  • I have been a vegan for almost 1 month now. I have systemic lupus which has caused many complications with my health. I have lost 27lbs of water accumulation in my legs due to heart problems, my hands and feet have had the feeling restored, and although the severe joint pain has not disappeared it has been reduced. Why didn't any of my Dr.'s ever tell me about veganism?

  • @TheRogueMonk i am a body-builder and i eat meat simply because its food .. i have started to add beans and green peas... what other cheap and affordable sources of vegeterian protein can i get? and the big quwestion yes.. do i need to combine them ? i think its odd if god made incomplete food .. it make sno sense to me.. what do you say.. its frutrating for me to have to eat 3 kinds of food and i tmakes people fat

  • @TheRogueMonk i believe that god gave us wonderful animals to eat and use but everything should have its limits.. i dont believe that eating meat is bad but i do not think that a human being should coninue ignore the vast variaty of available blessing god has given us from teh earth

    i believe its 90% to 100% possible to live on ffruits form the earth then living only on meat ..

    we over do things in life and maybe the market is overdone , its not different then any other part of market

  • @TheRogueMonk Every makret being it vegan. suplements, meat industry they all want to say THIS IS THE SAVIOUR only do this .. and they keep overdoing things.. because they want to get rich.. while we as humans have to find the balance so to say ourselves.. the best is to eat modestly and eat using most of the variaty of food god has given us instead of sticking to absolutly one source .

  • Animal foods even if they are organic would be considered survival foods that you should only eat in a desperate survival situation. The same goes to refined sugar/flour and processed junk food. Our diet should consist mainly of live raw plant foods that are organic.

  • A diet consisting of meat alone is a terrible idea. No fiber, no vitamin C (have fun getting scurvy), and no direct source of glucose. The brain is a glucose hog, and refuses to use other types of energy; thats why human breast milk has such a high sugar content. Eat a balanced diet with all food represented (including some meats/animal proteins) and health will be optimized.

  • I am Canadian, and all Canadaians know that Inuit have the worst longevity statistics in North America. Research from the past and present shows that they die on the average about 10 years younger and have a higher rate of cancer than the overall Canadian population.

    Eventually a cooked meat diet is going to cause disease. Hell...even the American Medical Association, and National Cancer Institute recommend consuming LESS meat!

They traditionally ate meat raw, and it's with the introduction of western diet elements, and smoking, that their cancer rates have skyrocketed. My comment is meat-neutral, in fact, but I'm just stating that we can't so easily make the correlation in the case of the Inuit.

  • clement doesnt know what hes talking about. hes a vegan propagandist. humans have no ability to digest protein from cellulose like herbivores. if a species is not an herbivore it must consume animal products to obtain adequate protein. or eat unnatural foods like beans and grains.

  • van orden is a salesman. enzymes are not protein. enzymes are made from amino acids. amino acids are not destroyed by cooking or freezing. humans cant break down cellulose to absorb the amino acids in plants. otherwise why do you have to eat sprouts and algae? try living on only leaves and grass like a true herbivore and see how long you last.

  • did u notice theyre just twisting words? u dont need protein u need amino acids. wrong. u need protein made from amino acids. just because there are aminos in everything doesnt mean you can absorb them. and you need the right combination of aminos. it wont make protein unless ALL the essential aminos are present like they are in meat. theres no advantage to free form aminos. peptide bonded aminos are better absorbed.

  • Yes if all you ate were green Leaves you would get enough Protein to survive and be healthy.

    But why not eat Other foods and get their benefits also ? I eat mostly Green Leaves, but i also eat Nuts, seeds for variety and nutritional balance.

    I also eat ALOT of berries to get extra Vitamin C, although what i eat is WAY over the RDA, because i like berries !

  • Yes you can live on just Fruit, but not very well . Its much more intelligent to get a well rounded Nutritional balance and include plenty of Green Leaves , Nuts and Seeds.

    If you tried to just live on Dairy, or Meat alone, or Grains alone , Youd die Fast. BUT you can live on just Fruit for many Years.

    However the best plan is a well balanced whole foods vegan diet for obvious common sense reasons

  • actually i have to disagree with you. you could live a lot longer on just meat than just fruit. an all fruit diet is deadly. noone has ever succeeded on it. but many cultures have lived on an all meat or mostly meat diet and not only survived but thrived. you wouldnt die fast. you could live for a long time just on milk probably. but on all fruit you will get sick very fast.

  • Obviously its not smart to live ONLY on fruit or Meat. but you can definitely live ALOT longer on just Fruit, than a Meat only Diet.

    If you ate meat only, you would be ingesting far too many toxins and negative particles that would acidify your system to such a degree that you have NO minerals of which to buffer the acidity

    Proteins cant be split by our enzymes into amino acids because they are altered by HEAT and resemble partially melted plastic and are no longer viable.

    Protienaceous food that are microwaved, baked, broiled, barbecued cant be utilized because of HEAT and form hundreds of mutagenic substances that act on our DNA causing many diseases.

    Second problem is high amounts of free unbound iron in red meat which overloads our iron storage mechanisms. Tumors/pathogens need free iron to grow.
