  • Furry, Donnie and Leon, nothing better...

  • Great song and great performance. I just find out, how Leon is awesome. It ´s crazy, that some "older" musicians can make fainted a young girls like me :-))

  • Leon has so much soul, it's ridiculous. This dude was an artist. He swings on the simplest songs. His piano grooves, and song intros , just kick me in the guts (in a great way) every single time. Thanks so much for this video. You GDead bashing fools are pathetic. The Dead also did this song up right in the late 60's and early 70's when Pigpen sang it.. He was a great Jimmy Reed fan.

  • Best version I've heard of this one since Pigpen sang it in the Grateful Dead!

  • Well ladies and gentlemen great news to be reported for all the fans of Mr. Leon Russell or should I say the newest member of THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME CLASS OF 2011. Congrats to the master of time and space.

  • what is it about this man, this voice, after 40 years I still cannot listen to him enough....no one has ever come close. Thank you Leon Russell...

  • Leon does an astounding job with this song but that harp player just sucks big time. That shit was pitiful...

  • Leon looks like he's really having a good time here.

  • Leon needs to be in the RRHOF in his lifetime. Even if he doesn't get in, he is in it in his fan's hearts. I hope he knows how thankful people are for his music.

  • I remember Will the circle be unbroken off this session. I remember it very well. I can hear it now in my head after all these years. And my God, it was good.

  • Great song If It Wasn't for Bad on youtube now, for his album the Union with Elton

  • Leon was only 28 when this was made. unbelievable

  • @DeluxeKC And he had already done Mad Dogs and Englishmen AND the Concert for Bangladesh!

  • bring me back, leon

  • Great to finally see Don Nix after 40 years of listening to his Living By the Days album and LOVING it.

  • i believe this was the same concert that contained "let the circle be unbroken". it was the greatest version i have ever heard. however i have been unable to find it anywhere. any suggestions?

  • Joe Cocker and the mad dogs & englishmen

  • @olderoamer - you might find it at " Leon Russell Library": At the request of Leon Russell, we recently took possession and control of his audio and video tape library, bringing it to its new home in Oklahoma. Lots of treasures in the mass of tapes that we'll be sorting through and archiving over the next few (many) years.

  • harmonica solo stunk. but i like how he thows his hands up pritty mutch cuz it was the rong key. got it at the end though

  • love leon and the fam, esp. claudia and rita. but who's the blonde male guitarist that was on stage often with geo. harrison and eric clapton?

  • That's Don Preston. He was a part of this whole musical family. Don't know much about him other than being a part of "Mad Dogs And Englishmen," "The Concert For Bangla Desh," and then Leon's solo work.

  • thank you posting this. i am old enough to have seen it when it was on channel 23. it was the second half of a concert that began with cat stevens. i have been looking for this for years. is there any chance you could post the rest of this concert for this loyal leon fan? the only way to see it is to go to the museum of televison and radio in los angeles. i've waited for these videos for along time. thank you. vickie

  • Hi,

The whole video can be dl at Dimeadozen.

  • apparently i don't know what exactly the concert is listed under. i can't seem to pull up the right site or i'm not putting in the right info. please help. thanks cub

  • Youtube blocks some text so it's hard to type as I can't post the full link. You have to join dimeadozen(dot)org ... it's free but they only allow 100,000 members so you might have to wait a few days while inactive members get purged

  • There's only one seeder now so it will take a day to download. After I get it again I'll seed for a month or so.

  • I also LOVED this live show when it aired in 1971. It made a lifelong Leon fan! I found the DVD on ebay. It is called 'Leon Russell and Friends' and has a very strange intro by Leon. I didn't think it was really him, but an impersonator. I watch the DVD about once a week. It is absolute food for the soul! Good luck to all who are searching for a copy. The very best song performance from this show is an instrumental called 'Jim Horn's Song'. You will not be able to sit still!

  • jim's song is actually a intrument version of van morrison's song," caraven.' but you are right. it is fabulous.

  • I've been searching for this video since it aired on PBS in 1971. It was called Full Circle and also featured a segment with Cat Stevens. If the whole show is ever available on DVD I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

  • if you ever find out where to get it please post so I can get it too.

God ,Leon is BEAUTIFUL and soooo talented!

  • Hi,

I don't know if you get emails unless there's a direct reply but the video is again available for download at dimeadozen(dot)org

  • Beautiful is the word for Leon. There's just something magnetic about him. I had never heard of him before seeing this so long ago, but it made a life-long fan out of me. If I come across finding it on DVD I will be sure to post.
