips drunk, and then make scarcastic remarks out of their own pain and suffering, trying to convince himself he isn't an alcoholic. You aren't fooling anyone, including yourself.

  • @georgecanfora

That's nonsense. People don't have to be drunk or have any problem with alcohol to have a low opinion of AA and its founder.

  • People in a cult follow orders and people in AA have the choice to follow suggestions!!

  • Have anyone heard of the secret scoci. and the Illuninaty? Freemsons? Unfor. AA is part of that secret scociety. There are many cults and most are front org. of the secret underworld. I hope they do'nt like grape KOOLAID!

  • What a dreary, self-obsessed old bore! I had always imagined Wilson to at least have charm or charisma. It is a shock and a revelation to see this man as he actually was.

  • yes agree. what a classic abuser

  • @sandraplumberd your bitterness is interesting. This must hit too close to home. Bill's moral character may have lacked at times (maybe even most of the time) - I don't think that negates the enormous impact he has had on alcoholics and people affected by alcoholism. I have watched many people who did meet my moral expectations do a tremendous amount of good.

  • Well Im related to the man. He is in my mind and that of my cousins in the USA as a man who was a liar, cheat, narcissistic, imbecile. Totally dishonest afaker who set up a religous cult based on horse shit.

  • Jeez, how do you really feel?

  • @sandraplumberd He's probably done more with his life than you have.

  • @sandraplumberd : I am currently in AA, and am not sure I agree with everything that the program offers; however, I SO have great admiration for someone who at least wanted to help himself and his problem. Not sure if you drink or not, nor am I sure of how you are related to him, but if Lois is a victim, she chose to stay with him. If he was the faker that you say, she certainly would have known, yet she chose to stand by his side. How exactly are you related to him??

  • @sandraplumberd bill w is an inspiration, regardless of how he lived his life, his moral character is not for any one to judge. we are all worthy in the eyes of God. AA works, if you work it. Of course it's not for everyone, but be careful of your words of dicouragement to others. until you walk in anothers shoes, you do not know them.

  • @karlottahumphrey

Rubbish! Of course people can judge his moral character, based on known facts, as would be the case with anyone else. Wilson's hypocritical posturing and self-righteous preaching invites such judgement and the available evidence shows him to have been a dishonest man.

  • @sandraplumberd so, what's your point? What page is that quote from?

  • Bill WIlson opposed the New Deal.

Well, he was right about that one.

But wrong about almost everything else

  • I love AA ...im sober strait---25yrs plus----THNX

  • 2 best things to come out of the USA:

    a) Jazz

    b) Alcoholics Anonymous

  • My Sky Fairy is better than your Sky Fairy

  • good man!

  • If you have a problem with drinking, quiting is not easy. It's not something that everyone can do with success. I have had success with AA. It works. When you work it. Not drinking is easy. It's living without a quick feelgood fix that is hard. AA works best when you don't drink. The vast majority of people with a drinking problem will never have any success not drinking. Sad but true.

  • Fuck Bill Wilson and his guilt-ridden bullshit system. If you've TRULY had enough of the drinking shit, you will quit.

  • please have an other 1

  • @ClawsoftheEther absolutely!

  • @ClawsoftheEther or die

  • Thanks AA, you destroy my life.Thank you for shareing bull shit.

  • Stop drinking and blaming others for your problems

  • @rayishere71 FUCK OFF ALL U NORMIES ! • @BALESTRACCI1 exactly

  • @BALESTRACCI1 ooh God, i wish once just ONCE one of you cultist dildos would call me a "normie" to my face. they'll be calling you Freddy Krueger after that encounter...

  • drink up babe

  • Thanks God fo AA. It saved my life !!

  • I think that this program is the best program for recovery alcoholics and addicts. Without AA I would not be sitting here typing this data. My life was a disaster, and now I have one. I attend one to 2 meetings a day. WITHOUT THEM I WILL DIE!!! SCREW THIS ASS HOLE WITH THE 13TH STEPPING-EVERYONE HAS TO MAKE COMMENTS ON SOMEONE OR SOMETHING THAT HAS DONE GOOD ipaintgolf come to my meetings you wont see anything 13th steping

  • I wish I would have lived in the 1950s.

