I understand why people use Picmip but is there a point when you're already running QL at maximum fps? Sure, to see the enemy better but if you're using a sport model it shouldn't be that hard.

It's called strafe jumping. You jump forward (while pressing one of the side keys) and you move faster. Pros can get up to fantastic speeds.

it's in the quake physics itself... after quake 2 acceleration comes from pressing up-left or up-right while keeping the mouse in a close narrow range from the direction that you are heading... it's hard to explain but if you download defrag mod for quake 3 arena you will see the movement advantage. 

PS Please try defrag it needs as many members as possible :)
