  • love the way annes surprised that shes suddenly on tv infront of millions of people

  • would love a better encode of this clip - to HD full screen

  • This used the same music as the BBC Christmas idents of 1985 - I can remember it as though it was yesterday! Lovely to hear it again.

  • the presenters was not working all night puttin up the tree

and preparing things for the christmas faire it was the poor

production crew did that but they don't make wholesome shows like this

at christmas anymore it's now pure droz but only a month to go before it's

christmas again anyone started christmas shopping yet if so pm me ok.

  • @FRANKIESHANOWSKIY2K0 yes yr right, the poor production crew that were getting paid very well for doing it!

  • Eighties Christmas!

  • it started in 1983 i believe all you have to do is look at the end of the show and see the egg cups with the dates on

  • I want to go back :-( x

  • im loving that bananna themed jumper lol

  • @keiko909 wicked memorys

  • THIS IS AS BAD AS X FACTOR

  • A big overdecorated tree, a great guest line-up, a brass band doing Christmas carols, freshly-baked mince pies and a tacky jumper - ahhh, what more could you want?

I bet GMTV would never do this!

  • Tv-am was a damn sight more interesting than GMTV. If it wasn't fending off the bailiffs it was broadcasting from Aussie; it gave us the first rat to save a sinking ship and is sorely missed. GMTV is just corporate ITV pap that seems to exist just to plug the other crap that now appears on ITV. Well done Archie. ITV - the Asda of the airwaves.

  • At its height, TV-AM was actually very entertaining - I was addicted to their Australian Bicentennial coverage

  • 1985?

  • Nick is Partridge!!!

  • surely there was NEVER a time when that jumper looked good!

  • Nice to see Nick in his Christmas jumper!

Why on EARTH would anyone think that was a good idea?

  • this is sooooooooooo nostalgic this wouldn't happen nowadays .......bring back the innocence of the 80's.... love it xx

  • you should add a tag .....Jeff Wayne

  • Jeff who?

  • Jeff Wayne of War of the Worlds fame

    he composed this

  • Composed what? music before tvam? He didn't!

     the TVAM music then yes.

  • @Jamiep84 Jeff Wayne...you know, "WAR OF THE WORLDS"!

  • @Jamiep84 Jeff Wayne, he composed the theme tune to this show, he's best known for his WAR OF THE WORLDS album

  • Are you sure? yes he did the TVAM music but this piece was also used by ITV all the time! there clips of being used else where

  • Sod this for a lark, when is Roland Rat on? I want to see the Transformers!

  • Paul McCartney was on TV-AM? That's awesome!

  • I bet this was not live!

  • OH MY GOD!!! i could have happily sat and watched the whole episode of this if it still existed, makes you forget what a great team Anne & Nick actually where, im just sorry it was not Rusty Lee in the kitchen with the mince pies.

and if this makes me a TV geek i'll happily wear that badge 5 star tv viewing

  • I don't see how this is for "tv geeks"???

    This is simply nostalgia.

  • I mean Nick???

  • BTW.....is it just me or did Annie always contradict any openion her ever had????

  • YES....LOL.... where jumpers never went before.

  • They used this same christmas track on CITV's New Year promotions for New year 1994!!!

  • Why oh why did GMTV win the franchise back in the early 90s??!! TVam was great!

  • Because of the barmy system which allowed companies like GMTV and Carlton into the ITV system.

TV-am's shares were falling and they also had alot of trouble with the unions, plus GMTV put in a higher bid.

Incidentally, both were owned or backed by famous Australian businessmen - Bruce Gyngell (TV-am) and Rupert Murdoch (GMTV)

  • TSW and TVS put in bigger bid and lost

  • TVS and TSW would have had to have cut the quality of their programs if they had won the bid... probably would have still been better than the shite that replaced them though!

  • Still think it was a lot better than GMTV!

  • Nice to know TV subtefuge is nothing new... there's no way that was live!

And huge props to Nick's jumper

  • Haha love Anns fake suprise at 1.20. Cheezy as anything.

  • Nick Owen = Legend!

  • I was delighted for him when Luton won at Wembley last week.

  • never seen that b4 christmas one love nick's jumper lol

  • TV-am wasn't around in 82, but taking a wild guess I'm thinking 1985. Great upload.

  • Description updated accordingly. Thanks.
