Obviously i could never compare with what happened on D-day, but every war is different and unique is its on gruesome way. and there is a major difference between being drafted and actually volunteering. One may enjoy war, its a addicting drug, why do you think war video games are so popular, they are not real, but the simulation is intriguing

Hmm there is something wrong in the film in ww2 the main battle rifle was the m1 garand the first semi-automatic rifle while the guy at 1:57 was using a spingfield 1903 the main battle rifle in ww1

Being a Marine I went to see Saving Private Ryan but could not make it through the opening where Ryan (older) is walking through the cemetery and drops to his knees at the grave I lost it...in front of a packed theater. Wrong without the US the british would of been crushed the german were fighting 3 Nations. Russia,Britain, and U.S.A. The US supplied the Russians with tanks so without the US the brits might of lost either way ww2 would be a Allied victory because of the Russians huge balls.

WW2 started in 1939, the U.S. intentions were to stay out of the war. Britain, Russia, France, were fighting the Germans and struggling. Then December of 1941, the U.S. was attacked at home... Pearl Harbor, This entered us into the war, and we helped the allies fight the war. The U.S Did help the allies a lot! They depended on are financial or military support. British were very dependent on U.S. equipment to wage any successful form of offensive against the Germans. Same Russia too.

I believe that had the US not given them this material and financial help then there would have been no chance for the Allies. The war would have been over in the west at least, by early 1941. there would have been no invasion of italy, normandy or whatever. the war with Japan might not even have happened, for it was only after the German assault on Moscow failed that FDR really tried his best at getting the US and Japan to fight eachother.

The British were very dependent on US equipment to wage any successful form of offensive against the Germans as well as to maintain manageable living conditions in their home Islands. Band of Brothers is more authentic , this one shows somewhat what they went through at Omaha Beach but truth to be told the real beach was much bigger and the battle lasted the whole day with multiple Allied boat waves deployed.
