iodine prevents two types of breast cancer, thyroid disorders and cancer, and possibly prostate cancer (not yet proven). It's a heck of a lot better than getting treated for cancer--don't ignore his advice, even without the Fukushima disaster. Your research efforts will pay off in less disease. DrBrownstein com
Brownstein's book and dvd on iodine=very interesting. It takes 90-100 years for a discovery to catch on sometimes. E.g., it took over 90 years for western medicine (WM) to recognize and treat goiter after the iodine connection was found. Did you know WM didn't know the difference between ovulation and menstruation until the 1950s? or that acupuncture had a scientific basis until 1973-1974? Read Lily E. Kay's, "The Molecular Vision of Life: Caltech, the Rockefeller Foundation ..." for more WM
I'm really hoping this Dr. Brown stain is full of b.s. I'm sitting here looking at a container of Morton "Lite Salt" which is half potassium salt with 40% United States RDA of Iodine per/ 1.4 grams. Which works out to about 60 µg (micrograms) of Iodine per 1.4 grams of salt. 130 mg of iodine would mean about 110 ounces of salt would be 3 kilograms / 6.6 lbs. of MORTON'S LITE SALT.
@madmanmantra Hi, I'm a surgeon, I took the time to read Brownstein's book, Salt your way to Health. Two years ago, I would have had the same opinion as you, I'd walk into a health food store and think the sales staff there was bonkers. What's missing are the 80 or so other trace elements in 'sea salt' and he shows NHANES studies to back up his claims, these are long term studies. I also viewed his DVD and book on Iodine. He states that your table salt's iodine isn't bio-available.
He shows modern testing methods for iodine's competitors, fluorine and bromine mostly. They inhibit iodine's ability to incorporate into the T3 and T4 molecules that your thyroid glands need, other glands need, and all cells need (mostly those that secrete). Fl and Br are found in pesticides on fresh trucked veggies as well as Fl in water. His practice has about 3000+ patients in Michigan, inland (not near ocean) so the soil tends to be iodine and mineral poor-could save your life
Bothers me to look at the clouds over head and know what they contain AND to see the planes laying down patterns of chemtrails at the same time. What a wonderful world we live in! I just went to the apothecary (compounder of homeopathic medicines) and bought a whack of capsules. Both my allopathic doctors refused to give me a script as I was told was needed. But not at a health shop! One cap a day every morning... and I am praying that here, where I love the rain, these clouds pass over....
This whole thing just adds credence to why we should be using wind power instead of nuclear power! Wind is a regenerable resource and it appears there's no serious hazards by using wind. Get a life, USA!
If you are concerned about iodine deficiency try lugols iodine solution, it comes in a liquid solution so very easy to administer, easy to buy online.
Ridiculous. Forget about expensive supplements. Just eat seaweed - the highest natural source of iodine! (not to mention plenty of other healthy minerals - which work in *conjunction* with each other!) Treat whole systems with whole solutions, not band-aid fragments.
What about good old sodium bicarbonate, and trace minerals - zeolite, spirulina and chlorella? I've also heard that methyl, selenium and cysteine can break down the harmful components of radioactive iodine- acts like a solvent(?)
P.S. I've also had adverse reactions to seaweed baths/scrubs, dead sea salts; would this not indicate iodine intolerance?
@fetymann - Then why during an MRI after having intravenous iodine based dye, did I go into anaphylactic shock? This happened more than once even when I notified them ahead a time. Twice they had to flush my veins with saline. (?)
Potassium iodide is protective against radioactive iodine & nothing else in a nuclear release meaning other nuclides. Can Mark or David address this? Rain factors are not addressed in media, only winds.Rain falls on critters & food, so now what docs?
While i agree, the best thing the people can do is start taking iodine....but, there is none to be found! it's sold out. pharmacies don't carry it. i was hoping he would address this. i saw on the internet somewhere a vid that demonstrated you can MAKE your own potassiumiodide if you are skilled. Howver, that being said,
that reactor with the mox fuel, that is blown, isn't helped by iodine [reagan made a deal w pres of that time to use that mox stuff]
Looks like Americans should only eat the salt with iodine in it.

Kelp meal is high in iodine. It also has the other trace minerals and macrominerals needed for our bodies, animals and soil.