  • AA is for people whom want it not need it. AA really works it really does. Bill Wilson has, in my opinion, helped more people in this world than probably any other human being. You need to look at all the other recovery groups out there that have used this divinely inspired program to begin to understand the magnitude of effect this program has on people with neurotic dispositions.

  • Tell me what group of organized humanity is not by definition a "cult". ALL organized religion would qualify. The fact is that AA and the 12 step program has worked for millions for whom nothing else did.

  • Comment removed

  • i am bringing you down imissmyerin. just you wait. you best look out . dear satan beware of my 'knee jerk reactions'. My main strength. was knee jerking muthafuckers just the other day.

  • I just joined AA April 4 and I would be willing to hear any reasonable arguments against AA, i.e. how do you former members find it to be a cult? I don't think you could deny it works

  • I'm 24. I was introduced to AA through a rehabilitation centre bout 4 years ago. If you think AA is a cult, simple solution pal. don't go. No one's going to try to force you. Meetings just provide a place to be with healthy people, and to learn. For me its done wonders. No doubt, AA is not a hotbed of mental health, but miracles do fucking happen in the rooms of AA. My advice is stick with it pal. I have done a lot of crazy shit, but I know of nothing that compares to that experience

  • Did you READ my post, PAL? I said reasonable arguments against. Did you read an attack on AA anywhere in my post, pal? No, I don't think you did. It is knee-jerk reactions like yours that tarnish any good works by any organization, PAL!

  • this kinda thing is killing aa.

    attraction not promotion

    come on ppl

  • its just not the answer you were looking for.

why you stop asking ppl who dont like the program what they think. a

and come find out and make your own decision. i mean i honestly wouldn't kno who to trust reading these post.

some seem too good to be true.

and some seem like it might be a cult.

your the only one that can make the decision. don't let other ppl dictate your life. its not healthy.

  • alcoholics can not get sober on there own, they need a higher power, the 12 step program ( big book ) helps you get closer or find a higher power, the AA felowship is to identify and pass the message on

  • Bill was a sober horse thief, listen to the video, she works he plays golf, and on and on it went.He stole the copywrite from the other members and got the money for the big book for the rest of his life . He had a mistress who worked at gso, he invented the 13th step.

  • Don't forget the cigarettes. He smoked cigarettes. If you're going to spew shit, ya gotta mention the cigarettes. Funny, it spite of all the crap you spit out that he was named one of the most important men of the 20th century. OOOps! Did you forget that the Wilsons worked tirelessly for years helping drunks without ANY compensation? OOOps! Ya forgot that? How about the Nobel Prize nomination he refused? OOOPs! ya forgot that too? How about the millions of sober alkies saved by AA?

    OOOps!

  • All miracle cures are bullshit. AA does not cause miracles.

  • I gave it time (over 15 years). It held me back from doing more worthwhile things.. I eventually walked away from the silly dogma of Wilson's movement with no adverse consequences. My only regret is that I didn't do so much earlier. Like many, I was trapped in a groundless fear that disaster would strike if I walked away from this totalist movement and its disempowering message. "Paradox" proves nothing. AA's teachings seem senseless because they are.

  • I felt the insanity too- in the rooms of aa, except I don't think it was a symptom of alcoholism, but rather the effects of people rejecting reason and evidence in favour of believing in phony magical and pseudo-religious hogwash. And yes, many do die. Needlessly. There is no inevitability to dying as a result of having a drink problem. AA does a huge disservice by insisting that there is,...but as you pointed out, it is just not interested in facts, evidence or even common sense.

  • Yes, most of our A.A. perceptions of a higher power are closer to Santa Claus than a reasonable understanding of Herself. However, the imense power of paradox experienced while surrendering is the proof in the pudding. Give time time.

  • Where on earth is there any actual evidence that alcohol addiction involves an allergy, and even if it did why would that be likely to lead to insanity and death?

  • we dont need evidence..we feel the insanity and many of us die from alcoholism

  • I read "The Docotrs Opinion" as an early twentieth century drunk tank facilitators observation of something being differant with the extreme cases he encountered. I believe the idea is to drive home the disease theory, therefore acceptance of powerlessnes (sp?). Read it with a grain of salt. The chapter "How it works" seems mind-numbing, however it holds up in explaing the obsessive compulsion and solution.
